5th Gen 8.4 UAV Radio in a 4th Gen (And Possible Surround View)

So I have my Head unit and Display Unit on the way - I found a great place in MA Called New England Auto & Truck Recyclers, talk to John Cahill they have 4-6 units for around $1500 (sssshhh don't tell the Ebay bots) along with all the buttons and bezel, from the research I did your looking at a min. of $1000 per unit (Display + Head) not to mention the various misc. pieces you need - I do need a Cable (or 3) between the Head unit and Display but I know someone makes them or I can or buy one Now I just need a 3D Printed adapter (hint, hint) or mod My current bezel some how

Oh I understand I need to swap out my BCM since I have a 2015, which I'm not opposed to doing any suggestions? New verses Used (I also understand there's a reprogram issue used?) is there a write up any where and would 2017 be My best year to switch to so I don't have and security harness to deal with, this isn't a fast mod for me so I want to take my time and do it right

Did you end up going 8.4 or 12.1? Not gonna lie, if that price was for the 8.4 you way overpaid, but if for the 12" unit that's not horrible. Gonna make some guys jealous on here but I scored this setup for $385 shipped about a month ago [emoji23]

Also I've noticed my cargo cam no longer works so assuming it's on a different input now or I need something else from a 5th gen to recognize it.

Roman and I did a lot of can bus logging and with his programming skills he was able to make me a program file to get the buttons mapped and working correctly via the interface I had already with the BSM that he also setup/developed .
Roman has been a huge help and I can’t thank him enough for all his time he has put into this and his help .
The cargo cam Input worked for me with a m2mods rca pigtail .
Is yours a factory installed cargo cam ?

I see you kept your lower switch panel . That’s pretty clever so you can keep the exhaust brake switch etc .Do all those buttons work ?

Thanks! I'll try and get up with Roman this week on that. I installed the cargo cam with Jimmy07's help on the parts for the harness. It works fine with the UAV and any other radio except for this one. I don't even get the soft key for it so not sure whats up.
Haha I figured someone would point out old switch bank. Everything works like it should and I basically hacked up both the 12" bezel and grafted in an old 4th gen bezel lower section. I'll post up some more pics when it's all done and painted. I also molded the sides of the 12" since it doesn't sit flush in the old dash bezel.

Lucky that I ended up with a different BCM than I was expecting from a wrecker. There is currently a stack of BCMs sitting in my office to try different things though one of them belongs to Jimmy.

I may be able to get make some headway on the surround view as I made friends with an FCA engineer. If nothing else, I will be able to get more exact reasons for the errors were seeing with the DJ/DT CVPMs and then I can figure out how to spoof the needed messages.

Waiting on new mirrors .
Hopefully in the next two weeks will Have them .
Front cam installed into existing eBay grill .
Was a bit of work but it works
I was able to get the front cam calibrated as well so that’s a good sign .

The front view shows the parking sensors as well .
Had to add another can module to convert a message .

That is the exact same grill I have .
Mine lit up just like yours did etc .
I will send you the parts that I used to make the front cam fit this weekend .
There are many different parts as different front grills etc .
The parts I will list are for a 2021 rebel .
Had to make a few shims out of abs plastic to make it fit then JB weld .
Also was a fair bit of cutting in back side of the grill to allow access to the camera .
It’s not just mount and screw etc .
Just like this whole mod lol .
As far as the can module goes this is still work in progress and requires more can logging to ge the rest figured out hopefully .
I have had a lot of help from Roman on this so he deserves a lot of credit on Helping me out on the can bus side of messages and spoofing .

So parts I used to add the front camera to my grill are as follow:
68341467AC Plate Emblem
68298470AA Name plate
68365873AB Camera clip
68341484AB Camera clip
68341480AB Bracket camera
68386822AB screws need two of them .

These parts where based of a 2021 rebel that has a black grill .
