Son lost his torsion bar tool for his hitch. Can't find one anywhere. He is leaving for Texas Tuesday and needs to get this hooked up. Anyone have any luck with any other type tool to get these on?

Have you tried calling Husky? They usually ship quick.

If not I would say go to harbor freight and buy a large pry bar, and then with a torch and some elbow grease bend it to something that will work.

Looks like e-trailer has them.

Husky is out of stock. etrailer has then but doubt he could have it by Monday. Called about 5 local RV dealers and nobody has one. The place he got it at is about 5 miles from his house so I would 'assume' they have one in the service dept for their use. Wondering if he can leave his house Tuesday and drive it those few miles then have them pop them on. We had thought about the pry bar method. Also thought about putting his floor jack under the torsion bar and jacking it up then sliding it over to the hitch?

I’d do the pry bar. Not sure you could get enough torsion on the bar to get it over the bracket.

Have him attach the trailer to the ball then either use a jack or the trailer tongue jack and lift up to lower the amount to force required to get the torsion bars on. Try a pry bar and block of wood about 18" long standing on end to help get the torsion bars on.

Yeah he always jacks up the truck/trailer to release pressure but it's still pretty hard to get it. But we found one to borrow just to get it hooked up so he will have to order one and have it shipped to somewhere in TX to pick it up there. Maybe the campground office will let him have it shipped to them.

So downloaded the CAT app on my phone and set up auto-pay on it so we will weigh my sons setup this week. Only problem is without the torsion bar tool we won't be able to disconnect the bars to get a true tongue weight with them unhooked. We should be in good shape though. He has 2973lbs of payload. I weighed mine last year and our trucks are identical with all the exact same options. Only differences are he has a toolbox in the bed and has aftermarket tires but they are stock size so shouldn't be enough difference to really matter. Add maybe 100lbs for toolbox and him and my step-father will be in the truck too so add about 375-400lbs for them. Mine weighed about 7250lbs with me in it and 1/2 tank of fuel so his with a full tank would be about 575-600lbs for the extra fuel, 2 extra people, and tool box. Should be about 7800lbs total for the truck itself and us. Those numbers won't match to the axle weights though because the WDH will be adding weight to it. Our max axle weights are 6500lbs rear and 5500lbs front and I'd be surprised if we are close to those. GVWR is 10,000. Even with 1200lbs tongue weight we should still only be about 9000lbs for both truck axles. Camper GVWR is 8495. I'm thinking we will be at about 8000lbs on the camper. Total should be about 17,000lbs. That's my prediction...lol. Will see how close I am.
