4th Gen all the way. I don't know why they had to change the design. I don't know of any complaints about the classic look. I guess the designers get paid to change things. I agree that the 4th gen has a more distinct look and the 5th gen looks more like the others. My opinion of course. Everyone's entitled to my opinion.

WAIT for it.................have U owned both ???Rest my case.
And that matters why? I haven’t driven any of the new 5th Gens but that doesn’t need to happen to fully base my decision. One of the main things I don’t like about them is if you want the higher-end model, you pretty much have to settle for all that lane departure/front collision warning/and blind spot warning radar ********. Glad my 18 limited hasn’t that crap. You actually have to DRIVE my truck and pay the **** attention to what you’re doing because it ain’t gonna beep at you if you get outta lane, and it ain’t gonna hit the brakes if you are occupied with whatever distraction you’re occupied with other than driving.

Our 19 is LIGHT years ahead of our 13.
Can’t imagine why....lol. They try to make **** better as the years go by so there’s no mystery there. Lol.
We loved the 13, cam change and others issues was $12K cause we bought used, not from lack of maintence. Dealer gave us $$$$ and dump it.
You bought it used- but you say it wasn’t from lack of maintenance. Look, I know the 5.7 Hemi’s have a well known and well documented issue with the MDS Lifters and the cam; there’s no argument but how you do your maintenance and what products you use when you do your oil changes greatly affects your chances of falling victim to that. Excessive idling, using cheap oil and filter and keeping that oil in there too long is one of the major things that contributes to that.

BTW, could never drive the truck on low beam at night, worse lights ever on a truck......

I don’t know if your new one has those cool factory LED headlights or not but for one, yeah- those are a vast improvement but being that we have the aftermarket, there’s no excuse for settling with **** bulbs in the older trucks. Matter of fact, I’ve heard countless whining about the 4th Gen premium projector headlights but you know, if you yank those cheesy ****** stock bulbs out and put some good ones in there, they’re actually pretty badass. I really didn’t need to spend about 450 bucks on HID lowbeams, LED highbeams and fog lights because just the simple $170 I spent several months prior on stuffing Sylvania ZxE’s in my brights, lows and fogs was far better than stock but with the HID’s and LEDs, I really cannot imagine any....... aftermarket or better factory headlights in anything being truly better cost justifing and effective than just a simple bulb upgrade to HID and LED but yes, I know, there’s people who will argue that and that’s fine. All I’m saying is that I truly have no rhyme or reason to ever drop 12, $1300 on any new set of aftermarket headlights.

Well I’m a new first time truck owner. I bought a 2019 Warlock. White with Black badges, wheels and striped down the hood. Cool looking truck and a great ride. I have no idea what generation it belongs to. I’m guessing 5th??? Help me understand. Thanks

It’s still a 4th Gen that’s made after the 4th Gens were officially discontinued for the new bodystyle.

Both gens have beautiful trucks and some that, well not so much. After driving a 5th gen for 2 years I think the 4th gen looks very dated. New things become old. I won't go back to a new old truck!

It should be considered outdated because virtually for 10 years, nothing really changed. At least the 3rd Gen changed what, twice?

But hey, it’s proof that the 4th Gen was very popular and remained unchanged for ten years because it was that popular and if I’m not mistaken, they’re already up to the third year of still producing brand new 4th Gens.

I have a Gen 3 and drool over both Gen4 and 5. I can’t separate body style from function tbh. I had initially passed on the 06 because I thought the headlights looked goofy as hell. But when I realized the wholesaler didn’t know what he had and then drove it, I was in love. I got a $19k truck for $16.5. It’s got 329k on original motor and tranny; replaced some water pumps, an alternator or two and rebuilt the front end myself. Am putting a rebuild list together now rather than buy a newer model. Can’t bring myself to get rid of her!

I bought a 2020 5th Gen and voted that way. I had been seriously looking at the Raptor. If I was buying on looks and performance, I would have bought the Raptor.

My goal was over the road comfort, economy, and towing. I love the 5th Gen Eco for exactly that.

I voted for the 5th generation, although I own and really like my 4th generation (2017) Ram. The newest iteration of the Ram looks really good and seems potentially more functional in many ways. Granted, I plan to keep what I have for a long time as it just works well for me, especially when towing my camper. When I do upgrade, it may, depending upon some other factors, be to a 3500...probably also a Laramie, and maybe with the 6.7L High Output engine. My 2017 has been pretty good... very few problems and very few issues. I have enough invested in new batteries and tires that it may push back a new truck another year or so.

That’s funny, I felt the same way about the first run Gen 3 trucks. I didn’t like the front ends because they made them look too much like the old 2nd gens which, I love the old second GEN trucks but, they could’ve at least done a little bit more to make the early third GEN‘s look a little bit more different from the second GENs.

But yeah, I will admit that that ugly orange stripe on the bottom of the 06 and 07 headlights was kind of hard on the eyes which is why I’m glad on the 2008s, they got rid of that.

WTH did I just read ???

start with EASY one: ZERO bulbs out there for these ****y 2013 projector head lights to fix the issue.

Now to upkeep

I upkeep my cars way better the any dealer ever, how U say !! been fixing their BS work for 40 + years. 2013 Ram LL came from Canada with 48k miles in 2015. Live in cold states and truck idled all the time BEFORE we know there was a cam issue. Still loved the truck cept for the **** poor quality issues..............

I seriously don’t know. After reading some of your posts from other discussions, my guess is that there could be a dozen ways you coulda possibly interpreted and twisted what I said so your guess is as good as mine.

First off, I think you mean quad.... headlights. I don’t think the badass projector headlights were available until 2016 or 2017 but either way, any aftermarket bulb is an upgrade to those headlights. There’s hundreds of Ram owners with those lights who upgrade and they’re fine then, with the exception of blinding other traffic because they scatter the light all over the place but definitely help the driver see better, that’s for sure. But you know, even though it sounds obvious that you never tried nothing, why not upgrade the headlights? There ain’t nothin wrong with fixing what the engineers did. If they were that bad and you chose to do nothing at all to fix it except ***** then you really shouldn’t be ********...lol.

Ok, how does that first part coincide with the last part?? I wasn’t insinuating you weren’t taking care of it, I was just pointing out that it was used when you bought it so, how was it treated before you got it?

Good deal that you treated it well after you got it but if it just had whatever the dealer put in it with cheap Mopar filter and ran on average of 7, 8 thousand miles then it don’t make a **** how well you treated it when you got it.

Lol, next what?

Before I bought my 2019 BH classic I looked at the new models and was very impressed. I was close on a deal for one but the local dealership wanted to stiff my on my trade in (6 or 7 k under kbb). Then as I kept looking I found the new 2019 classic for a good amount cheaper and the dealership a little further away was willing to give me KBB for my trade in so I took that deal. But i really liked that new model. Interior especially was better. But I liked both the inside and out on that one. Just not enough to pay that much more and get stiffed on my trade in.

They both look great. What I don't like is that FCA now charges what used to be standard item's. wheel cover, lights in the bed, under the rear seat storage, are just a few to name. Ay $195. a pop it can add up to a grand pretty quickly. I like that the 115 plug now has more amps and you can use more electrical things. I like the BigHorm seat material better in the older RAM and the leather seats were nicer.

The 3.6 engine needs more torque! 269 lbs at the flywheel is pathetic. I had two and the are seriously lacking. The 3.6 is a very light duty truck. The e torque id a joke.

I’m tempted to get a 2021 Warlock with all the options I wish mine had. Please post pics when you get it.
