So my 14 ram with a little over 90k that I bought with 73k has no heater, heater core is fine. Flushed it and it doesn’t get hot at all. It’s Replaced the thermostat a couple actuators behind the dash and made sure there’s no air in the system. My guess is the right temp sensor. Has anyone else had these issues? 77f82dd9ccc317afa59c48e97133a786.jpg

Are all the coolant hoses getting hot under the hood?
Are you running the winter front?

As crash68 asked are coolant hoses hot, do you smell antifreeze or see any leaks. And yes a bad temperature sensor can cause this. Low coolant, bad heater core, bad temp sensor, bad thermostat and air in the system. Make sure you have coolant flow throughout the system. The radiator uses the outside air, fan and coolant to cool the system and the heater core uses the heat to warm it.

check your coolant lines to and from the heater core itself. Also check your coolant over flow tank. I just went through an issue where coolant was leaking. thought it was my over flow tank, ended up being a heater core hose was cracked and starting to leak. Talking 2-3 quarts in 100 miles bad

I can't help but ask, is the truck getting up to full operating temp? The Cummins Tstats are designed so that if they fail they fail in the full open postion. Just a thought

Yes it is. The hoses get hot and the coolant level is fine. It does use coolant though but the floor is dry

Having the same issue with my 2014 with the 6.4L hemi. About froze to death the very first time we needed heat since buying the truck back in June of 2020. So discovered my coolant temps were not getting above 185. Replaced the thermostat topped the coolant bottle, all lines are warm and I am now getting some heat, but not great. No leaks I can find or smell. Coolant temps now 204 ish (more like fluctuating between 199 and 204). I do have the dual climate control setup. So next step or steps? Full coolant system flush and maybe replacing a bad sensor? Hate taking it to the dealer if I can fix it. :help:

Same exact problem with mine although it’s not the dual climate control

Glad I live in Texas until I get this figured out, sucks when riding my Harley in the snow is the same as riding in my truck heat wise.

Yeah it’s cold af. I’ve flushed my heater core replaced some haggard blend doors calibrated them pressure tested the heater core along with bleeding the system it just won’t get hot and I don’t understand why.

So I took mine to the dealer as my temp gun has died for good and my hands can only feel warm or cold, and not with a great degree of accuracy either. Problem is a plugged heater core. I don't have the time with work at the moment to tear it apart so they are doing that and a couple of other maintenance items that need to be done. The darn labor charge for 9+ hours for them to do is going to suck big time however. :puke:

Replacing the heater core is a 1-day or weekend gig if you have access to a A/C shop that can evacuate your A/C system. Odds are, if your heater core is done, your Evap is probably clogged up as well or not far behind especially in a 6 yr old system. Might as well replace both while the HVAC is out for a core replacement.
