pretty sure my half ton ram has that much payload.
My buddy's F150 has more payload and gets a lot better mpg too and with the 3.5EB will leave me for dead on the road as well. Kind of embarrassing really but it is what it is.

I agree the PW grill is the worst of all the grills (and the rebel) even with the chrome bumper it looks 100X better than the PW front end. Only reason I went with the power wagon was when we were test driving them I asked my wife which one and she liked the PW interior much better and the rest is history lol.
A 100x better is a lot...lol. I love the grill on the PW and get compliments on the front all the time. Tradesman grill to me is booooring...To each his own

ok only 50-75X better lol. it is true everyone has different tastes and it would be pretty boring if we all liked the same things.

hard to compare a f150 to a power wagon.. would be easier to compare a ram 1500 to a Ford 150..

I think what @Grand Mesa means is that 3/4 ton is 1500 pounds. The Base Tradesman with Powerwagon package for 2019+ can have 1620lbs...so more than 3/4 ton capable lol.

The CAT scales do have a +/- 20 pound leeway per pad. So you could be 40 pounds off...which gets the number close.

But I for sure would guess with adding stuff it should weigh more...not less.

GVWR 8565 minus 1565 payload means the base weight should be 7000lbs. So you are 50 pounds off...did you change wheels also? Could be your tire and wheel package saved you some weight, @retired

For reference, my Tradesman Crew 8' bed with only protection group and tow mirrors as the only option weighs 7002lbs.

And the chart lists a Tradesman with Powerwagon Package having a max payload of 1620. Of course you can option the tradesman up to weigh more than a base Powerwagon trim.

But 1620 would be the most and I have seen door stickers as low as 1065.

The 2 heaviest options would be RamBox and sunroof.

Thanks. The above were my thoughts too.

If you want a Power Wagon to be a 3/4 ton truck, then it's got to have at least a 1,500 pound load capacity. I wasn't comparing it to anything including a Cummins 2500 or a Ram 1500. The more options, the more weight and less payload. Once it gets below 1,500 pounds, it's no longer technically capable of hauling a 3/4 ton load.

Here's my capacity on a 2016 Tradesman. It's 1,446 pound payload is below 3/4 ton. It doesn't have any options that I can think of other than the Power Wagon package. Bare bones and technically it can't haul 3/4 of a ton. Maybe the carpets or the spare tire took away the 3/4 ton capacity.

Uh huh.... and who's he gonna call when winching is needed??
people put winches on F150's :) we have offroaded together many years in jeeps and neither of us are strangers to helping the other out with winches.

yes that makes it even more embarrassing. I should not have to trade down to a 1500 to be equal in carrying and tow capacity to a 150 :)

I believe 2016's weigh more than 2019 and 2020 in part to the newer ones having aluminum hoods and somethings I can think of at the moment. maybe lighter frames but not sure on that.

Problem with Fords are they need a new engine every 50,000 miles. At least that has been my experience with 3 of the 5 I owned. Well 1 made it to 70,000 miles (1996 Windstar mini-van). Oh, and don't forget the 4x4 not working (1994 F250), the truck not starting if it sat more than 2 days (1994 F250), and a quart of oil every 1000 miles (1991 F150 5.0 and 1994 F250 460). Will never buy another. All these were either bought new or with under 20,000 miles on them. Add up all of my issues on every other vehicle I have owned in 36 years of driving and the repairs haven't been close to what the Fords needed. And when I called Ford their attitude with my was horrible so I swore them off. They told me, and I quote, 'That is your problem now'.

Ok...off-topic...sorry...lol

The 2019+ shed some weight. Winch rope is now synthetic. The body panels and frame components led to some. I believe it was somewhere to the tune of 200lbs for all trims.

The Powerwagon also got a boost in GVWR from 8510 to 8565 for 55 more lbs capacity.

Mine has the winch cable versus the synthetic line.

Power Wagon : Towing/Hauling :: Standard 2500 : Rock Crawling/Offroading

Both can do it, but each can do the other better...

EDIT: I think got that analogy right... If not, fuggit I'm not an English major lol

I agree I did not like the Excursions because of the way it handled, but I have a lot of new Ford trucks since my first 1978 in 1977 and never had an issue with any of them. I have been very lucky with all the different vehicles over the years and only vehicle I have ever gotten rid of because of a problem was a 2016 Subaru outback. Most of the vehicles I have owned have never been back to a dealer for anything other than a few recalls here and there. I have had my 2020 pw back a few times simply trying to get the remote start/door lock issue fixed but so far a no go on that.

oh I did have issues with my 1998 Durango. it had that stupid front end that fell apart but the motor was fine other than it was the thirsty 318. I have had a pretty good track record all and all.
