Hey everyone trying to do some online shopping for a set of LED headlights on amazon. most of them say they flicker or need a relay to combat flicker.

I live in a very rural area with no streetlights or houses for miles on end, lots of wild life. need bright as possible, cheap as possible. there a million choices on amazon. anyone here have any experience?

could someone share a positive experience and point me in their direction, should I just go with the halogens?

right now have a few saved on amazon for around 30$ for the pair..

to anyone who says you get what you pay for you don't know what youre talking about. They all come from china korea or japan, theyre all made in the same factories. just because you feel better about spending 150$ on fancy brand name and packaging doesn't mean theyre better.

Katana is a great choice. They are about $40 on Amazon. Most people now are using alphaobd to change lighting settings to avoid using canbus adapters. But canbus adapters are less than $20 so I'd order a set just incase. The canbus system is very particular.

well, then you kinda answered your own question, just order a set with decent reviews.
If they are all the same, then your just buying a brand that is someone's favorite.

What year and what style headlights do you currently have (projecter/reflector)?

I just want someone in here to say yep. Hadem on my 4th gen. worked fine. I’ve had to many concussions to deal with flickering headlights. I won’t be able to drive

2019 classic, I'm running bps lighting LEDs in hi, low, and fogs, no adapters, no flicker, clocked properly to 3 & 9.
I'm running the T2 (25w/bulb)in the lows and fogs. They are $50 cdn / set
And in the highs, B2 (50w/bulb) $65 cdn / set

I'm using OPT7 Fluxbeam-X in my truck. I've been happy with them. They came with all of the extras to hook up (flux capacitors, resistors, etc - I'm not really sure) and I haven't had any issues. I've been using them for, I'm guessing, 2.5 yrs or so.

Probably a little more expensive than what you're wanting, but it's my only LED headlight experience and they are good enough that I put them in my wife's Durango as well.

They just released a new version recently. I haven't looked into it though. And, I know they released a more affordable version last Christmas, but I can't vouch for any other options.

Heise, you should be able to find them local at any car performance, or car audio shop. Plug and play.

High quality halogens. Blasting a bunch of uncontrolled glare in the near field may seem "brighter" but all that's going to do at driving speeds is blind you to distant objects and blind oncoming traffic.

The best place for retrofit LED headlights is up the ass of whoever thinks they are a good idea.

Kindly alert me to when and where you will be driving after dark so I can be sure to avoid the headache your lighting downgrade will give me.

And just because they are made in the same factory (if thats true) doesnt mean they are all the same lights. The same factory can make several different kind and quality lights.

So every single car with LEDs or HIDs is blinding/glaring to you? I'm just not seeing that, and I don't think my eyes are anything special. There certainly are some inappropriate or poorly aimed setups out there that are glaring or blinding, but I pass by plenty that don't bother me one bit whether I'm in my truck or my car.

I'm sorry if you are afflicted with this but I think you may represent a very small crowd, and this "problem" is only going to get worse since everyone including the car makers are going to these setups, and for good reason. Halogens are painfully and dangerously bad in terms of performance, and I've yet to get high beamed one single time in my truck after aiming my lights (LEDs) properly, so I am most certainly not blinding/glaring other oncoming drivers. The way you make it sound I would be getting high beamed every other on coming car, but not one single time.

You're mistaking candela for lux.

Lux is what you want from a forward lamp not candela.

Since that data isn't published by OEM's ( they can tell you what the emitter produces but not what the reflector does with it) we can compare apples-apples with whole assemblies sold by the aftermarket. For example KC is kind enough to publish lux information on their lamps... A LED powered Flex for example offers 500lux at 10 meters for the spot pattern and 350lux at 10 meters for the spread pattern. Meanwhile a halogen kc daylighter measured and quoted by the same company delivers 2796lux at 10 meters for the spot version and 1962lux for the spread pattern version. Also costs half as much.

Calling halogen dangerous is just ridiculous hyperbole.

LED has good applications and when engineered as a whole assembly can be good but in retrofit they are all just a fashion fad and produce lower quality light that seems bright to people who think headlights are best admired on instagram and don't seem to care that lux, lumens and candela are not interchangeable properties. But nobody is ever the bad guy in their own story so I'm totally sure you're the one exception who somehow figured out non-garbage retrofit LEDs ::)

I worry less about someone, like me, that has LEDs, than the kid next to me with their face in their phone while driving.

Personally I would say you are in the minority as far as aiming after installation.I believe that most just slam them in and say **** everyone else.I drive about 20 miles to work and I pass a few blinding vehicles a day and if you look they're usually some old lump that has been retro-fitted.Saying that though I've passed some factory units that look like they should be aimed different.
