I have had mine installed for about 6 months, no complaints. I also have a cai & cat-back the combination seems to work well, can definitely feel a difference in performance mode. They are the base level of tunes, custom tunes offer a lot more options, the pulsar is perfect for me & my current mods

I don't think Pulsar offers custom tunes so do soem research on it if you maybe want to go the custom Tune route one Day.

Yep - love it. All tunes are pre-canned, but it's enough for me. I'm not looking for the last percentile torque via a custom tune for a lot more money.

Also allows you to turn off your MDS full time, if you want. I've flipped back to leaving my MDS on due to the infamous lifter roller destruction issue.

Yep, had 2 different ones.
I Used pulsar while warranty concerns weighed on me.
They work great for a piggyback basically canned tune, adjust on the fly was fun a few times.
I stayed in 6 or 8 for more hp(?) and MDS off. I was not interested in economy settings.
Free up the exhaust too while you are modding engine!
I ran pulsar with a pedal commander.
On my 17 for probably 30-35k miles then got a custom tune.
My 19 I lasted about 7-8 months (maybe 15k miles) with the pulsar till getting a custom tune

I heard it was better to have mds off so you don't have lifter & cam failure

I have one and you can definitely feel it. I run 8 mds off all the time unless I'm towing or long freeway trips I'll go eco.

They were supposed to be close to getting custom tuning on it but haven't heard anything new for awhile. They were trying to get it working at least.

Only issue I've had is recently. When you turn on the truck your gears on the dash will shift into 8 (what it should do). Randomly mine started going to 6 lately. Almost like the truck thinks I have a 6 speed rather than an 8. I just manually bump it back up to 8, but its sort of annoying and I'm not 100% sure its shifting correctly. Seems to happen after i hit cruise, the dash flashes some very quick message (can't remember what it says) then jumps down to 6

Let's be clear what we mean by "off" and "on. Originally, it was thought best to de-activate the MDS....a better term than "off" or "on". The thinking was this would eliminate any long term sticking of the internal MDS plunger inside the MDS lifter barrel over time from deposits.

Recently, a poster reported ticking starting and resolved by re-activating his MDS. Don't recall what thread this is in, but the jist of the discussion was postulating lifter rollers are starved for oil at low rpm (idle), and activating MDS helps because it opens a solenoid pilot valve for oil to flow to the lifter bore, draining down to the rollers.

MDS is programmed to activate only above a certain vehicle speed and below a certain vehicle load, but apparently it oils the roller sufficiently during those conditions to lessen hemi ticking.

If this educated conjecture is valid, it is a crazy way to activate a cylinder cut-out system - by starving the lifter bore and roller of oil unless the valves are cut-off. And obviously, idle rpm is the worst of all conditions - MDS is never activated @ idle, and engine rpm is too low to splash sufficient oil up from the crank to the elevated camshaft. Recall the camshaft position in a Hemi engine is higher than a conventional engine in order for the pushrods to reach the outboard Siamese valve rocker.

hey Simpleman I am in the same boat 2020 1500 Classic 5.7 ..got the AFE CAI and Flowmaster muffler..Need some down to earth thoughts on whether it is worth the $700 CDN to get this unit. So many opinions out there at various levels. But for a base daily driver who just wants a little more zip is it worth it..what power increase is there ?..thanks

Got into it cerebaly over a *** and coke and the electronics manipulation just does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling. I'm kinda old school where show me its a mechanical thing that will cause an effect and OK..wires and signals to a computer..aagghhh...that might decide not to work for whatever reason..too cold..to warm..too wet..nah..next up.. ...Shorty Ceramic headers..a substantial $$ out lay...but know they will not fry my PCM on any given Sunday drive!
Anyone have feedback on that item?

I really actually like it. Ive put it on one of mine and run it on performance mode. Never had a pedal commander but I am assuming this does a lot of that.

According to some YouTube videos dyno results the pulsar does actually add 25hp in performance mode with 91 octane.

For me performance mode is a bit much for daily driving. I do enjoy it occasionally though. Wakes the truck right up. I mostly run tow mode or stock.

Economy mode is awsome when the roads are wet. A lot easier to keep the rear end from kicking out when making low speed turns in 2wd.

With how seamless the pulsar is implemented and the evic/steering controls it seems like an oem option. I would buy again.

Has anyone run this on Tow (non-performance) mode and thought it made a difference?

Put mine in tow/haul once while towing heavy and it had a brain fart. Put it back in ECO and it worked fine. Do like the PULSAR though.

I have one and sold my pedal commander. I run 8 performance no mds all the time so no real need for a pedal commander. If someone that isn't used to to it jumps in my truck they chirp the tires everyime the throttle is touchy in 8.

For some reason when we load my boat and I have a buddy back me in I always forget to tell them and/or turn it down and they roast the tires on the ramp. Edge has really good customer support too. I had an issue with a Pulsar and they sent me a new one like a day later. They responded to my emails in like literally 10 minutes.

When I tow I leave tow off on the truck but put the Pulsar in tow mode. Seems to work well

Digging this up…

Anyone had issues installing? Specifically the lift handles not working properly?

One plug came off easy, the other appears to be jammed. I’m afraid to wrench on it too much and foul up my harness… hoping someone else has had the same issue.

Gotta love New England trucks ‍♂️

I had one, it did not seem to add much power but it turned up the throttle sensitivity way to much to make it appear as though it was very powerful.

I also had the truck do some very scary things twice while downshifting going up a hill. It never did it prior to the pulsar, and it never did it once I removed the pulsar. I removed the pulsar after the shifting issues. I also noticed the idle was not very smooth with the pulsar.

It was a waste of money in my opinion. I returned it and got a real tune which made a huge difference in power.

I had a Pulsar for about an hour. I didn't feel any power gain, just alot more throttle response. Didn't compare to the gains on my old SC Flashpaq on my 05. that was just the canned tune too. I returned it. I plan on getting another SC Flashpaq with the unlocked PCM for my 18 after the dealer replaces the second fuel tank in a year next week....
