Just making sure I read this right... If I only have the yellow plug under the driver seat of my '17 Express, then I'm not wired for a heated wheel, correct?

No, your Express will need the harness from M2mods who is in the vendor section in order to work unless you have a regular cab. The Quad Cab and Crew Cab are not pre wired fot the heated/vented seats and heated wheel.

Hello - I am adding heated seats to my 2019 Ram 2500 Tradesman and I have already swapped the seats and steering wheel but I am waiting on the center stack with the heated buttons and the clock spring to arrive to finish the install. My seats where already pre-wired from what I could tell under both the passenger and driver seats and my driver seat is already turning the seat heat on when the temps are below 40 degrees. I added these codes last night with alfaobd but my 8.4 radio is still not displaying the "climate" or "controls" selection under apps. I made the changes 24 hours ago and have cycled the truck 5-6 times today driving around. Here is what I changed since I do not have vented or rear heated seats.

Memory-Front Vented Seats Present (Not Changed)

ECUConfig 3-Front Vented Seats Present (Not Changed)

ECUConfig 3-Front Heated Seats Present (Changed)

ECUConfig 3-Heated Steering Wheel Present (Changed)

Memory-Rear Heated Seats Present (Not Changed)

CustSetMenu 1-Auto-on driver comfort CSM (option 2-3) (Changed)

Memory-Heated Steering Wheel Present (Changed)

ECUConfig 4-Heated Seat Present (Changed)

It sometimes takes the radio several key cycles I in order for options to show up. It will show up as Controls on your Apps screen. When you press the soft key it should bring up the seats and wheel. Does it show on the upper right corner when the seats and wheel are on? I'm assuming you didn't install the switch panel so there is no way to manually turn them on and off. It looks like you have all the correct codes enabled so I would think they should eventually show up.

there is no icon in the upper right corner when the driver seat comes on below 40 degrees outside. This is what my screen looks like but still no controls :( I have ordered the clock spring and center stack but I don’t have the parts yet. I was hoping the soft keys would at least show up so I could turn the seats on and off while I wait for the parts.

Thats odd. I honestly am not sure what you have going on. I also noticed you have very few apps on your screen. Is there another page you can scroll side to side or is that it? I haven't messed with a 5th gen 2500 so I can't really be to much help because we haven't had much testing yet. I can say it's the first 8.4 I've seen that the icons didn't actually come up on at least on the right side upper screen when the heated seat or wheel is on. I noticed you did turn on your heated wheel when you don't actually have it yet. This shouldn't necessarily cause the issue you are having but it's definitely throwing DTC codes in your truck.

Yeah the lack of apps has been like this since new. No other apps on the other pages you can drag the existing apps to other pages but they are all blank. If I shut off the heated wheel to clear the dtc’s and leave the seats active in the ecm should the controls menu still show up? I know this isn’t tried and true yet but hopefully I can get mine working once I have all the parts so others can start mod’ing :)

I can tell you that on the 4th gen trucks the controls would show up if you just enabled the heated seats. I would think they would on a 5th gen HD but I have no first hand experience.

Wanted to keep others updated, I now have working heated seats in my 2019 Ram 2500 tradesman. The soft keys are present in the 8.4 radio and I can turn the seats on and off. Once I get the clock spring installed I will update the thread and let you all know if the steering wheel works. So far I have added no wiring to my truck it has all been plug and play.

I was missing these additional settings to the list above that Jimmy07 helped me with.

Memory front heated seat present- YES

Seats B front heated seat levels- 3 LEVEL (high/med/low/off)

Cabin Net Comfort Seat Wheel Module- ENABLED

Recently added the Katzkin leather interior and their heated seat pads. Presently they are key on power with switches added on the side of the seats. I'd like to have the seats activate with the remote start. Is there such a thing as a wire that's activated with the remote start that I could use as a power source or trigger for the aftermarket heated seats? '17 Tradesman dually with RA4 and auto temp upgrades already. I have the AlfaOBD also.

Unfortunately your setup is unable to communicate with your truck's CAN system. The heated/vented seats with remote start feature doesn't just have another wire that triggers via remote start. It's actually controlled through the trucks CAN system through the exterior temp sensor and then through the heated seat module. In the factory configuration the heated seats won't turn on automatically unless the temp is °40 or less and the vented seats will automatically come on if the temp is °80 or higher. There is no way that we have found to change this setting with the Alfa tool so you wouldn't be able to set them to automatically come on every time you remote started the truck even if there was a dedicated wire that you could tap into.

I am posting here as directed by mpgrimm2

I currently own a 2016 ram rebel hemi, 4x4 with 8.4 uconnect and heated seats and heated steering wheel.

I have already purchased a switch panel that has all my current switches (air ride up/down, tcs, parking sensors, tow/haul, heated seats and wheel, etc) plus the cooled seats buttons.

I have also already located 2 2016 Laramie seats with the cooled option.

I am trying to see if my truck is already wired for these or if I will need the harness.

i420 Pass Side Seat connector is good...

I can't tell on the driver side yellow and grey connectors what I'm looking at?
Is that the seat side or the truck side? We need to see the truck side coming out of the carpet. & Flip the image over if you can.

Here's an example of what we are trying to check...46ccbca47db923a04b28a7473bb27d27.jpg

If your driver's side truck side yellow seat connector has two pink wires with yellow stripes your truck is pre wired for heated/vented seats. A Rebel should be pre wired. It looks like it is from the pictures you posted but they are hard to see. This is a pic of the minimum required for them to function. 4553761493ba4927cb4cdd1b40d9846e.jpg

If I’m reading that right, my truck is pre-wired to add vented seats. I currently have heated seats and wheel.

This may sound like a question from someone who doesn’t know how these systems work within the seat because that’s exactly what I am. Since my truck is new I don’t want to replace the seats, but is there a way to add the vented motor and accessories to my current cloth seats?

M² Mods.

i will take a better pic when i get home. both pics are from where the truck side of the wiring enters the back of its plug. but yes, they are both terrible pictures.

i do have the pink and yellow wires in the yellow plug on the drivers side. the pic you posted has pins 1 7 and 8.

i have those pins, but pin one is black instead or red like yours, doubt that matters tho

The actual seat harness and seat heater assembly is different in your cloth heated seats. The heated/vented seats have the ventilation fans integrated into the heating pads with air flow holes built into the foam cushions. It could probably be done but in the end it wouldn't be worth the effort and cost involved. You are correct that your truck is pre wired from the factory for the factory heated/vented seats if you ever decided to upgrade your seats. There are also companies that make kits to install vent fans in seats. The fans wouldn't work through the factory switches or automatically turn on with remote. They would have a separate switch to turn them on and off.
