Curious, does the 13-17 rams media hub work with the uas/uaq 18 radio for android auto but not apple car play? In my tireless research I found somewhere that someone reported that it did work for android auto, so they did not need to convert to the 18 hub. I am seeking others to confirm as will I once my UAQ arrives next week to install in my 15. I am an android user so could care less about apple working and if true then it is a large expense savings and even more with locating needed components.

on another similar note, has anyone successfully relocated the media hub to under the cellphone holder area? I am currently working on that solution as I do not care to use the arm rest area to place my phone nor run a wire out from there. I like my stuff clean and as if its designed that way.

As to your first question, it appears early firmwares for the radio supported the older hubs but no longer. The only way it will continue to work if your firmware is not old is to upgrade the hub. In addition, I believe there is one 2017 hub that only works for Android Auto and not Carplay.

It works!

It's a very messy setup right now but I'm just going to tape it all up and zip tie it under the knee panel for now so I can get some time with it and make sure it doesn't accidentally screw with anything else. I've got another board on the way that's already got the two CAN transceivers attached which should make it a much better DIY solution for anyone else who would want to try this. I'll do a writeup for this once I'm confident it won't mess anything up.

Freaking awesome that you got it to work
I honestly doubt it will mess anything up because it only broadcast the signal when you have it in reverse

I’ve got a T harness where we could
T in to the can in the back of the Radio I definitely be willing to help you out I’m sure this is above a lot of guys heads there’s probably some money in it if we want to work on building some

if you’re interested maybe we can work out a partial trade if you don’t have a premium Cluster i’ve got an extra one for diesel
Get out of the 16 so the song title should work correctly but you have to turn off your tpms

If you want to send me the T-harness, I'll build one of these around it for you. Right now I'm tapping into the OBD port but in line to the radio would be pretty sweet.

I've found 2 problems with it so far:
1) If you shift to reverse then use the soft key (the X) to turn the display off then shifting to reverse no longer causes the backup camera to turn on. I can replicate this behavior in AlfaOBD but it's fixed by reconnecting. I have to fiddle with my code to see if I can fix this.
2) If you start the truck while in reverse, it doesn't want to work. I also think I can fix this in my code but am not sure.

Right now I use the CAN message for reverse/not reverse to trigger the messages to turn on the backup camera. If the reverse messages aren't reliable enough, I'll have to tap directly into the reverse switch.

@Roman217 has been helping me troubleshoot the above, but I've been so damned busy at work this week I haven't had a chance to dig into it yet.

Thanks bud, I've got a premium cluster already but what's this with the song title and TPMS stuff? My TPMS works perfectly with my cluster but certain satellite radio stations don't show up...is that because of the year of the cluster? I got the thing off eBay and am not sure what year it's from.

Being that you have a 13 you’re kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place do you need a 16 or newer cluster for the song title to show up correctly but if you run any year different then a 2013 you’ll have problems with your tpms
That’s why I simply turn it off on 13s

Send me your address and I’ll send you the t-harness
If you want I can even buy you one so you can do yours behind the radio I know where to get them pretty inexpensively they’re actually designed for a radio module but you only have to make about three slices and everything is connected back together

There’s absolutely no rush either life needs to come first and we’ll get it done when we get it done
I’m just glad we can work on it and come up with a solid solution

I still think if we could figure out a way to do a hard trigger that would be a better set up even if it needed a relay to come off of that reversing lights

I've got issue #1 sorted. I had a typo in the code that was causing it. Fixed it and now you can manually turn off the backup camera, shift out of reverse, then go right back into reverse and it works.

Issue #2 is still there but less severe. Shifting out of reverse then back in makes the camera turn on so this is livable. I'm still working to figure out a good way to make this work though.

Alright, I like the TPMS more than I do the EVIC display showing up right so I'll stick with what I've got.

That'd be great! I'll message you! Having it in the OBD port is convenient for developing this, but I won't want it there long term. I've already got a CSP4 switch attached to it and I brush that every now and then when pushing in the clutch. Back of the radio should be much cleaner.
