You can also check out sandbtanks.com I got the 52 gallon replacement tank installed on my truck. Way better than Titan. S and B comes with a built in sump for aftermarket lift pump install, if you choose to do so, already built in to the molding of the tank so you dont have to drill a hole in it. Super easy to install tank itself even easier to install lift pump afterwards. Would 100 percent recommend them over any other aftermarket tanks. They also have in bed options too if you dont want to replace the actual tank.

I put a 60 gallon auxiliary fuel tank in my 2500 but I didn’t want to do the gravity flow and I wanted the fuel filtered just in case of any condensation. I went with a transfer pump with a filter and I use it to fuel my tractor also. There’s a company that makes and sells a tank with an internal transfer pump and it only transfers fuel when the main tank gets down to a quarter and shuts off when full. Has a gauge and control panel for the pump. I’ll see if I can find it again.

I've had a RDS 60 gallon aux tank in the bed of my 2500 for over 5 years with ZERO issues, used their gravity feed kit to connect it.
Has paid for itself in fuel cost savings many times over.

That’s the one I have. Saved us a lot of money this past summer on a 4500 mile trip pulling a 7k TT. Was able to avoid the high dollar fuel prices in the tourist towns. It’s nice to be able to pick where and when you want to buy fuel.

I also use a RDS tank shown below. This model fits perfectly and clears my Andersen hitch frame. I use the gravity feed kit also, but it was not easy to install. You must pull the fender well near the tank to get at the tank hose to remove it.

I also put an inline filter and block valve in the hose going to the main tank. I usually keep the valve open while driving. I've left it open overnight before without any issues. It does not drain very fast, but it will keep the tank level full while pulling your trailer.

Not to start an argument, and I know a lot of people do it and some tank manufacturers allow for it, but gravity feeding from an aux tank is illegal... From one tank manufacturer's website:

Gravity Feeding is Illegal
Here are some laws (regulations) which pertain to gravity feed fuel tanks, and why they are illegal.

  1. 49 CFR CH.III (393.65) 6d; Gravity or siphon feeding is prohibited.
  2. 49 CFR CH.III (393.67) 7.4.5.; Fuel withdrawal fittings. The fittings through which fuel is withdrawn from a tank must be located above the normal level of fuel in the tank when the tank is full.
  3. In other words, the fuel must come from the top of the tank and not from a fitting on the bottom. For safety reasons, all aluminum tanks manufactured by ATTA will have no fittings on the bottom. When in doubt, look at your factory tank.

Along with direct feed being unlawful, it is ill advised. Most fuel systems are now closed, and a gravity feed may cause issues and throw codes along with other issues. A transfer system as foolproof and far safer. Another thing to consider is that underground/covered parking structures may prohibit in bed fuel tanks, especially in federal sites, as I fould out when parking at Hoover Dam. Had to park outside parking.

What about tanks in a race car? Most are bottom feeders. Plastic and metal. Semi tanks have a crossover on the bottom so fuel
flows evenly out of both. Only one tank feed the pump.

Before i bought my 2016 Ram Ecodiesel
I ran a 2009 Ram 5.7L, it had a 32 gallon tank
I needed to be able to drive 700 miles a day
so i installed this 30 gallon aux. tank & i carried 3 plastic tanks that held 6 gallons each

When i started out in the morning to do a long distance drive, i had about 80 gallons of gasoline in that Ram.

Can we not start this incorrect narrative again? That section of the CFR only applies to COMMERCIAL trucks. The OP did not say anything about commercial service.
