OAT.
Should be a label on the reservoir. I’d post a photo but I’m 1500 miles from my truck right now.

Went to the dealer last week and they diagnosed a pin hole in the EGR cooler and placed an order for a waranty replacement. Service advisor said it would be arrive in four days. Didn't hear from him this week so called him this afternoon. Part has an estimated ship date of January 15th! I will be stoping by the dealer service department weekly for a top off on coolant which they will do for free. In between dealer trips I put distilled water in. I am going through 3/4 gal a week but I drive 500+ miles a week.

The SINGLE AXLE 2500/3500 diesels get 15-20 MPG unloaded...

If a truck has a single axle, is it under the front or rear? J/K [emoji3]

Just keep an eye on it. From what I understand (@crash68 knows better),but as the EGR leaks, it builds up a gooey mixture of soot and coolant in the EGR tube that eventually plugs it up, causes it to overheat, then melt the plastic manifold and potentially ignite it, which will generally burn the truck up (or down depending on perspective) as seen in OP's pic. Your 500 mile trips may heat stuff up enough to burn the goo out of the EGR tube, but it's a sketchy situation for sure.

It's actually the coolant can finely mist and mix with the hydrocarbons from the exhaust gas that can go nuclear and set the intake on fire.

FCA can't do anything to fix this right now. They are (hopefully) manufacturing replacement parts that will probably include a replacement intake (not plastic, hopefully) and possibly new EGR cooler. In the meantime, it is IMPERATIVE that you keep a close eye on your coolant level. Keep it topped off (WITH THE CORRECT COOLANT - IMPORTANT - MIXING TYPES MAKES GOO), and if your level is declining regularly, take it to the dealer to have the EGR cooler cleaned, at least. They may know of something else to do as a stop gap between now and whenever FCA issues the fix - probably in six months, they are saying.

My 2016 w/36,000 on it has been in the shop for 47 days so far. The intake melted on October 11th, but fortunately (or not), the truck did not catch fire. Got a "service electronic throttle control" message, tons of white smoke, and limp mode while on the Interstate at 75 mph. Was able to immediately take an exit and stop, which probably saved me (or not) from the fire. So far, all repairs have been under warranty, (new turbo, new EGR cooler, multiple new sensors, update software, new fuel filter (they always suspect the fuel, knew it was okay but replaced the filter anyway), but the truck still doesn't run right. Drove it 2 miles after they said it was fixed, and the check engine light came back on. Back to the dealer it went.... Had been having to regen the exhaust filter every week for a month before the event happened. Did not know/think at the time to check coolant level regularly.

Engineersaab54, is your truck still at the dealership? We are happy to escalate a case for you to help move this along if you'd like. Just send us a private message.

Wow. I guess I got lucky in getting parts. Have you initiated a case with FCA Customer Care? My case manager was helpful in getting the replacement intake delivered in just three days instead of three weeks. Even at that mine was in six weeks and 4 days! So far, it’s running well. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Merry Christmas to all!

I usta be a RAM fan but after this ECO Diesel I will be moving on. The dealer called the other day after Ram Care "expedited" the EGR tube to them. (Dealer told me in the very beginning it would be middle of January so Ram Care expedited the part to MIDDLE OF JANUARY) However, Ram Care Didn't Expedite a seal and well...., without the seal the EGR Tube is worthless. Anyway, not impressed with Ram Care inept ability to get parts when my truck is at risk of burning up. I am of the opinion that RAM Care is just the string you along division of FCA. Needless to say that the truck EGR leak has not been fixed yet!

BTW my leak went away for a little while. Any ideas why?

If it is an ECO diesel it has single axle with single wheel drive because it has another recall and only needs to circle the service bay from out to in. IE goes in circles at dealer service.

It is now near the middle of February and I had an appointment to drop off my truck (Oil change takes 4 to 6 hrs so EGR tube is 2 to 3 days) pick up an FCA authorized rental/loaner vehicle and be on my way. I am a self employed field service engineer and I have to have a vehicle to drive to get to my customers. Well, the dealer did not have a vehicle for me and didn't even have one at the dealership that they could give me while they slowly performed the recall safety warranty work.
I surely wish I was not a RAM owner!!!

Even though it took them three tries and 47 days to fix my EGR related problems, I have been treated very well by my dealership and pretty well by FCA, all things considered. Got the truck back at Thanksgiving, and so far she seems to be running well. Not getting quite the fuel mileage I expected (13-15 in town, 19-20 highway, not loaded or towing).

Mine has been in the shop since 14 Feb the parts have came in a number of times only to be told later they didn’t come in , then was told they broke a bolt off in the back of the engine and I would have to wait for them to pull the cab and I had three in front of me, now I’m being told again that the parts just came in but still waiting on bushings I didn’t know a egr cooler rotated lol , this is getting old they gave me a truck to drive but can’t take it out of state I think they are just making stuff up just to shut me up. 2015 lone star ecodiesel

Rally that loaner like you stole it. Bring it in smoking and see how quick they get you fixed up.... :)

How are you guys getting replacement parts? Just had my truck at the dealer yesterday. They tell me no replacement part available. Called FCA twice now, 5/31/2020 they tell me if I'm having EGR issues the dealer can fix it. So I took it to the dealer, no coolant leak found but may be related to EGR recall, no parts available, is flat out on the receipt. Charged me 110 bucks. 2nd call to FCA 4/1/2020, she tells me, no there isn't a replacement part to fix it, I don't know why the previous lady told you to take to the dealer.

The recall is from 10/2019 and you are telling me in 6 months a viable solution to the recall is not available? How long does FCA have to satisfy the recall? Who is responsible if my children are injured due to the faulty EGR?

I wonder if any attorneys are looking at this, FCA did just lose a large class action suite for emission controls. Now this recall is also dealing with faulty emission control devices, but more importantly a safety hazard.

I guess their solution is for you to keep one of these in the truck. If it bursts into flames you can egress quickly. Kind of like the HD drag link recall where their solution is to just weld the adjustable part. :(
