I entered USAF Basic Training on this day in 1972.

About a month later this picture was taken at Lackland AFB, TX:

My first day of AF basic training was also today, 26 Nov 1996. Next week will also be my 4 year anniversary of my retirement, 1 Dec 2016.

Do you still have your dog tags? When did you take them off and stop wearing them??
Me:
I took mine off when I retired. I still have them too. I've also got my dad's and my grandpa's too. I've thought about putting mine back on but don't like wearing jewelry. Hell I don't even wear my wedding ring. It gets welding bb's on it and they're a ****** to get off.

I've got my dog tags and my grandson was quite interested in seeing them.

Along the line of generational tags... My Father-in Law, passed away a few years ago at 90, pinned his jump wings on his son (my wife's brother) when he graduated from jump school, and those same wings were pinned on his son (our nephew), when he graduated jump school.

Lost my dog tags decades ago,
I think they were in my Dads house and get tossed during a cleanup.

Gave my dog tags to my kids at my retirement ceremony. Pretty sure they lost them.
