The ramps are a good idea and something I need to look into. for this weekend I'm thinking ill set up next to a buddies truck and use his bed to lift the dog into the tent
That's surely works. Considering the price of material, and the headroom you have under the rack is super usable I bet you can whip a portable ramp thingy up.

Damn just read through this whole thing. You’re giving me to many ideas. Trying to build my DD to be a weekend over lander as well. Been trying to figure out how to mount my spare. May throw reinforcements inside the back bumper and mount up a tire swing with jerry can. I like the stock rear bumper but am swapping the front to a torxe x3 in the front with skid plate. I’ve been dabbling in welding with a fluxcore 125 from harbor freight.

Looked up the bumper, looks super beefy. is this the idea you are going for regarding the swing out?

Fun pics from the weekend and the finished up 1.0 version of the bed rack. May swing by the metal shop and get version 2.0 going this weekend, for my personal convenience with getting the dog in and out I’d like something a bit lower

I made a new badge out of aluminum and drilled through it for the wiring with this license plate mount. The license plate mount is only attached to the badge via velcro at the moment but has been holding up pretty well. ill get a better pic tomorrow.
