Just curious as to what you guys are using to raise your trucks up for maintenance issues.

Looking at some drive up ramps that are rated at 16k but had numerous complaints stating that they collapsed or weren’t safe. I’ve got jack stands but even those make me nervous. Some of the truck ramps can get up into some serious cash so I wanted to see what you guys recommend?

Thanks

I use Rhino Ramps, not sure if they are the 12k or 16k versions(would need to look at them). I use them to back up onto and level my enclosed trailer so I can get car out into shop easier. Current ones have plenty of reinforcements and such. Plus the ramp part is a stronger design verse older ones. I had an older design and they started to crush doing same thing I do now with newer ones. Only reason I use these ramps as my trucks are normally lifted so it's easy to get under them for maintenance.

Yeah that sure would blow to be underneath the truck and the ramps start to crumple. I want them primarily to lube the front drive shaft. What did you pay for those ramps?

Actually I just checked and it was the Rhino Ramos people were claiming had the failures. You haven’t had any issues with the new ones?

Can't you use the ramps to drive up and raise the front end, then put Jack stands down also as a safety?

Yep. Which is probably what I’ll end up doing

These things sit so high I rarely need to put it up on stands. Now my daughters little Pontiac G5 is a whole other story. :D

I use the Rhino ramps as well (16K version). I think I paid about $50 a pair on Amazon (got two pair for stuff that needs the truck level like filling diffs). I've left the truck on them overnight with no issues.

Newer ones are much stronger looking in overall design compared to the ones I broke. So far zero issues with them.

Edit - I have the 12k versions

I've never used ramps on my Power Wagon but when I use ramps on other vehicles I always use jack stands. About 10 years ago I spent some money on a set of big jack stands from Napa. They a large and heavy but perfect for working on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

My truck sits high enough that I don't normally need any ramps. On the rare occasion when I do need a little extra height, I use a pair of 4x12 wooden beam cut-offs.
