I don’t know, my guess would be is to get with one of the forum moderators and have this thread moved over to the lounge under members area since we don’t really have a dodge ram general section that applies to all generations rather than making a duplicate thread in the 5th section because all that’s gonna do is generate biased opinions for the guys that drive and prefer the newer trucks just like here in the fourth GEN section where probably not a whole lot of people who like the first GEN‘s, second gens, third GEN‘s and the fifth GEN‘s generally don’t hang out.

I figured that if it was posted in the 5th Gen. That maybe the results will be skewed towards 5th Gen. Just thinking out loud.

No doubt the 4th gen looks better but once you you've taken a ride or driven a 5th gen truck between the interior and the updated ride quality its enough to make a lot of guys consider switching. I also voted the 4th gen better looking. Main reason I probably won't buy one is cost and no more lifetime warranty. I paid $38K for my Laramie 4 years ago and it would be tough to give up that warranty for sure.

My 2018 Limited 1500 that I bought the day after Christmas in the last part of 2017 was quite a bit more than that and since the cost of my lifetime warranty was pretty hefty as well, I pretty much feel the same way.

5th gen has definitely grow on me especially with some wheels and tires but the 4th gen flows better imo.
The problem for me on the 5th gen is the little fender piece that wraps around the front under the headlight, looks like a stingray fin lol better when its all color matched vs a chrome grill though.

4th gen. If aliens beamed up my truck tomorrow and I had to replace it, the Rebel is the only 5th gen I like the aesthetics of enough to consider. I'll wait and see what the 6th gen looks like. You know how Jeep sticks with the seven slots grill as part of the Jeep look? Maybe Ram will go back to the crosshair the next time "retro" is cool again.

I see quite a few 5th gen when I am out and about, so there must be something there, or else people would buy classics.

Then again, I see alot of classics out there, too.

I'm definately not knocking 5th gens, they have been growing on me a bit, but still favor the 4th gen.

Keep 'em coming, folks.

I prefer the looks of the 5th Gen. While I like the 4th gen, when I bought it, I did not buy it for the looks. Of the big 3, it was lowest in aesthetics for me in 2017 when I bought it. But, what it lacked in looks (again, it's not bad looking, just not my favorite), it more than made up for in ride quality, interior quality, and options for the dollar. GM or Ford could not come close in ride quality and options/dollar. I have not ridden in or driven a 5th gen, so my only comparison is looks alone, and 5th gen takes it for me in that department.

I don't buy a truck based on looks, so that's not a big deal one way or the other personally. But I do think the 5th gen copied the Tundra front end way to closely. Hard to tell them apart coming at you unless you look close. For that reason alone, I like the 4th gen better. But it would not keep me from buying one if it were otherwise at the top of my list.

I prefere the 4th gen over the 5th gen but I like both trucks. I really like the new 2500 body style as it is kind of a combination of both. That's most likely going to be my next truck.

WAIT for it.................have U owned both ??? Rest my case. Our 19 is LIGHT years ahead of our 13. We loved the 13, cam change and others issues was $12K cause we bought used, not from lack of maintence. Dealer gave us $$$$ and dump it.

BTW, could never drive the truck on low beam at night, worse lights ever on a truck......

My feelings too. Rebel and TRX. The front ends of the rest of the models are very bland and generic. Get rid of the brow, the hood badges, and drop the headlights lower. Make the crosshair optional on Sport Models.
If you wanted to swap out the grill or shell on the 4th gen it was an easy job . Only needed a new grill insert and shell. The 5th gen has so many parts to change and it is probably at 3 times more costly to change.
Hopefully the '22's will get a mid cycle refresh and fix the front end. The Cherokee was hideous before they cleaned up the front a couple years ago. Maybe the Ram will get fixed too.

The 5th is a nice looking, but undistinctive truck. Looks exactly like a Ford/Chevy/Toyota. The 4th gen is very distinctive. Most of that, of course, is the grille. The forward leaning cross-hair grille is the winner. It just looks lean and aggressive. You know what it is a mile away. Hands down winner is 4th gen.

Well I’m a new first time truck owner. I bought a 2019 Warlock. White with Black badges, wheels and striped down the hood. Cool looking truck and a great ride. I have no idea what generation it belongs to. I’m guessing 5th??? Help me understand. Thanks

We own a couple 5th gens and while they drives smooth as silk, I'd take my 2018 Ram 1500 Longhorn Southfork Edition back in a heartbeat. I will forever love the styling of the late 4th gens.

I like the 5th gen HDs, but if you look at it from the right angle (from behind looking forward) it looks like it has a swollen snout, like a dog when it eats a bee and gets stung. But the 4th gens? You can't tell me this ain't sexy. But maybe I'm just a bit biased because she's mine.

I far prefer the exterior of the 4th gen, but the interior of the 5th is heads above. Both are still nice looking trucks.

It’s funny you say that and yes I know, that’s your own personal opinion and I’m not saying I have a problem with that but I’m just saying that yeah, even though the interior of the new fifth GEN is nice, I don’t see really how it’s any better than like the interior of my fourth Gen 2018 Limited. I really like that big ole 12 inch screen but the way they have it all situated just doesn’t look right but that’s just me.
