"Budget" 6 ton jack stands that aren't junk?

Hey all, need some new jack stands because all I have are 2 tons. Looking for 6 tons because I like the height and rather have too much than too little. Had my eyes on the Big Reds, but apparently nobody has them in stock anymore. I know there's Omegas, Power lifts. And a couple others but it seems like there are great reviews but also a few bad ones here and there. Cant afford to buy $200 jack stands. What do yall like?

Have you looked at Harbor Freight or Amazon?

HF keeps recalling their 6 ton Jack's. Not sure if they even have ones for sale. I have Evercraft ones from NAPA. They're good.

I will never use HF jack stands again. Shop i used to work in thats all they used. Never trusted them, then saw all the recalls. Yeab out of stock on Amazon too.

I bought mine at Pep Boys, though i don't use them
I bought a set of 4 heavy duty plastic ramps
I can drive onto 2 of them & use any of my Floor jacks to lift the other end up high enough to set the truck onto the ramps

I don't see any other recall other than the one from last year 6 Ton item number 61197. I have a 6 Ton set I got from HF years ago, diff item# compared to the recalled ones, a 3 ton set big red and another 3 ton set acdelco.

"All" the recalls are specific to "4" item numbers. Listed in their website

• Jack Stands (#56371, #56373, #61196 and #61197)

First two is a 3 ton jack, 196 is another 3 ton model, 61197 is the only 6 Ton jack affected by the recall.

HF gave me in store credit for the recalled ones. And the new "improved" replacement jackstands never made it to the stores, since they couldn't pass quality control. That said, both sets would probably work ok, but there's always that "what if..." feeling. I don't shy away from HF tools if it's a good deal, bit don't want to compromise my well-being.

Everyone is running out of stock because the cheap imported crap that we have been taught to buy was stuck in the Suez Canal!

I posted the part# that were recalled a couple posts back. And the recall came out last year between May through Aug 2020. I doubt any HF store will be selling the old part# by now. Of course you're more than welcome not to buy what you think won't be good for you.

I use and recommend many HF tools but if your life depends on it....buy elsewhere and spend the extra bucks.

Look into an all in one unit. I use the 3 ton version of this. Hopefully a 3 or 6 ton will meet your needs.
