Pin 7 at the base/hinge of the lid's 8 pin connector.
My suggestion would be to cut it on the truck side and splice in a new wire to run to the back of the trailer brake switch connector (pin ?) to get the Panel Lamps Driver signal.

On the 18 (19 classic) trucks, the Pnl Lamp Driver signal is at the i410A pin 9 under the seat but despite tech authority/DCCtools connector info, I don't think that exists on the 13-17 trucks (trailer switch always had the signal & is the next closest spot).

I had looked this up for someone else that got my original 18 console lid. The 18/19 schematics still didn't show the Panel Lamps driver wiring at pins 7 & 8 last time I checked. I added the info once I had the lid out and traced the wiring in it.

mpgrimm2 and circuitguy as always thank you for the fantastic information. I'll take a look at the i401A plug in my 2015 to see if the wiring is there on pin 9.

Nice job circuit guy..I am curious into doing this myself after seeing this post I have a few questions concerning the trim colors. Is the replacement dash you have gray or black? From the pics looks like it matches your glove box which is gray?
Also the trim panel for the instrument cluster doesn't look the same for the new Dash right by the ignition switch am I missing something? Could you possibly post a few more pics of the trim by the cluster?

The dash is black, glove box also black. The trim panel around the cluster was ordered in black but it arrived several shades off, more of a grey. I have a replacement for it just have not had time to install it.

Once I install the new cluster bezel I will post a few pics for you.

I wasn’t aware of that. But I do notice my usb hub lights are on when I happen to look see and the truck is off so I could use this “repair”. Do you know who has done this “repair” with some pictures?

No one has reported back that they have done it/posted pictures.

Another new thought I had.... On some trucks, you could move one of the PDC fuses from one position, to another.... And change the 12v outlet from being hot all the time/direct off the battery to switched with the ACC position. Not sure if that pin 7 wire is on the same circuit or not... Online schematics weren't exactly correct. (The fuse option should be listed in the owners manual)

Thanks Mike. I’ll keep all your thoughts in mind. When it comes to this kind of troubleshooting I’m certainly not the guy to ask. I’ll leave it to your experience and expertise. Appreciate all the help sir.

Good Day Gents,
I'm just getting into this project - Am i going to be looking at any wiring issues taking a complete 2014 Sport Dash with the wiring harness and installing it in my 2014 ST?

I'm no wiring guru, so i just want to ask before i install it all and plug everything in and have a smoking truck dash..... LOL

There are potential differences between trim levels and cab configurations with the wiring and signals even at the same connector... What may be a Can bus communication signal wire on your truck could be 12v direct from the battery ... Are you willing to get a Techauthority account and dig through and compare differences between the 2 trucks by VIN? I'm sure it could be done though.

Not to scare you but it's possible to have problems and best to keep your original wiring and just swap the cosmetic stuff over and do 8.4 conversion if needed.

The 8.4 isn't really needed, i am doing a aftermarket deck etc. I did want to retain the factory amp in my donor dash for the front dash speakers.

You think it safer to strip and add any wiring i need from the donor dash to my harness?

I'm looking at doing the steering wheel/column, PWD/DL, floor shift console conversion, adding the roof console w/ the home-link, keyless entry & push button start, remote start, and the rear sliding window :) .

I appreciate the advice, as ive been told different things.... some say the base wiring is the same, just plug and play kinda..... but thats my concern, if its not, could be catastrophic.

I have some schematics linked in my signature you can reference that may help.

You're likely better off (safer) cannibalizing wires/terminals out of harnesses for specific functions and adding it to your trucks connectors as you go (but remove/grab the entire harness sections if possible to limit going back and forth) .... There's just not a single straight yes/no answer on it being plug n play with whole harness sections...

Example: 34pin front end module connector (under fuse box) on a
14 ram 1500 pins 2 & 3
vs 14 ram 2500 pins 23 & 24

I got the all black Rebel with white stitching installed today. Part Came out of a 2018 Rebel, went into my 2015 SLT (with all Laramie interior items). Looks pretty good, ill get some photos tom for those that are interested.

So far the orange/grey stripe wire theory is correct on my truck as well. The back light stayed on for awhile so I just pulled the wire out of the connector and taped it off for now. Until we figure out how/which wire to splice it into. I don't really want just cut the wire.

You'll need to run it up to and splice into the trailer brake switch connector. See post 40
