this is what im doing also. but i broke one of the tabs off when getting the obd out to put the stock one back in place. now it wont stay in place when i put back. i guess i really need a new obd port installed on the buy pass cable now.@ripping r I just leave it plugged in the blocks and disconnect it from the OBD connector when I go to the dealer. I plug the OEM one pack in place and tuck the bypass back up under the dash and secure it to the main wiring harness with a Velcro tie.
Yes, I would go for the new OBD port. There's only seven wires in there so swapping it out wouldn't be difficult doing it Wire by wire.this is what im doing also. but i broke one of the tabs off when getting the obd out to put the stock one back in place. now it wont stay in place when i put back. i guess i really need a new obd port installed on the buy pass cable now.
All, just wanted to know if this was related. Truck said it needed any update and to schedule it. I told it to do it and then it bricked with error code 20. I pulled the battery cables and it's now reverting to previous software version.
I'm just wondering if I should have pulled the security bypass thing before it updated.
2018 2500
Still waiting for the finish.
The 2018/classic UAQ and UAS 4c radios take a few key cycles to reconfigure/read the truck BCM configuration and re-enable the SXM and BuCam after a radio reset (Sw update). They will likely be back working in the morning... If the radio does reset/recovers from the error 20 code ... Yours will be the first I've heard of... Although they should be able to revert if the update fails of left alone after 3 failed update attempts supposedly.Radio is original. It did boot up ok after recovery but stuff is missing like satellite and backup button doesn't work. I called the dealer, they said new radio as well...
I've got a good dealer, they'll get it taken care of.
The security bypass cable has been out of stock on kaodtech.com for months now. Anyone know when if/when it might become available again? Otherwise, are there any other reasonable alternatives that will work with AlfaOBD that allow changing vehicle configuration (adding sales codes, etc)? I had picked up the ECRI security module bypass back in October because this bypass was not available but, while it allows access to the BCM, it always fails on writing when changing configuration values (anything under "Car Configuration Change").
