Today, I realized that I haven't posted here in several months. I think I'll take a brief moment to reflect on some of the adventures and misadventures of this summer. But first, COVID can kiss my ass.

Okay, so I never did figure why my transmission was acting up last year, but I haven't had any problems this year. I'm just gonna have to guess that the multiple back-and-forth trips to haul hay simply overheated it. Changed the fluid and filter a few months ago and was delighted to not find any shavings or chunks in the pan. Wasn't a difficult job, but holy crapload of bolts, Batman!

I purchased a set of louvers for the rear. Love 'em or hate 'em, I think they look pretty awesome! Also, they were on backorder, and it took me something like two months before I finally received them...

My truck has gone by many names over the years, but now, I've settled on "Minion." And no, that is not a reference to the ******* guys from "Despicable Me," it's a reference to the badass demon that would come and kick your ass in his tank in the old "Twisted Metal" games.

The Duratracs are starting to show their age. I'm planning on digging up my 17" rims and buying a new set. Should give the truck a bit more lift plus the added weight (17's are steel, my current 16's are aluminum) should help with traction.

The bed has developed it's first hole. Shortly afterwards, I noticed a hole forming in the passenger-side rear door. It really is getting high-time to do some bodywork, LOL.

The engine has also developed a loud tick. Started off as a loud tick that would disappear while driving, but resurface while under heavy throttle. I can't find any leaks at the headers, so I dropped the oil and added some Seafoam. Still has a loud tick during cold start which is less so during hot start, but it no longer ticks under heavy load. Perhaps one of the lifters has one foot in the grave?

Mileage is just about to hit 210,000. Here's to hitting the big three-zero-zero!

Also, yesterday, I, in an amazing display of skewed priorities, ordered a 52mm throttle body from HiPoTek to replace my modified 50mm. Since Ryan's tune is meant to be used with a 52 rather than a 50, it'll be interesting to see what difference there is. Or, you know, there might not be anything perceptible, LOL.

Winter's coming and so will the usual annual challenges. Got some wrenching to do before the snow falls and I really gotta get to it. Friggin' lows are already hitting the freezing point, so it's anyone's guess when it's gonna start!

Got the front bumper cover painted, and the right side emblem changed recently. Replaced the headlights and grille a while ago. Still have to repaint the pillar between the side windows black and repair rust on the left rear wheel well. The interior is beautiful now, too. I think it's coming along nicely!

Swapped the crankshaft position sensor yesterday as my O'Reilly's (AAARRRGH) replacement decided to play a game of "hey, I'm gonna randomly konk while you're driving and see what happens, won't it be fun?!" To be fair, it lasted longer than all of the other electronics I've gotten from there, but, cross my heart and hope to die, I'd rather go through hell and back with a stick up my ass and my hands glued to my head before I buy another electronic from O'Reilly's. SOB, I've had absolutely nothing but problems with their stuff, made especially irritating by how expensive they are. Reliability and prices like that and they wonder why everyone's switching to mail-order...

I also received my HiPoTek 52mm throttle body and bolted that on afterwards. Haven't done a proper road test yet (I was pretty bombed by the time i finished), but from what I could gather, the engine definitely has some more get-up-and-go and more quickly revs to 3,000 RPM. Considering my tune was meant to use a 52mm rather than a 50mm, this shouldn't be surprising. Once I've logged some road miles, I'll post an update.

You have a PosiLok setup too? Can't say I've ever had a need to use 2-low, but it sure makes for a nice option.

I've been driving for a week now with the new throttle body, and overall I'm quite happy with the results. The throttle response is noticeably snappier and the truck accelerates a bit quicker. The idle hangs between 900-1,000 RPM however, which is definitely high with this configuration. I'm going to dial it back, much as a part of me doesn't really want to since, with this idle speed, the truck really snaps and goes from a standstill! Maybe I should just have the computer reflashed with a target idle of 900 RPM instead of the current 650 RPM instead...

And after thinking about it, it would seem that pretty much the only bolt-on modification left to make, other than swapping the intake manifold, which I don't want to do, is a set of Harland Sharp 1.7 roller rockers. I've got a noisy lifter that should be replaced sooner rather than later anyway, and that would be a pretty good excuse to just go ahead and splurge for a set...

I use 2 low when I need the gearing to pull or crawl but also need to turn tight. As we know a tight turn in 4WD is playing pull the pin on the grenade with the front u joints.

Fixed the driver rear door... it stuck and it wasn't because the rod needed adjusting. I presume the PO never opened the thing. Whole mechanism was rusted in place. A well placed kick to the door after removing the panel and pulling on the handle opened it. Had to completely remove the lower mechanism, put it in a vice and work it... took hours but now it works great.

I found that out the hard way after struggling for what seemed like hours on my radiator i cut it loose just to take out the radiator no biggie once I actually looked it up. I could pull it from my parts truck. I've saved an easy 2500 in parts from a truck I got for 400 bucks

Hey All,

New to the gang here. I just acquired a low mileage 2001 2500 single cab 4x4 auto with a 5.9 magnum. Great running truck. Really enjoying it. But you know how it goes... how do I get more HP out of that 360? I read through some posts and see you can get close to 400HP out of this engine with the stock intake and injectors. I also read member Merc225hp is the guy with all the knowledge. I really would like to pick his brain on this subject. Can anyone put us together? Anyone else here know of a great forum in here that discusses this very topic? Thank you all in advance!

Picked up a load of pellets. Even with front levelers she only squatted 2 in or so. Not bad for 20 year springs. She carries this load up to 10 times a winter between a friend and myself.
