I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn. What should the ac temperature blowing out of the vents be? Mine blows out at about 50.1 degrees. and that's on Max AC. Dealer said this is normal but inside the cabin never gets cold. Especially around the head area. Any thoughts?

If you aren't satisfied with the performance of the HVAC, take the truck in and explain what is going on. You might have to explain it to a different person.

Brought the truck back twice. the first time they said it was ok. the 2nd time they said they flushed the system and got the temp to 20 degrees. laughed and said you can make ice in there. anyway, they lied. The temperature is still the same. 50 degrees. never gets colder than that.

Time to either see another dealer or contact Ram Cares!

Mine is the same, is cold, but not as cold as previous cars. Would adding freon make it colder?

Woah! The HVAC system in modern vehicles is very complex compared to 30 years ago! One doesn't just go off adding refrigerant ("Freon" is a copywrited and patented product of the DuPont Corporation!)
Your ram possibly has the new 1234yf refrigerant and it is extremely expensive!
I'd recommend that you go up the chain of command at your dealer or go elsewhere. Otherwise, Call Ramcares. They will be delighted to help you get the situation resolved!
DO NOT have anyone other than the dealer touch the A/C while it is still covered by warranty. You would risk having your warranty voided if someone other than an authorized dealer works on it.

It indeed uses the 1234yf, found out the hardway when i went to stop and bought some r134a.

I hate to tell U but 50 degrees in 90 degrees out is within Ram Specs. Now I get from 50-57 out front vents and 48.2 lowest on center rear vents. U would have to do a popular HVAC hack to get colder on the MY 19;s

HERE ARE THE SPECS: I am not happy on the poor peformance designed into the truck, but sure do enjoy driving it: But everybody has their own personal preference on stuff, IMHO...

50 degree air should cool the truck, it will take some time if the truck has been baking. Have you tried closing the windows 1st? :D

Either way, is not that important. You seem to be a diy person, should be glad this is available

Adding refrigerant won't make it colder, unless the system is low on refrigerant. Once the refrigerant charge amount goes over what supposed to be in there, you can actually lose capacity.
Another thing with the 1500 trucks is the compressor is variable, as the suction (low side) pressure goes down from the evaporator getting colder the amount of refrigerant it can move is reduced.

I'm a professional mechanic.... 44+ years.

Even better. Should be glad to have access to it. I wouldnt want them to control freon for my car
