Good morning. I was wondering if anyone has had success in turning the side view mirror turn signal into a side marker. I have a ‘13 2500. I have changed Obd to yes on both the CBC features and CBC config. Still not working. Any one with success???

i guess same question goes with drl. I followed instructions I found on this thread. And it didn’t work for me. Optional drl to select bulb. Etc. Any thoughts on this one too? Thank you

you cant turn the side view mirror lights into marker lights without a harness. nothing you can program it to do.

Hey Guys,
I'm not sure if anyone has had this issue or not with their Ram. But I have a 2019 1500 EcoDiesel Laramie, I'm trying to change the tire size from the stock 275/60R20 to my winter 265/70r17 tires. I used the directions on here by choosing "BODY COMPUTER - MY2013-17 PowerNet" then " Program Tire Size" and selecting "P265/70R17 A/T". However once I do that and switch the ignition back to RUN, I get a message on my dash "AUTOPARK DISABLED", "SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE" and "MEMORY CANNOT BE SET WHILE VEHICLE IN MOTION" ??? Which is weird since I'm still parked and the truck isn't even on. As soon as I switched back to the factory 275/60R20 setting those error codes disappeared. Am I using the correct Control Unit - "MY2013-17 PowerNet" or should I be using " BODY COMPUTER -MY2019 PowerNet" ?

I'd use the 2019 powernet, then you have to connect to the abs, my2019 bosch/continental then do static ecu initialization and clearing rolls information

Security Gateway Bypass, Cable harness vs. module: pros-cons for 18-19 Classic. Not for my truck (2014 2500), buddy added trailer brake module on his 19 1500 Classic so I've offered to make the necessary changes using my OBD MX+ and app. I doubt he will be making many more changes, nor will he need it hooked up full time, he's 81 and keeps things simple. He will be buying the adapter.

Harness vs Module, easy decision. Harness installation / removal less than 5 minutes each way, module you have to pull the bezel and radio every time. Kaodtech the harness supplier is @DeereGuy a vendor here on the forum and someone who put effort into the the whole AlfaOBD thread along with many other wonderful people here. We're like family and we help each other, I always look to spend my $ here first.

Ah, after looking up the location of the modules on the obdGenie and infotainment sites, I see your point. While the actual connections seem simpler, yeah, didn't realize it was behind the radio. Granted, this may only be a one time application, but getting the bezel out with a full console looks more complicated than my 2014 SLT with the flip seat. Would it hurt to leave the harness in place with just the white and green wires left plugged in,but removing the actual adaptor and going back to just the original OBD port, or should I remove it entirely ?

@band nerd just remove it from the lower dash panel, unplug the factory OBD connector from the bypass. Tuck the security bypass harness up under the dash with a velcro wrap and then plug the factory OBD connector back in the lower dash panel. Just do the opposite whenever you need to make a change again. It's really quick and easy and the best way to go. It hurts absolutely nothing to leave it there.

So I can leave the green and white leads plugged in? Not my truck, but the guy is like a second Dad, and I won't need the harness for my truck.

Please Read!!!
Supported years: 2013 to 2018
Make a backup of your original BCM configuration before making any changes. While we have a few BCM configs to compare with, there is nothing like comparing to your own pre-changes.

Instructions:
Uploading System ID (BCM) Information: Thank you Mpgrimm2
To upload your System ID information (BCM) go to the "Tools" icon in the upper right corner. From there select "Upload to Google Drive", it will ask you to link to Google Drive. Link your Google Drive to Alfa. Select "Upload to Google Drive" and "Upload Faults and Status Log". Then select "Body_Chrysler_Info". Name the file to upload whatever you wish. Done! Now you can go to your Google Drive and read the system info a little easier.

For viewing the information directly on the app, go to the bottom and select the battery icon once a connection has been made. Then select Read System ID. It should start populating below. Form what I have seen the Alfa programming tool keeps a record by date of all changes in the BCM from time of first connection.

WORKAROUND UNTIL DEV HAS FIXED POST #8734 and 8735 Thank you @enolS

Only make changes you are sure of.
There are quite a few setting in the AlfaOBD software that are just not for us Ram owners. What you will find in Alfa are code settings for most FCA vehicles. If it makes sense and if another Ram has it from factory, then chances are you can set it. You must also keep in mind not only code settings will get you what you want, you will also need the proper hardware installed. Alfa is not magical!!!

Hello all! Below is a list of known working codes when using AlfaOBD and the OBDLink MX Bluetooth with Android tablet/phone. This thread is to get the information out about this program/tool and its powerful interface. Ricks Ram, STecoD, Mpgrimm2 and I have been able to activate the following codes with no ill effect. I personally have been in contact with the developer several times and he is very willing to help and is pushing updates fairly regularly.

AlfaOBD is only available to Android and Windows platform. There is NO iPhone support.

AlfaOBD
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.AlfaOBD.AlfaOBD

OBDLink MX Bluetooth
https://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-426101-OBDLink-Bluetooth-Professional/dp/B006NZTZLQ

MX vs MX+
***The MX+ is supposed to be slightly faster, comes with Enhanced Diagnostics Add-on and works with iOS devices. The price difference is only like $10. If you already have the MX the only major reason to change to the MX+ is if you want to use it with iOS(There is no AlfaOBD on iOS).*** Thanks @crash68

While there are other ways of connecting to your BCM with AlfaOBD, the above OBDII adapter has been tested and is preferred.

Before attempting any of this be sure to skim through the instructions/help pdf on getting started.
ANDROID http://www.alfaobd.com/AlfaOBD_Android_Help.pdf
WINDOWS http://alfaobd.com/AlfaOBD_Help.pdf

DeereGuy: In case anyone with a 2018 RAM would like to make changes to their truck, we have just officially announced a security bypass harness that will let alfaOBD and other tools work with the 2018s.

Please make notes for every code you set!!!
If there is a problem this will give you a starting point in which to go back and change what went wrong. We have found nothing in the codes listed below that is not reversible. While it is possible to select multiple codes at once, it is recommended to set one code at a time then let the truck sleep 3 to 5 minutes. When I first started this I noticed some of my codes didn't take right away. I believe it is because I was not giving it enough time.

Known Working List This link provides a working list of codes that will be updated periodically with new additions.

Write-ups for a few of the commonly sought after changes in Alfa. Thank you @1500ram12

Do not use an app called SRTactivator. It could possibly leave your truck inoperable or at very least needing to have the BCM flashed at the dealer. It is strongly advised to not change the "Vehicle Line" or "Vehicle Brand". Be very careful in making changes to settings you are unsure of or that have not been tested.

FYI - AlfaOBD needs to be connected to your truck in order for you to be able to see all the settings. While most of them will show, you will not have several other as well as all the CSMs.

Ricks Ram: "I wanted to mention it might be a good idea for guys to leave positive comments in the Google Play Store or wherever you buy the alphaOBD tool from and mention that you're using it for your RAM so the developer will see how many of us who are using the tool are from the Ram community. I'm thinking it might help us in the future as he refines a tool when he knows how many guys are using it for Ram trucks since it was primarily used for Alfa Romeos and other cars prior to the Ram pickup.

I'll continue to update as I find new working codes or fixes to issues as given to me.

Special thanks out to Ricks Ram, STecoD and Mpgrimm2!! I don't believe I missed anything here but if I did, please let me know and I will edit. Thanks!

Wondering if this app supports reading 2016 RAM 3500 Limited DRW Cummins factory rear air suspension height settings, and if it provides the ability to allow the user to modify the rear air suspension settings? Thanks.

Hi Aimee, no unfortunately I haven't yet. But I will have time today. I forgot to mention that my ram is a 2019 Classic DS and not the new DT body. Does that make any difference to the instructions you're suggesting?

Alright lads, I've been having issues programming mileage and hours lately, I have done about 13-16 cluster programming so it's not like I don't know what the heck I'm doing lol. I'm wondering if theres anyone else having these issues.

I keep getting the "procedure failed" message and sometimes even though it says that, the programming does take, and the "procedure completed" but it doesn't take the programming, I do start with the VIN write and procede with mileage correction to the follow with the idle and lifetime engine hours.

I am using the same phone I used the first time I downloaded the app.

Also just did a diesel cluster swap and the def guage wouldn't go past -50% def, the cluster comes from a 2014 ecodiesel and the ram i installed is a 2017 2500, now through some reading I learned that ecodiesels have an 8 gallon def tank while the hd's have a 5 gallon def tank, is there a step to calibrate the def gauge?

I personally haven't tried it on a 19 classic . But I'm about to for a guy.
Please keep me updated I would appreciate that.
I'm just realizing that while working on a 19 classic DS yesterday I was using 19 DT. So I'm not so sure it matters because I was successful with DT on a DS

I have tried searching through this post and I cant seem to find what I'm Looking for. Hopefully someone can help me out.
I have just bought and installed new headlights, I went from the Quad halogens to full LED. high beam and low beams are led as well as the turn signal and running lights. Before I installed these I had also installed some LED Fog lamps. I had no trouble with anything until I installed the new led lights. The lights I put in work intermittently. maybe 15 or so minutes and then turn off. My Fog lights wont even turn on now. I'm hoping that this AlfaOBD will help solve my problem. And hopefully I can get some insight and help to walk me through the changes that need to be made. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Chris,
Do you have them set to LED or HID in Alfa?

I have not done anything yet.... I'm waiting to spend the $150+ to get everything until there is somewhat of a certainty that this could fix the issue. If you think it will fix the issue then I will order it. But not sure which options I need to pick when I Have Alfa open. Going through the thread looks like I will need to change several options.

Yes you'll need alfaobd if you don't want to use canbus adapters.
You'll need to set high intensity discharge lights -enabled (this is what disabled the pwm feature that causes issues with led/hid)
You don't have to but you can enable led low beams, same with the highs (they aren't controlled by pwm)
Fogs you'll have to enable leds
