Hi all, this us really throwing me for a loop. I have searched high and low and cannot find any information regarding bank 1 sensor 1 EGT, a P0546 code. Looking online all I can really find is people talking about them in regards to delete kits. This is a stock truck(600 miles away from me) I'm traveling there in a couple weeks and need to work on it. Can anyone tell me where this sensor is? What sensor need to order to replace it? Even Haynes manual makes NO mention of any EGT sensor, I'm just at a loss.

Pretty sure the sensor is right before the cat. Seems that it is there to protect the cat from excess heat.

Thank you for reply. Thats what I would imagine with a typical vehicle, but in looking it seems this vehicle has between 4 and 7 EGT sensors along the entire exhaust, but some of that may have been in regards to delete kits. There are 2 different EGT sensors that Autozone lists that fit this vehicle, so there are atleast 2. I dont mind buying multiple sensors, would just be nice to have solid clarification. I've never in my life had such a hard time getting what would seem to be, simple information.

The EGT sensors should be numbered in order starting from the engine, and if I'm not mistaken Cummins doesn't have a pre-turbo EGT sensor. I would take a guess the problem child sensor throwing the code is in the downpipe.

Well I actually found this.... does this seem accurate to anyone? Is the DOC the catalytic converter for diesel motors?

I've actually watched that one lol. Problem is they don't say what code it threw or what egt sensor location it is they are replacing, like in this pic apparently there is a pre turbo egt stock. I may just end up buying multiple sensors and metering out the faulty sensor. Thanks for all the help btw

Essentially yes. Diesel Oxidation Catalyst is just in front of(or in with) the Diesel Particulate Filter in the exhaust system, then goes into the Selective Catalyst Reduction if so equiped (vehicles that use DEF).

This is driving me crazy. I'm here to work on it, the sensor I suspected is sensor #2... not #1. To try to find this I started pulling sensors 1 by 1 and checking codes. #4 at the end, #3 in picture, #2 in picture(the one I thought it was) and #1....... no where to be found. I've looked everywhere on the exhaust from #2 into the motor. Found speed sensor on turbo, found EGR temp, found exhaust pressure. Can't find #1. Any ideas? Surely it's not built into the turbo actuator.

Since #2 is post turbo but before all other exhaust components, it leads me to believe #1 is pre turbo somewhere.... but geeze I've searched and searched
