After a long debate with myself I have finally decided to trade the 2011 ram in for a 2015 ram 2500 tradesman with the 6.4 Hemi. 279d3163cfbf3707dafdc018cf88b553.jpg

Nice looking truck, how many miles on her?

Thanks. It has 134000. A little on the high side but seems to be well taken care of. Miles don’t worry me like they used too. Paid 18 grand for it

Some guy on this board has 400k miles on his 6.4. I have 26k on my '18 6.4 and being 70 years old this should be the last vehicle I buy. Paid $2.04 per gallon today so fuel costs not too bad but I'm in Michigan. Glad I left SoCal

Going from a 4.7 to the 6.4 should be a real treat!
Enjoy

Actually the 2011 I traded in had the 5.7 so it’s a noticeable difference but not dramatic. The power wasn’t an issue just wanted a beefier truck for pulling my travel trailer.

I am sorry I was looking at your member profile & didn't notice that was a 2003 truck. Yeah with the extra weight of the 2500 you more than likely wouldn't notice much difference at all except for the ride. :) Actually the coils on the 2500 are not too bad. If you do like most on here, lower the air in the tires to around 40-50psi when not loaded, & the ride is just about as comfortable as a 1500.

I was just thinking about the air pressure on the way to work this morning. Do you run the recommended pressure in the front and just air the rear down? I would assume so because of the weight up front.

Yes, the fronts may need to be up there on the higher side. But when unloaded, the rears need to come WAY down as the ass end of these are so much lighter.

Congrats on the truck. I had an ‘06 2500 hemi, now the ‘16. Its a great truck, but one thing I miss about the 3rd gen is it just felt so much smaller/quicker/nimble in comparison to my power wagon. These trucks are just so big and heavy.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. Gonna air down the rears to just above the light trigger till I can get the threshold lowered.

On my 18 the light comes on at 64 lbs on the rear. I run the rear at 50 and front at 55 with the CTD. It rides every bit as good as my 2wd 1500 Silverado lwb with the lower psi. You can probably get by with less on the front with the hemi.

60 in front, 75 in rear. Otherwise pressure sensor starts going off.

Congrats on the new ride...it'll be hard to go back to a 1500. You'll get used to the extra space in the cab. I'm also running 60 and 75 psi.

Good luck, I would never buy a HD truck with over 100k. My guess is, it was road hard and put away wet more than once. Transmission is probably nearing failure and I would bet you have wear metal in your oil. Do a oil analysis ASAP....

I run about 63-65 in the fronts and about 75 in the rear

Well damn I guess I will just take this truck straight to the junk yard then. Thanks for the warm and fuzzy thoughts. I’ll keep it all in mind. Lol

I'm surprised you even made it off the lot then!

You can tell by the overall appearance how a truck has been driven. People who dont take care of them, simply don't take care of them. Meaning they never clean them, wash them, perform maintenance, or care about fixing any damage. Generally, if a truck has been abused, it looks abused.

I’m surprised also. I agree totally. I’m not saying this just because I want to convince myself that it was taken care of but I can tell you that it was just by the interior and exterior condition. I can count on one hand and maybe a finger the scuffs and scratches I have found so that’s pretty damn good for an HD truck. Plus it runs and drives very well. Not too worried but I know it is a risk anytime you buy used.
It was a one owner and I have the Carfax on it.
