Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows if the Tesla style radio kits would be available in the older 4th gens. I have a 2011 2500 mega cab. It already has the factory Alpine system with the RHB uConnect with navigation. But I really like the look of the Tesla style head unit.

I just noticed that they have it available for the older Rams! Is there anyone who has done this yet? In wondering if the things like hazard, light load, AC, tow haul, etc, are still functional through the head unit? They do have a pic of my older style auto HVAC with the Tesla style head unit, but those switches I mentioned above are no longer on the dash...

Very curious about this upgrade also!
It’s odd they do not mention anything about speaker output, since it is a radio! If they do I didn’t see it. Subwoofer output, watts per channel, etc....

Who’s gonna be the first to try this out!?!?

Sure hope someone does. I ended up going with the Alpine Halo 9".
Selling my old U-Connect / Sirius system if anyone's interested. Brand new map update disc, unopened and ready to install.
Cheers!

Check out this video from Phoenix on Youtube on the 2009-2012 Ram (with 2 front seats) with the 12.1" Tesla Style stereo, it looks like the row of buttons with the hazards is relocated to the top (upward facing) surface of the bezel, the HVAC controls are relocated at the bottom of the main bezel and any other switches are accounted for in the stereo itself.

I watched a bunch of YouTube videos of a guy who put this radio on his Raptor. He seemed pretty happy with it! Most of the talk on the forums were good as well.
I’d really consider putting one in my 2012 Ram, but I’m on the same tank of gas going on 8 weeks. I just don’t drive it enough to to justify it right now.

Looking at one of these for my 2011. Here is the head scratcher for me and maybe someone can enlighten me......if you look at the units at Phoenix audio website they list one that fits a 2009-2018 for $759-something then they list a different model for a 2013-2018 for $500-something. Well if both models cover up to a 2018 couldn't you use either one? Like the starting point is an 09 on one and an 13 on the other did they change wiring harnesses? Seems like they are trying to get an extra couple hundred out of you if you have a 09-12. Isn't a 4th gen a 4th gen? Been trying to find a used one but no luck plus have to sell my pioneer unit....

There are different generations of the chipset or something along those lines. That may be what your are seeing. I've seen some significant differences mentioned about things like start up time, between different generations of the head unit.

The difference is the 09-12 have a different design for the center bezel. Starting in 2013+ they updated and changed the air vents, buttons, everything is different.

^^^^ full install video, shows switch panel relocated to top where “coin tray” normally is.

Just bought this a few minutes ago for my 2012. I’ll let you all know how the install goes and how difficult it is, how the screen is, etc. I am going to record the entire install with my T7i and upload it to YouTube. I’m mid-swap on 2015 heated/cooled leather seats and swapping my jump seat for a center console so I figured I minus well upgrade the radio while I’m at it and a OEM RER/RHR with GPS runs $700-$1,200 and this seems so much cooler.

What boat ride over here? The website says they ship from America (Los Angels) unless it is out of stock at that warehouse or it is a low selling unit they only stock in China.

I placed my order under the assumption that it would ship out in the next 1-3 days. I don’t want to wait 20-35 days.

I just spoke to Phoenix and apparently it takes 5-15 days for them to “verify compatibility and so a quality check”. Lmao, are you serious? In today’s day and age, why don’t they have a online store setup so the customer must select certain options in order to place the order, thus verifying the compatibility is on the customer. As for quality check, shouldn’t that be done when the units first arrive at the warehouse? Not once a customer places an order. Why make a customer wait 5-15 days when you can verify their vehicles compatibility in 5 minutes, and the quality check should be done in products before they are placed into inventory.

I mean an item taking 20-30 days to arrive in today’s times has got to make them lose a ton of business. I’m considering canceling my order now and just ordering an oem RHB Nav.

According to the emails they have been sending me they don't have my model in stock and are currently "testing" mine and if all goes well will be shipped out soon. Mine's coming from China no matter how I look at it. It sucks but it is what it is. Hopefully you will be luckier than me.
I agree with you on the turn around time. Here is what I think the real story is, they have all the parts laying around but don't actually build and program them until it's ordered and paid for. They actually asked me if I wanted to include the installation if android car play for$40 more! I said no thanks I'll download it myself when I install the unit it's free on Google play store..
Check out the system I have for sale on here might be something you'd be interested in? You can access navigation by mirror linking your phone. Everything's about 2 months old.

I already ordered my PX6 from them, thanks anyways.

Yes their site is super deceiving on the shipping.

It clearly says (quoted from site)

“Where are the items shipped from?

The item(s) may be shipped from China or US warehouses depending on stock availability unless otherwise specified in the options.”

But when you talk to them, the only products shipped from their LA warehouse are open box, refurbished and used products.

I mean it’s whatever, but I wish they would be more transparent about shipping times and not make it sound like most are in the US and shipped from LA. Clearly all new products ordered are shipped from China but nowhere on their site does it say this or anything close to this.

As for building per order, yes this is true. When it comes to the 12.1” & 10.4” models, they have the screens and stuff separate from the bezels and when you order, they then piece it together, flash the software for your vehicle and add anything you upgraded. Just seems like a horrible business practice. They should always have 3-4 ready for whatever they are selling so that customers order, it can ship same day or next. But hey, I don’t run 2 businesses or anything so what do I know?!? [emoji23]

Having said all that, I am excited to get it and install it. Combined with my new seats and console, this will take my truck from old and outdated 2012 to a new 2018-2020 looking interior. I just wish I could install the 7” EVIC in the 2012 dash. My gauges look like they are from a 2006 VW with the small center non color info center.

Interesting... from your post history it seems you have a 2011 Ram? If so, the fact that they told you the unit for your vehicle is “out of stock” and I have a 2012, so same unit, and they just left out that “small” detail in their emails to me about my order and shipping times. I find this super shady, why wouldn’t they tell me that it’s out of stock??
