Are the best places to get heated and cooled seats still seats n such and eBay? I am thinking about doing this to my 2016 Big Horn and there are no local wreckers anywhere near my location.

Thanks
I found mine on ebay but the prices have gotten ridiculous in most cases. You can also check Car-Par.com. This is where wrecking yards list items for sale. If you find any seats make sure they are for a 13 or newer Ram with airbags. If the bags are blown you can usually get a much better deal and then just install your airbags as long as the seats themselves weren't damaged in the accident.

Thanks Rick, I will check there also. I have noticed prices have seemed high so I have been reluctant to do it but it seems like prices just keep going up. Maybe I will just get a new truck.

So I need some advice, I installed a used heated clock spring to install my heated wheel and now I’m getting air bag service light that I didn’t have before. I’m guessing the clock spring is bad ??? Every thing else works like it should.

The one thing I did do was leave the air bag disconnected while I indexed the clock spring which did start the error, but I thought it would clear itself once I installed the air bag.

It's hard to say what happened but in many cases the used clocksprings have been over rotated and damaged. The guys at the wrecking yards apparently don't understand how delicate they are and that they need to stay centered.

The clock spring did come off a truck that had blown the air bag and I had to disassemble my old connectors and use them on the one I installed, thought I would at least try it before I bought a new one. My guess is that it is bad, plus Alpha OBD shows I have an open circuit in the DS air bag. Will that clear it self if the system is fully operational, or is that something that needs to be reset. Thanks

I would go in and clear all the codes with the Alfa tool after you get everything fixed just to make sure it's all reset. Then try all the features and check for codes again. If any codes come back you know you still have an issue.

Ok I made it to page 300 and was like this is a lot.
I have a 2018 1500 crew that has heated seats and steering wheel already and wanted to add vented. Would all I need is vented compatible seats then just turn feature on in alfaobd? Is it just plug and play for vented seats?

I've tried to locate any suggestions to my question but no luck so far I have Alpha OBD and have programmed a 2012 2500 to add front cool/heat seats, rear tailgate release, folding mirrors, remote start, and I found selection for rear heated seat to add and once I select start it says it's set, however when I go to engage the rear heated seats nothing. I've noticed when I go back in the Alpha OBD all the bits I've added to the truck show up as present which is correct however Rear Heated Seats doesn't list anything no present so I try to program again and same thing. I believe if the truck has the bits from the factory it may or may not say present but there was no rear heat seats in this truck from the factory as there were non in front either. Just curious if anyone has thoughts on how to trouble shoot, possible the module is bad? (I think that is unlikely). The cab harness is correct as I swapped it out to get the front and rear seats to plug in the an oem harness as it should.

Yes, all you would need is to enable the codes with the Alfa tool. One thing to note is if your truck doesn't have the 8.4" screen in some cases the vented seats will not work. If you have the 8.4" screen you should be fine. Make sure the seats you get are for a 13 or newer. The 09 to 12 seats will NOT work in the 13 and up trucks no matter what the wrecking yards or ebay say.

So just plug and play? No new wires or boxes? Sounds to easy lol

Yes, as long as your new seats have all the wiring and modules intact "which they should" it's plug and play once you enable the correct codes. You should also install a new switch panel with the correct heated/vented seat buttons. The vented seats should work without the new switch panel by using the soft keys on the radio but it's much easier to use the switch panel to turn the seats on and off. Also make sure you change the seat material type to perforated leather at the same time you enable the vented seat codes.

I haven’t been able to find the answer.
Can an RA2 5.0 radio run the heated seats/ wheel if the codes are added? I currently have AUX switches and don’t want to ditch those for seat switches and current not super interested in going to an 8.4 screen. Thanks!

I haven't seen anyone do it without the switch panel due to the fact that the radio doesn't have the App screen to display the soft keys to turn them on and off. I would recommend turning on All the correct codes just to see if the controls come up anywhere on the screen. I wouldn't recommend trying to press the soft keys without having the seats and wheel installed and wired. It will throw a ton of DTC codes. Just see if they show up anywhere.

@Cmacks88 Can you check the part number of your HSM? It is under the drivers seat at the front left corner. If you slide the seat all the way forward, you will be able to read the label. If you have a 68217268xx it should work without the conversion harness.

....

The HSM in my 2015 Laramie is 68217268AB. So it is a newer revision of the same module as the 2014 GC Summit HSM I tested in my truck.

I think the HSM upgrade would work instead of buying the conversion harness and even when buying a new HSM it is still $100 cheaper.

....

EDIT3: The wiring for the 2015 HSM that works with the UAQ radio matches up on the wiring and connections for 2013 and 2014 trucks so it would be a direct swap with no extra modules.

EDIT4: Looking at the part numbers, 68217268AF supersedes the 680x HSMs found in 2013 and 2014 RAMs and the 2014/15 GCs. So now I am about 99% sure a HSM swap would work instead of buying conversion module from Infotainment. It pretty well covers all the gen 4 1500/2500/3500 and the 19/20 classic.

FYI... @Buckeye2019 is finishing up his seat install today (he has a prior UAQ upgrade) and here's what he has...

2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman CC (8.4 conversion from RA2 to UAQ )

Installing: 2014 Ram 2500 MC Laramie Seats w/Mem
(verified driver seat has 68217268Ax Heated Seat Module 'HSM' )
> Also has Switch Bank Buttons for Heated/Cooled Seats and Wheel.

Hopefully he will respond back on how it all goes once AlfaOBD programming changes are done (ref: settings Summary List in heated Seat/Wheel thread at : Post 1868) and can verify that the UAQ on-screen menus work for the seats with that newer HSM.

This is a re-post from the DIY UAQ/UAS Upgrade thread

Hey guys .
Buddy of mine has a 2011.
He swapped the interior from a 2017.
I cannot get the heated seats and wheel to work .. any ideas?
All the fuses are in, switch panel and I have activated any of the codes I thought might need to be done.
The passenger seat has a 2009 module the driver seat has a 2017.
Power seats worked right away..
I know we normally deal with 13 and up but any help would be greatly appreciated..

If you're using the HSM module from a 13 or newer which it sounds like you are the heated/vented seats and heated wheel will not work. The modules with the newer seats will not communicate with the 2011 truck's BCM. Not sure what you mean by "module in the passenger seat" but all it should have is the power inverter which has nothing to do with the heated/vented seats and heated wheel. His best bet is to find a set of seats that is for the correct year if he wants those options in the factory configuration.

Ya HSM is from a '17 unfortunately.
I'm just trying to help the guy out.
I told him to get an 09 to 12 heated seat module to try. He did look up the parts and they do connect the same as the 2017
