@Jimmy07 @Roman217 @Ramit2016 Any Chance you guys can collaborate on a Clean Writeup on this including Parts, Brackets cables etc.? car-parts.com has several listed and I'm thinking of going for it and I want to make sure I get what I'm paying for.
Be careful, when they say "complete" on car-parts they may not include the radio itself.

Indeed - early in my IT career back in the 80's I installed Hollander Interchange Systems at Auto recyclers around the country loved those ****'s and the amber cathode glow (Never like the Green)

So I have my Head unit and Display Unit on the way - I found a great place in MA Called New England Auto & Truck Recyclers, talk to John Cahill they have 4-6 units for around $1500 (sssshhh don't tell the Ebay bots) along with all the buttons and bezel, from the research I did your looking at a min. of $1000 per unit (Display + Head) not to mention the various misc. pieces you need - I do need a Cable (or 3) between the Head unit and Display but I know someone makes them or I can or buy one Now I just need a 3D Printed adapter (hint, hint) or mod My current bezel some how

Oh I understand I need to swap out my BCM since I have a 2015, which I'm not opposed to doing any suggestions? New verses Used (I also understand there's a reprogram issue used?) is there a write up any where and would 2017 be My best year to switch to so I don't have and security harness to deal with, this isn't a fast mod for me so I want to take my time and do it right

Ouch, that’s a little steep. You can get the screen brand new for ~$480, and the radio module brand new for ~$685. Although you’ll probably have to wait about a month for the radio module.

Now you've done it. A certain tainment company will go buy them all so they can resell them for $4000+. :D The worst part is their customers will come here for support.

Edited to note price for the kit is actually $4,000. Thanks Jimmy07.

Wow! that is a little Disingenuous, I always start with Benny ( @AllMoparParts.com ) as a reference point and disregard the Ebay and Amazon results sticking purely to the Mopar Parts Warehouses if you have a special deal with one good for you but that doesn't serve the rest of us

68396140AD - Center Stack Display (No Buttons - Knobs) $729 - $755 Benny - 2019 Ram Display Center Stack 68396140AD | Mopar Parts (allmoparparts.com) Others - 68396140AD - Genuine Mopar DISPLAY (moparpartsgiant.com)

68472372AE - Multi Media Radio (Head Unit) $892 - $940 Benny - Radio Receiver 68472372AE | Mopar Parts (allmoparparts.com) Others - 68472372AE - Mopar Radio. Multi media. [instrument panel parts module], [uconnect 12.0 with | Mopar Parts Webstore, Orlando FL

So Ya considering Chip shortages Cost of ready new parts I'd say it's a great deal and I think given all that I'm getting it's not an "ouch" but a fist bump

No, those are the same part numbers that everyone else usually uses over on the 5th gen 1500s (8.4 is UAV). There are multiple part numbers for the 12” screens and modules. Those just happen to be cheaper than the other part numbers.

Well that'll learn ya, never try to call out Jimmy07 on a mod he is pioneering. At least if you do, be polite. ;)

So looking at the prices Jimmy provided for brand new parts, seems like people are being taken for a ride buying from the retail place I am not naming. Even with bezel, cables, bluetooth antenna, LTE antenna, and lower switch panel, it's possible to be under $2200 ish for brand new parts. Solid 80%+ mark up.

Add a bluetooth dongle and alfaOBD, you're still way under.

Sorry - I had to find my part own numbers I've check since page 6 of this post but only the UAV's parts were listed I asked a few post back the the "Big 3" put together a write up (and I'm not the only one that's asked) I wasn't being impolite I was defending my research and findings and trying to share a deal that got slapped *sigh* It's just a mod, I'll push forward, and document the process, if it helps some one, great!

I'll have a BCM heading your way hopefully tomorrow. That was the biggest pain for me since the 2015 BCM accepted the DCSD parameter and would read it back to AlfaOBD in the diagnostic session but it wouldn't actually broadcast that message as enabled on the CAN bus to the rest of the modules.

That took some hair pulling to figure out why the screen would go blank as soon as the radio learned the settings from the BCM.

I did miss a few alerts on this thread and just happened to check in. I was just trying to get you more info so you can decide if it’s worth it to go the other route with brand new. It’s frustrating because even the junkyards seem to be charging close to brand new or more for some parts nowadays. I’ve seen them asking twice as much for BCMs as brand new.

Can this be done it a 2012? I really want a touch screen. I got spoiled over my past few Dodges and they had the Uconnect. I am a stock turn dial radio...
