Has anyone attempted to remove the front skid plate? I'm talking about the front ailver skid plate attached to the bumper? I want to paint mine black.

In general, it appears that guys just tape up and spray them in place and don't remove. Doesnt look like it would be too difficult when ive had the grill off to install LEDs in headlights, creates a good top view.

I think you should remove the front bumper and disable it for painting

Update:

I was going to just throw an old bed sheet over the truck to protect it from overspray, tape it up and spray it. However, it's VERY simple to remove the front bumper. Once I had the front bumper off and on a table, it was simple to remove the skid plate.

I went with the Rustoleum Bedliner paint and it's a very close match. It's a little off, but I actually really like the contrast.

Overall, would definitely recommend removing the bumper to do it.

Is using a wrap a decent option? or is just better to paint?
