Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum, I left a post in the Introductions page. I have a 2014 Ram Express and have always wondered what the factory Cam Specs are on these 5.7 Hemis in the trucks. I also noticed that the 5.7s in the trucks are rated 25hp higher, (395hp), than the 5.7s that were in the Challengers and Chargers of that year, (370hp). So, a couple of questions here if anyone has that info. Thanks in advance.

Thanks buddy. Would those specs be for 6 speed manuals or for 6 speed autos. My Ram is a 6 speed auto.

Above was copy & paste from charger forums.com........all the cam specs with 6-speed beside them are non-mds cams (manual trans)
Last 1 was auto......probably car.....have not seen for truck

Thanks cj. I wondered why the 5.7s in the trucks had 25 more hp than the 5.7s in the Chargers and Challengers and thought maybe that the cam profiles might be different. I dunno. Like you, I haven't seen those profiles for the trucks either. Thanks.

It is the cam profile to go along with the 8 speed and variable intake runners that the 5.7 cars do not have. A 400+hp 5.7 would steal sales away from the 6.4.

Edit-Most people who drove a lightly modded 5.7 would laugh about paying the premium insurance and $8k+ MSRP for the 392.

I believe Ram Hemi specs are 186/208 and 499/493 with mds cams having 486 for mds cylinders. also found same duration and 477/471 with mds cams. Reason trucks have 25 more hp is because of better intakes, cold air from front of fender and better flowing exhaust because of more room for better exhaust.

499/493 (4 lobes have 486 lift on the exhaust for MDS)

Wonder if it's the same cam that's in the Chargers and Challengers.

The MC1398 cam is good for another 10 horsepower... It was used in MDS up till 2008.

The MC1397 is non mds from 2003-2007 ish(trucks, 2500/3500, others)
