2021 Ram Build

Brand new to this forum, so if I am not doing this correctly, please advise me. I ordered a 2021 Ram 3500 Srw Laramie from a dealer in Lexington ky on April 19th. It is currently in D status as of this past Saturday. Has anyone had any luck with the builds coming in on time within the 6-8 week range the dealers give you?

I ordered Feb 18/21 . Still in D after 10 weeks. No scheduled build date. So.... there's that. Might be because I ordered regular cab shortbox 4x4, not alot of people ordering these. Have seen some guys on here getting their order within the 8 to ten week timeline. Good luck. Oh, and congrats on the new build.

I was also told 6-8 weeks when I ordered a 2021 2500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4x4 17 Feb...it will be 11 weeks as of May 5th...

Window sticker says its build was completed 31 Mar.
22 Apr Dealer says (after I contacted him) it's stuck in Mexico...but it should be delivered by 6 May, yet (after inquiring to Customer Care) RAM says it's in route...and they are looking into it. They say they will provide an update by 10 May.
As you can see, they do not have an accurate means of tracking...or much control, once it goes into the contracted shipping pipeline. Thankfully I have not sold my old pickup. Who's to know when yours will arrive. Good luck on the 6-8 weeks!

Ordered Dec 28 2020 still no truck good luck. You will get updates from Ram but they are nothing more than computer generated generic BS. Jeff will be the one doing your prioritized updates I doubt that Jeff exists.

Lol yea man, I ordered in October, a 4500 and a power wagon 75th. I received the 4500 3 weeks ago, the PW was ordered 2 weeks later and is on a Train now.

just to give you an idea of how long it was for me.

Ordered the same truck as you JMay end of Dec '20. Took one day shy of 16 weeks to hit dealers lot.

Crap, so it sounds like the 6-8 week turnaround that my salesman told me, isn’t gonna play out. He felt pretty confident it would be here in 6 weeks. [emoji2357] I guess I’ll just have to hurry up and wait. Thanks everyone for their reply’s is really appreciate it.

I just received a text from my salesman saying that my 2021 ram 3500 Laramie was now in D1 status. Anyone know how long it will sit in this status before it actually get the physical build process going?

D1 means that all the parts to build it are in Inventory
It also means that a date & time has been set to begin building your Ram.

Once that date arrives, it will take about 16 hours to build it

Then it is scheduled to go to the Body Vendor for a few days for things like bed liner, hitch receiver, side steps, etc.

Then it will go back to the assembly line property to get signed off & scheduling for shipment

Your Ram is going to be built down in Saltillo Mexico

Normally from the time that you placed the order, until you take delivery, when it is a Mexico build, is about 12 weeks, but if you live in some place like Nova Scotia or Vancouver, it will take longer than that

The shortest destination would be Dallas/ Ft. Worth

Yeah, looks like my dealers thoughts of a 6-8 week turnaround is gonna fall well short. From what I am seeing on these forums, I need to plan on the 11-12 week mark. I didn’t opt to get any side steps or Bed liner to maybe speed up the process. Hoping it would not cause any delays. My dealership that I ordered from is in Lexington Kentucky, so I am assuming it will take that much longer to get here from Mexico. Thanks GTyankee for the info.

So you didn’t get any updates once it was in D1? Like any if the paint codes or frame code etc?

No, it was in D status Tuesday and then dealer called yesterday to tell me it’s shipped. They think the updates don’t happen like they should, but I don’t know. I don’t think they know much. What I’ve been doing is running the build sheet and it kept coming up not found, but all of a sudden on Monday it generated for me. Then I started ruining the window sticker and it was not coming up until yesterday morning. I think the build sheet gets generated after it’s built, and the window sticker gets generated after it’s sent to the shipping yards. At least, that’s what I’ve gathered from other threads. And it might be correct because the dealer called yesterday to tell me it’s on it’s way.

Ok Gotcha... I hate there is no way of tracking these builds any better. When my mother ordered her bmw in 2015, they even emailed her picture of the cargo ship that it was on and updates twice a week. I sure wish ram would do the same. Also, you mentioned running the build sheet but it was coming up not found... what exactly was you running? What does running the build sheet mean exactly if you wouldn’t care to tell me.

Ok. Thanks. I just checked my VIN there and it’s saying no records found. I’ll check back periodically. Thanks again for showing me that.
