Beautiful new Nash! Very nice, congrats! They are high quality, but expensive. I'm sure you'll love it. I'm suprised you got a good deal with how they are selling, so that's great!

Thanks! Yeah i was extremely surprised as well, scored it for not much more than a mediocre trailer so I jumped on it. The dealer is high volume, took a bit of haggling lol. It's hard to beat a Northwood product, they're built to last as is testament to my 15 year old one i just sold.

That's excellent. It's really all about what your looking for in a
TT and its great they build them that way,

I looked at those at the Hershey RV show last year and they are extremely nice. Not withstanding the true 4 seasons useage/ability, you could probably buy 3 of a similar floor plan, cheaper, stick and tin new trailer for what that cost.

But if you need a true 4 season trailer there's not many better than yours. Hope it treats you well.

My son and I will be doing some off pavement travel/dispersed camping this weekend.

Going to be exploring Rothrock and Bald Eagle State Forest.

We will be using the motorized campsites on one or the other.

Can not wait to get out in the wilderness and try out the new tent mom bought us

Found the camper we wanted at a dealership in southern michigan. been sitting on their lot since before the 'rona. So it was priced pretty low. Was going to go with that until they slapped me in the face with a low trade in value on our current camper. Not to mention the very slow response time(s) to emails or phone calls. Looks like we will be going with our 'back up' camper (which also took a $5k drop in price recently) at a closer RV dealership which offered me a much more far trade in value

Looking good man. Where are you headed? To a remote site I'm assuming? Sounds awesome. Hopefully it won't be too hot for you. I can't sleep at night when I'm hot. Safe travels and happy camping!

We are headed to explore Rothrock and Bald Eagle State Forest. We will do some biking hiking and 4x4ing.

We are staying in one of the dispersed campsites.

It is supposed to break the humid hot days for the weekend. We will be in the shade of the large trees.

Almost time to go

We got back. More to follow. A great time. But all didn't go perfect,View attachment 217373 although a perfect time was had. The kids were awesome though. They are ready to go again
That looks awesome man! Was it hot sleeping? In my area it poured buckets in the middle of the night last night, I think nearly 3" of rain total. I hope you didnt get any of that in that tent!

Glad your home and hopefully all safe.

We did get rained on. But it also brought the cool air for a great nights sleep.

We needed the rain so I welcomed it. The forest roads were so dusty. I kid you not...there was 1/8 inch of dust on our stuff when we got there.

We are safe and sound at home tonight. The kids were awesome. So glad our middle daughter decided to go. Mom was out of town and I would have had a hard time putting up the tent without here.

They did not say a cross word to each other the whole weekend. They helped each other and enjoyed the peaceful interesting wooded landscape.

The weekend was perfect...but we got a flat tire. So I got to show them both how to change one in the wilderness 20200801_191949.jpg
And we diagnosed my wheel bearing.

When we came back from the camping trip last weekend I noticed my tire was wearing funny and a new noise.

Well after smacking a hard rut and climbing over a large rock...i need to replace the passenger side bearing.

New tires and some wear items. This truck is about to hit 140k...it is a great truck.

Can not wait to go again.

That's great to hear all around, good stuff man! Glad all was well with the rain event because that was very heavy at my house. That is really beautiful scenery.

Yes, its been extremely dry here as of late. I'm hoping for another soaking rain on Tuesday when Isaias is supposed to pass by.

140k on your truck is good! No major issues? I've got 13,600 on my 2017 so still a long way to go hopefully.

Have a good Monday gents!

The wheel bearing is the first major issue...a wear item.

I am having an issue with the trailer plug wiring. Apparently it is a known issue for the wires to rub through somewhere. Almost have that fixed.

Everything else is just gas, oil and wipers.

Now for another set of tires too. Oh and brakes at 115k ish...

Just got back from a week's camping trip yesterday. Had a good time with the exception of some rude neighbors (wouldn't even say hello) and an idioit across the street who left the led lights on the nose of his 5th wheel on all night.

Me and my boys and wife Took lots of fun hikes on some trails I've never been on before, me and the boys swam in the lake every day except Thursday when the dep shut it down due to a bad water sample (go figure with all the heat we've had this past week or so)

So all in all it was a good, enjoyable trip and really pretty normal considering this pandemic. We had a full hook up site so no need to use the shower house which was a must for us.

We have a few more trips planned for this year so we'll hope for good weather.

Have a good weekend gents....

I black out the bedroom windows and vent just for the people that think they need to light up the campground all night.

Excellent idea if your rig is big enough/ designed to be able to do that. The Layton is a 1989 rig and was built for a time period when there were not nearly as many electric sites. As such it has lots of windows in it for air circulation, so it'd be very difficult to make coverings for the windows.

But it is a great idea for a future rig. What do you use to block them off?

I only black out the bedroom. Started doing that when we went to Alaska where the sun sets very late. I buy the cheap blackout paper shades and cut them to fit then tape them to the windows and vent. They block out the light in campgrounds also.
