I notice that these 4th gen trucks have drain plugs for diff fluid which is convenient. On my 3rd gen I had to crack open the case.
I did like the idea of wiping the metal sludge of the magnet and giving the diff a cleaning, especially during the first break-in period. Am I overthinking this? Does anyone here still crack open the pumpkin to wipe innards clean?
Also I used m1 fluid in the past and added the LS additive. I noticed recently that some bottles now say LS on the package. Does that mean the additive is already in the oil?

The additive is premixed nowadays. I believe 1st change is at 32-35000
Just drain n refill. If the plug don't have the magnet you could order 1 on the web

I am very particular on maintenance, but I’d just drain it (hot) and refill.

I’d rather do an early oil change at a couple thousand and then again at the specified service intervals rather than grind the wear metals for a year or two before draining it.

I just bought Lucas 75W90 for both my diffs, do I need to add the LS to it or does it already have it?
