Hi all. so i had to remove my buypass cable. i have to let the dealer plug in to the truck. anyway i broke one of the tabs that hold it in. thinking about just gluing it in after the dealer. i only removed it so they could connect to the pcm. i dont care if they know it was there. i guess ill just leave it in. in the future and let the stock obd hange loose.

@ripping r I just leave it plugged in the blocks and disconnect it from the OBD connector when I go to the dealer. I plug the OEM one pack in place and tuck the bypass back up under the dash and secure it to the main wiring harness with a Velcro tie.

this is what im doing also. but i broke one of the tabs off when getting the obd out to put the stock one back in place. now it wont stay in place when i put back. i guess i really need a new obd port installed on the buy pass cable now.

Yes, I would go for the new OBD port. There's only seven wires in there so swapping it out wouldn't be difficult doing it Wire by wire.

I assume he's still making the security module bypass harness since the website up?

He is, just very busy and keeping his focus on the OBD Bypass harnesses coming in through the site he setup so he can manage it better with his limited time.

Will I need to buy add- on in the alfaobd app for turning on aftermarket tow mirror signals and puddle lights, etc?
Literally the only reason to purchase a security bypass...
Thanks!

All, just wanted to know if this was related. Truck said it needed any update and to schedule it. I told it to do it and then it bricked with error code 20. I pulled the battery cables and it's now reverting to previous software version.
I'm just wondering if I should have pulled the security bypass thing before it updated.

I would only install bypass to complete the changes you cannot make without it and remove so no one can hack your system
You should not need the cable to do regular updates

Still waiting for the finish.

This Error 20 is completely unrelated to the OBD Bypass and is happening with a lot of the OTA Radio updates lately that FCA/Stellantis is forcing on to people (I have seen 10 or more posted in the last 2 weeks) ....

The radio is likely DOA and will need to be replaced under warranty, Contact member "RAMCARES" by private message and/or uConnect since they pushed the bad update down. Just for info sake... Is your radio a factory installed 2018 UAQ/UAS 4c radio or a 2013-17 RA3/RA4 that you transplanted?

Radio is original. It did boot up ok after recovery but stuff is missing like satellite and backup button doesn't work. I called the dealer, they said new radio as well...
I've got a good dealer, they'll get it taken care of.

The 2018/classic UAQ and UAS 4c radios take a few key cycles to reconfigure/read the truck BCM configuration and re-enable the SXM and BuCam after a radio reset (Sw update). They will likely be back working in the morning... If the radio does reset/recovers from the error 20 code ... Yours will be the first I've heard of... Although they should be able to revert if the update fails of left alone after 3 failed update attempts supposedly.

You can see other members posts about the radio update/error 20 code issue here ...

The security bypass cable has been out of stock on kaodtech.com for months now. Anyone know when if/when it might become available again? Otherwise, are there any other reasonable alternatives that will work with AlfaOBD that allow changing vehicle configuration (adding sales codes, etc)? I had picked up the ECRI security module bypass back in October because this bypass was not available but, while it allows access to the BCM, it always fails on writing when changing configuration values (anything under "Car Configuration Change").

Radio working normally in the morning. I guess it recovered. It did not do the update. Didn't loose my radio presets or anything. Skipped going to the dealer.
If it wants to update again I'll try to say no..

For instance, the design of the Z-Automotive T-Bypass Short (https://www.zautomotive.com/product/obdii-t-harness-short/) appears to be the same. Do we know if the capabilities are the same/similar? Will either harness allow AlfaOBD to perform "Car Configuration Change" functionality that is failing with the security module plug-in alternatives? I'd much prefer to give DeereGuy my business but I also want to finish my project soon. :)
*EDIT- I did finally find some information on Z-Automotive T-bypass and it looks as though there are potential issues with it that make DeereGuys superior in more that just apparent build quality. *

Not sure when you've been checking, but you must be barely missing them each time they're in stock. (Several went out last week).
Check the site later tonight/tomorrow. Should be more up by then.

Please keep in mind, Deereguy and I work regular jobs as well and usually get to everyone in a fairly timely manner... For most people the quality is worth it.
Also see... Deereguy Status Update.

I'll speak up and state for the record that the quality of the products of M2Mods and kaodtech.com (same wonderful gentlemen, different offerings from each) are superior to anything else on the market. Deereguys bypass is the way to go as you don't have to repeatedly R&I the radio to access the SGM.

The quality, functionality and support are more than well worth any wait. IMHO
