I often wonder about the motivation for these types of threads. This truck is so new it is doubtful anyone here is going to have a quick fix so probably not looking for "just tap the widget under the dash" suggestions. Warn other not to buy RAM. We all know that every manufacturer sells vehicles with issue hence the Lemmon Laws in the US. Find others to gather the tar and feathers. Unlikely on a brand specific forum unless the domain name in with -sux. Catharsis. Nobody really cares about nor can do anything about the problems of some anonymous poster on the Internet. I am still wondering why ....

Besides bringing in 3 times for repairs there is usually a clause concerning how long they can have the car/truck there for repairs. Check your owner's manuals. If you are still not sure call government department that covers it where you live. Don't give up. Chrysler took back my Charger for a sunroof leak.

they are going to fix your truck and everything is going to be ok.

it’s under warranty and 9 times out of 10 those mechanics in there are going to fix it right so they don’t ever have to see it again..

In Canada we do not have Lemon Laws. So I get stuck with this truck.
As long as they fix it correctly and completely. Now if they return it to tou and it acts up again, I may be inclined to pitch a real *****. Not that it will gat you anywhere, maybe the dealer can toss in somekind of perk, like oil changes or milage service packages on them in the future for your troubles???

I can't afford a new 5th gen RAM, not even a used one. My 2016 RAM 1500 Big Horn 4x4 was $36K all taxes and fees included and I got like $11K left to pay on it. I would never entertain the idea of enslaving myself and spend the rest of my life in servitude and pay over $50K for a truck that is by no measurable metric any better than what I have.

I doubt that your 2020 will fall apart on you. That must have been one expensive truck.
Lol, what paying for a truck is life in servitude? Don’t even know how you came up with that. And so long as you have to work to pay for all do and how you live, you’re in servitude, just sayin’!

I was trying to make a point about how they bumped up the prices on these trucks. Worsen they removed a lot of small features like the big screen EVIC or parking sensors that are now on RAM 1500 that cost almost $50K after rebate. I'm not looking for luxury, just for the common sense features that you need to have on a truck. But hey, thank God they have now blind spot monitoring and lane keep assist, both features I don't need. Neither do I want or need E-Torque, which will inevitably turn into a headache down the line because there is no aftermarket support for it.

Thank you! The cat's name is Yogi, and he is 6 years old now. We adopted him in 2014 after he spent about 6 months locked up in various cages in shelters. He had cage anxiety for years after that. Going to the vet with him is always difficult because of his anxiety. We call him lover boy around the house because he is very affectionate and caring.

Yeah, I follow you Phoenix, I’ve only ever bought 2 new vehicles off the showroom floor, an 03 Durango and an 11WK2, and guess who they were for that’s right the Wife. Either way I agree with you, I’d want to go back to those simpler times, when your high beam button was on the floor, you had to roll down your window’s and all the climate and radio controls were on a slide or push button. Most importantly you could open the hood and see air cleaner, valve covers, carb, intake, plug wires etc....But this is what we get for the technological advance. A vehicle you can’t trouble shoot without a computer, steering, and gas pedal are drive by wire and on top of all this it’s a damn mortgage payment. Sheet, can’t win for losing my friend.

"VIN unique" surly caught my eye. For a mass produced vehicle? VIN unique strikes slow guy, me, as odd. Maybe one of the savvy RAM guys that have been around along time can chime in on, "VIN unique".

Some have chimed, assembly line manufacturing at times cranks out problems. It's a fact. Can't do a damn thing about that aspect.

Another fact is it sucks to be the owner "new" vehicle with problems. Been there, long time ago. 95 Taurus wagon, at ~600 miles transmission had a catastrophic failure - simply 100% quit. Incredibly pissed, I was. Ford fixed it promptly. Well, ten days. Had a new car loaner. After that, my 95 Taurus, beyond routine maintenance, had zero issues. Got rid of it at 140K miles.

Presently have a 15 Laramie. Engine blew at 88K. Pissed I was, until I realized I'd get a free new engine with the truck at 88K. Warranty was drive train 7yr/100K. RAM replaced engine without issue. New Cherokee loaner. Little over 30 days as I recall. Yea, a major inconvenience. **** happens in life. Gotta roll with the punches, stand up and move on. Presently on the lifetime warranty. Cruise control, entire radio unit has been replaced... IMO, a great truck. 122K miles. Zero regrets.

On my second Grand Cherokee. Neither anything beyond routine maintenance.

May have been two screws and a few wires but they could be a royal PITA.

I was a pump jockey for a while, and recall needing to try and help people fix or replace a high beam switch multiple times a month. It was even more frequent than flasher relays and headlights. I suspect people would get sand from the beach or gravel and salt from the ski hill parking lot jamming them up, or push them off angle just enough wear them out. Then the were was the terminals breaking off or corroding, or the floor board around them rusting out.

But if you want to go back, they still make them, and you can find lots of old vehicles that use them or sale.

In Canada we don't have the Lemon Law protection that the Americans have.
We have the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP). It's national, not a state to state patchwork.

They've made FCA by back a few 1500s over the years.

Because sometimes it just feels good to ***** about a problem you shouldnt be having. That is the Motivation plain and simple. and you should be allowed to ***** about a 7 day old truck that has that many problems.

Such a cute name, I feel bad that he couldn’t find a owner sooner but i’m very happy he found you. I just got a black cat named Max who was living under a burger king ordering sign. He’s extremely sweet. It seems to be a trait of male cats to be incredibly sweet, my female cat is a total meanie though :)

Got the Truck back today. 7 weeks to fix. I hope that's it. Only thing the dealer or FCA offered was "It sucks to be you"

That sucks OP, hopefully its one and done.
These trucks have a history of being dependable? Lol. Where? My 2018 is junk already. My friend bought a 2020 and within 2 weeks his horn stopped working and he has a check engine light the dealer can't get rid of. Ill never buy a ram again.
Luck of the draw I suppose.

2009 was first model year, usually something to avoid, and to date not a horrible list for 11 years and 140K miles excluding wear items like brakepads and bulbs, 1) had some plastics that deteriorated from over a decade parked in Texas sun (cheap snapin replacement) 2) AC issue (fixed under warranty), 3) soft hemi tick (never fixed doesn't seem to hurt anything) 4) waterpump wheel bearing shot (replaced it myself) 5) door lock regulator failed 6) Driver's vented seat turns on and makes noise and no error but can't feel the air (think its clogged from a decade of use). 7) Passenger mirror courtesy light failed, easy snap in replacement.

Not problem free, but relatively cheap cost of ownership with no major show stoppers.

My Family and I have owned over 20 chrysler built vehicles spanning 6 decades and the "all new Ram" was the worst!!!
I do not like Ford, GM, Toyota or Nissan. I had a 15 Ram and a 17 Ram with zero issues. And amazingly! My 2020 classic has had zero issues!

I am at 8k miles on my new Classic. I will be happy to start a new topic in comparison after my first 13 months. 2020 Ram 1500 Classic vs 2019 All New Ram 1500. So far the classic is winning!!!

I owned the all new Ram for 13 painful months.
