Hi everyone new to the forum little background about me I fix ram trucks for a living mostly body work front end wrecks, roll overs ect

Back story I purchased a 2016 ecodiesel with 23k miles involved in front end collision put it together, the engine was knocking. Decided to take it apart noticed a chain tensioner was kinda loose thought ok maybe chain slap replaced it put it back together same problem. Took it apart again saw that it was a spun bearing, bunch of metal shavings in oil so I decided to replace block (I actually had a used block from another truck about 60k miles) anyways I ran it a few times no problems decided to take it out on the road today then low oil pressure light came on shut it off right away, towed it back to shop. Removed oil filter bunch of metal shavings so my question is after I replaced the block why did I get metal shavings again (will disassemble motor later on just wanted to get some ideas )

Without knowing where the metal shavings came from in the first place, it's possible there was shavings still left in parts of the engine.
How much of the "block" was taken apart? If you pulled the bedplate off and swapped parts, that probably what caused the problem the second time.

I actually changed pretty much the whole engine including heads the only parts from the old engine were valve and timing cover, and oil filter housing, oil pan which I cleaned both rigorously... I also changed headgaskets but I’m 99.9% sure I tightend all the bolts

Insanely, crazy inconvenient bad coincidence? Sucks.

Story you made me think of... We had one of our lead guys on a job with a helper, helper was in a hole tightening a coupling. When he was finished lead guy was asking how sure are you that you got it tight enough.

No Joke...helper says 75 percent sure boss. o_O

When first block was replaced was the turbo oil drained and flushed? could be a bearing failed because of crap in the oil lines.
