Hey! I have a 2015 2500 Cummins and i need to change the coolant, i was looking at the Evans Waterless
but have seen some worrisome side effects on the engine itself reading on the internet. Just need to know if anyone has gone waterless and how its going for them.
Thanks in advance for the response.

I was interested in that product some years ago; I read some reports that it has less thermal capacity compared to water or coolant mixtures. Only 60-70% of the specific heat.

I don’t believe a Cummins cooling system has 30-40% extra capacity so it was a deal killer for me.

What ever you do DO NOT mix OAT AND HOAT.. or different coolants. It’s bad... like crossing streams in Ghost busters bad..

i think evans is mostly a joke. its claim to fame was a much higher boiling point than water. but a far more logical approach would be a higher capacity radiator or fan. years back it was popular with some dirtbikers because they didnt have cooling fans but in recent years spal has introduced fans for most any dirtbike so evans is mostly dead in the powersports market

Going 150,000 miles on OAT is silly IMO.

Why risk it?

Risk what? That's what the Mopar OAT coolant is rated for. Look at the Cummins coolant, it's a million mile coolant provided you regularly check it.
People think an engine will grenade if you go over 3K on an oil change, anything less than 7500 miles on a full synthetic and your wasting money. You do realize that CTD OCI is 15K miles?

Anything less than 5k is waste of money on dino oil also, 3k oil change myth is to keep quick lube places in business.

Yow that stuff is expensive. You also need the prep fluid at $33 gal. x 6 and then the coolant at $47 x 6. Also, their warranty does not inspire confidence since they don't include the expensive parts like the engine block.

you are absolutely correct on Oci intervals. Yet, some of us old guys can’t do it. Old habits die hard. I am up to 6000 mile Oci though.

First post new to the forum.. I got a 2016 2500 about a month ago. After a week I got a coolant warning light saying it was low. Took to the dealer Coolant was indeed low added a little of the mopar coolant and they pressure tested and they said it had no leaks. Now a couple weeks later coolant is low again and warning light pops up. Warning light goes away after 1 min. Not getting hot as it’s cold out any ideas what this could be??

just cold weather..
Possibly reservoir tank mounted incorrectly from factory...

If your loosing a bunch of coolant and your not seeing any leaks from the water pump or anywhere else, it could be the EGR cooler or the turbo. Either one of those can leak and you not find any coolant leaking onto the ground.

The totally closed system of the CTD has a nearly 0 evaporate loss rate. If the system is losing enough coolant to go from full to the low coolant light coming on in a "couple weeks" then there is a leak somewhere. If they can not find an external leak then it is most likely internal. The previous posts about EGR / turbo are good and I would add head gasket seepage. A chemical block test like this one from NAPA are very accurate at detecting head gasket leaks.

https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_7001006

This page has a good write-up on testing for head gasket leaks. They have a step by step for the chemical test in the article.

In the class 7-8 heavy duty industry I work in, most long haul trucks go 500k miles between coolant fluid changes.

Have to ask, is the truck still stock or has it been tuned and deleted?

We certainly understand why this would be concerning, Amc3md. If you decide to address this with your dealer, please know that our team is more than happy to provide you with an additional layer of support for that process.
