I had to make my own mounting brackets, the ones it came with wouldnt give me the angle I wanted.
Relayed from auxiliary switch in console, power supply is my aux battery.

I’m looking at building something to at least prevent punctures. I’ve got a couple scrapes on the bottom already and don’t need to buy a new tank. Would give me a reason to buy the 32 gallon but... looks like I can go to the mounting strap holes with some angle iron and then put a couple of rivnuts in existing frame holes and should be good with some 3/16” plating underneath

Sounds like a viable option. I think 3/16 Alum would be more than adequate.

Had quite a bit of scrap metal piled up so decided to build a hitch mounted swing out tire rack instead of my normal style ones. Figured it would be less welding a cutting.
Still need to add the toggle clamp to keep it snug when closed and maybe one of those spring loaded T pins to help keep it open. May need to throw those 1” spacers back on in the rear depending how much it sags.

Replying here instead of the everyday thread. I like your design. Mine on the jeep uses the exact same latch, yes it's a bit cheesy feeling but at 10 years old it holds fine still. I did weld it into place, backed into a tree and broke the bolts, but what can you expect. Where did you source that HDPE? I need that!

All the designs I've seen are alright, but especially for you and your high clearance setup, are way too low. How tight is the fit into your receiver? I do know that's a big issue with most designs, they get some slop, add the leverage of a 35 and you're looking at a headache in short order.

Me likey. Need to get back to just 1 vehicle, the ram is being neglected

I debated whether or not to weld it in place like the first swing out but did the extra effort drilled/tapped for the clamp. I got the uhmw off amazon, came in 12x12”, using the rest as a camping cutting board.

So I actually did a receiver mod a few years back when I had my linear actuated lifting dirt bike hitch hauler setup (I got all sorts of fancy with that one). I’ll take a picture a little later of what I did. It takes every bit of slop out of it. Just drill a hole through one side of the receiver and weld a 1/2” grade 8 nut to the outside and use a bolt to put tension on it, same concept as a jacking bolt.

It's the best ideas that are always the simplest by design! I'm why I didn't think of that myself.

King of the hammers trip. Camp in Twentynine Palms and relocated toggles clamp, previous spot was very inconvenient. Still need to relocate the safety hitch pin.

Time to upgrade the rear shocks to 2.5x 10” Kings. Ordered the correct misalignment spacers, possibly have them on next week. Then go test them and see what I need to do the valving. Also since these are 4” longer than oem, some extended brake lines and revised limit strap mounts will be in the near future.
