2012 Ram 2500 Cummins. Is there a time limit to how long this truck will idle and is it changed with the Alpha OBD. My son has left his truck idling and locked while he was in the store to keep dogs cool, he has had it shut down twice, once while he was stand talking to someone close enough for him to hear it shut down.

From Page 10 of the 2012 Diesel Supplement:
Remote Start
Once the vehicle has started, the engine will run for 15 minutes.

I'm trying to get the DRLs to work on my 2009 1500 SLT. I changed from the stock dual headlights to Alpharex first generation lights. I used Alfaobd to set the lights to quad and that worked. And after reading every post in this thread related to the DRLs I first set it to Canadian DRL and to use the highbeams. I then followed another post where it said to enable the DRLs in the main menu and then under reconfigurable options to set it to DRL Optional. Still nothing. And yes, I check with the parking brake off and in drive. The DRLs on the top of the headlights are just wired to the TIPM to come on with the key.

Has anyone gotten a 2009 to have the DRLs working? This is a US truck.

Thanks,

On my 2012, I put it in R, N or D with parking brake off, but the motor must be running (not just ignition on). I used the Canada option. I did not set the DRLs in the main menu.

They don't come on under any conditions.

You need the headlights off when you check as well. If the main lights come on, server you have set to DRL goes off. I had mine in my 11 2500 set to turn signals but ultimately turned them off completely

In the body module there is a Daytime Running Light option i think you need to enable. This option is in the active diagnostic section rather than the car configuration change section.

I put LED headlights in my 08 Ram. I 'thought' they were CANBUS, but maybe not. The driver's side HL will occasionally turn off for a cpl secs, then come back on. It may stay on for a minute, then do it again. There's no pattern to this issue.. I was gonna swap around with the right side, but on my way home today, the right side started doing it, as well..
I can't seem to find any 'LED' or HID option in AlfaOBD for this.. You think it may just need the CANBUS boxes, even though it "appears" the LEDs already have a slimilar looking device? Or is what I currently have, maybe just an LED driver of sorts? These are JDM ASTAR ZES v.8 bulbs. My wife's AMG would blink on/off in a set timed pattern, where my Ram doe not hold same symptom pattern, or anything resembling a pattern..

Just though I'd ask..

I did the same thing with the same problem, people in front of me must have thought I was some form of law enforcement because they kept pulling over to the right to let me pass. I cant remember the name of the part as it was about 5-6 years ago but I had to put this in between the wire and the bulb to fix it. its been fine ever since. ....Just went back to my Amazon account and found it;

Hey Guys.
Has anyone replaced a Tipm and reconfigured with Alfa?
If yes, what steps did you take .
Thanks

If you have the factory wiring, on the 09-12 (Not sure about 3g trucks) all you should have to do is either install the latch with connector provision, and then plug it in.
OR, you can bypass the hood ajar switch by grounding out a pin from one of the TIPM connectors with a 1k ohm resistor.
I can give some more specifics if interested. I have been enabling the remote start functions locally for a year or so as a side hustle.
I'm currently in the process of adding remote start to my 2012 2500 following the given instructions. I was able to find where I need to add the 1k OHM resistor. What has me stumped is trying to find the proper female pin for the TIPM connector.

Edit: I was able to track down on mouser the factory sized pins used for the TIPM connector.
(Automotive Connectors T KAIZ .64F SNPL UNS CBL RANGE .35-.50MM2)
Mouser #:829-13726147-L
Mfr. #:13726147-L

Update: The pins I ordered were too small but luckily I had an old random pigtail lying around and was able to pull the female pins from that one. Worked like a champ. Wired the resistor inline and grounded it. Remote start works flawless.
Thanks for the info you posted!

Hi All, I'm looking at adding Remote Start to a 2011 3500 CC and I'm wondering what parts are required (do I need a new WIN & Keys, Hood Latch?) If a hood latch is required, what pin in the BCM does the hood latch wire go to? Is there some sort of antenna requirement for the 2011 3500? Thank All.

I've seen a lot of great, informative posts in this thread (and a couple others) about this ODB unit (the MX bluetooth model) and software (AlfaOBD) being able to do a ton of things. Sadly, it's mostly about 2013 and newer models. I have a 2010 Laramie. My LED high beams and low beams installed without issue (Canbus friendly - LED low is 2000 lumens per bulb, LED high 4000 lumens per bulb, because I simply like the crisp white light and not blinding those coming at me). I recently installed "canbus" sequential mirror mounted turn signals and puddle lamps. And while it is not hyperflashing, it is not flashing correctly. I'm trying to figure out the best plan of attack on this situation, as I'd like to not modify the harness with resistors (and mostly avoid any fires or melt stuff as I have read those horror stories as well). Boy do I miss the days of pulling a flasher, and installing a new one lol

But wait, there's more. After reading some of what you folks have done, I wanna do some of it too. Cause if you're gonna trick out your ride, there is no better way than to personalize it like you want it. And some of you folks have your rides setup for real nice. So I apologize ahead of time that I may have a billion questions. I'm late to the party, but wanna get caught up in a hurry.

Supposedly you can set the light type for each exterior light to halogen, led or hid. That should end the issue with LEDs in turn signals hyper flashing.

I'm going to be swapping my dual headlights for a set of quads soon, and will be putting LEDs in when I can afford that. I know Alfa can enable the quads without issue. A lot of this stuff is still experimental in the early 4th gens.

Can anyone guide me to this? Just read the whole thread and didnt find anything. Just got fogs installed and programmed thru alfaobd. I just cant find a way to get rid of the hyperflash and the turnsignal out bulbs. The front headlights are the ones with led. Truck is a 2012 ram 1500 and im using alfaobd thru my windows computer. (Looks different than the android version)

I've looked through every page here and have yet to find info on if it's possible to program keys on a 06 ram with keyless entry. I've checked and I don't see the option like on the new rams. However, I do see "Program Ignition Keys SKIM only" and "Program RKE Only Keys" listed. Has anyone attempted this?

Evening! I have a strange issue. I used Alfa to remove my highbeam DRL because I put in Alpharex headlights with the upper and lower LED DRL. Nice lights, I highly recommend HOWEVER... I am having a unique issue where I step on my brake and the left (driver side) DRL goes dim. The minute I am off the brake, the DRL goes bright again. This is especially confusing because the LED circuit is direct wired to the battery with an ignition based trigger. The LED lights are supposed to go to a dimmer Stage LED when the headlight is on but other than that they should stay full brightness. any ideas how the brake switch would be affecting the front end?

I am attempting to add TPMS to my 2012 3500 SRW truck. It was not available until 2013, however, everything is there you just need the parts. So I picked up the TPMS module, put sensors in the tires (4) 433 MHZ, and went into alfaobd. Went to body computer vehicleconfig1 TPM turned to SET, then vehconfig2 TPM Premium turned it to SET. Reset WIN. Bingo! the TPMS screen now shows up, so I drive down the road for about 20miles at 70mph and the pressures stay at 0psi! I pull over and look at the status and it says base TPM present, premium not present. Also not showing any sensors. So I go into the pressure threshold and set it to 65psi on all corners, reset the WIN for kicks, wait about 30mins. Turn the truck on and now all the 0psi have gone away and show -- in place. I get my sensor tool out and "activate" them and take off. Drive back home and still nothing. I have also went as far as to program each sensor Id and still nothing. But when I look in alfa at the status it shows the TPM as 315MHz and pressure from 0-50.8psi and location japan, and TPM Module has not localized.

So I literally have everything that a 2500 truck has installed aside from the light and heavy load button. What am I missing to get the system to work? Is there a different WIN module for a truck with TPM vs not? How do I get the TPM module to localize? Dealer only?

I just join this Forum from a tread in a Charger Forum . I am very interested to use the AlphaOBD program , I just ordered the OBDlink EX. From what I read it looks it would be better to get the MX , anyway.
