I just bought a 1500 Limited 3.0 EcoDiesel- many things to love a few to question but one to hate- such an AVERAGE AC- not even close to my F150 that I traded in. My brother has the same truck 2021 brand new as me and my daughter has a "Salute to Service" 2019 model ALL have crappy average AC's. Maybe it's "Watered-down" Freon and I put the best ceramic tint on it. Texas summers win over these AC's. My 12 year old RAV 4 blows colder...

I've seen numerous complaints about the AC's.. They better fix them, or come 2022 the rams will be a Yankee truck.. It's too hot in the south for Average Ac.. I always have 2 blowers blowing right on my face.

Yeah I’ve noticed the same thing. My new 2021 Laramie has just average AC also whereas my old 2017 Laramie would freeze you out. I just assumed that it being a dark color (Patriot Blue) and the old one being white that was the difference.

I'm curious to know what the differences are between the 5th and 4th gen HVAC systems. My 2017 and 19 classics get super cold, but 90F+ summer temps don't happen often in Yankieville

I haven't checked the temperature at the vents yet but my 21 BTS seems to blow cold air just fine. I like the fresh air coming in so I'll have the A/C blasting with all the windows open as long as it's not raining. I'll see what the weather is going to be today and I will dig out the thermometer to check dash temps

some folks have posted problems with the a/c maybe caused by the temperature control unit mixing warm water to maintain temps. seems like a few folks fixed that by putting a shut-off in the line. I live in DFW area and have lucked out I guess as mine has always worked fine. even now while we are having "feels like" temps over 100* every day.

I'd call mine so-so. It eventually gets the cab cold, but it takes a while especially due to the low rpm of the diesel.
Our Honda Odyssey is instant cold. And there's a lot of volume to chill out in that.

my 2020 Power wagon has terrible AC it is basically luke warm on max when it is 100F out. My jk wranglers would freeze you out and give you frost bite compared to this. I guess there is a tsb to fix it but I have heard luke warm results pun intended....

Yup ball shut off and/or clamp on water pump to heater core line. I had the clamp on last year. I had the TSB done, and it is better, but only with clamp on line can I get 41 degrees out of vent. With TSB, I am getting 46-48 ish out vents. Tolerable, but not win any awards. AND when it goes over 100 degrees, well, do I need to say.

There is a TSB: 24-001-20. U have to check if your truck falls in the specs. But be warned: They pull out the dash, EVAC, blower, etc, to do this. Then they reflash BCM and the reflash is lousy. Really derates AC working on Remote Start. Not till U go to truck and push the start button to go to run from remote does system work 100%.

I see lots of people on here insulating the hoses with hardware store waterpipe insulation. Im sure they will check in soon. It worked for them I remember.

My 2015 AC is not too bad, I average a 40*f T.D. (Temperature drop ) from outside temps. Can can get pretty cold in the 80/90s
From what I have heard the main reason fair AC Temps is the new Freon, ,But never though about the heater core being used with AC so that also make a lot of sense of some of the fair AC temps

I wrapped the Suction line (larger freon line) from the firewall entrance through the fender (gotta work for it) and across the front of the engine to around the dipstick area. I used Armaflex AC insulation I had on hand. Regular pipe insulation from the big box stores will work too. Try to get the "rubber like" more expensive one. It will bend easier. I used wire ties every 4-6 inches to hold it in place. I am in SC and the humidity is very high here. My A/C seems to work just fine. It's about 20 minutes work and a few $$ to try it. Can't hurt. Good Luck

Mine shut off on me a few times. Assuming due to the outside temps being so high causing the lines to build to much pressure. I used closed cell insulation on the vacuum side to help keep the lines from heat soaking and my vent temps definitely dropped a few degrees and have not had it shut off anymore since doing that. The vacuum lines were very warm to the touch before and after insulating the lines they are cool/cold all the way to the compressor and even the compressor feels cool to the touch now even in the hot summers here in south Florida.

I have seen that also, where PPL insulate with like AC line stuff. WELL, the big problem is: The refrigerant and recovery line runs right in front of the engine, less than a foot away from MY 850 Watt E-Fan. That not help. BUT, I tried the ole wrap the refrigerant pipe there. not work, system actually did poorer. I just used a piece of 3/4 heater line and a few clamps to check it out. IMHO, not do much of ne thing, but then it was only a heater hose, LOL.

I do have some oversized refrigerant line wrap (ac line wrap) and if I get ambitious, I may cut some pieces off of that and try. But honestly, think a lot of work for lil or no improvement. Shall see< I gotta find some muffler wrap to keep on the line, not want melted electric tape from heat of radiator, LMAO...Maybe some zip ties work, hmmmmmmm,, well I do have to go to Wally World, LOL...

I have only had my 4th Gen a few months now. I live in south east GA and it's hot af down here.

So far the trucks ac has been good. It ain't near as cold as my wife's ac in her avalon but I still find myself turning it down from max ac to auto after a few mins.

My complaint is that it has no physical buttons to sync driver/passenger temp and no physical button for max AC.

Well so far so good, I have about 900 miles on my truck and the A/C works good. It's been in the mid 90's, here with a feels like temp in the low 100's. Very humid, but the truck stays cool, and comfortable.

Wow! I thought it was just me! My AC in my new 2021 Ram Regular cab sucks as soon as it cracks 90 degrees. Not so fun when it's over 100 and you have the vinyl interior. My old Ram would require a coat if you ran it on full AC well above 100 degrees. Glad to know it's not me. Will talk to the dealer about that TSB hopefully this week.

I know I said I'd take a thermometer to my dash vent but unfortunately the weather here was kind of cool so it would've useless. Maybe this week we'll get some heat again. I really cant believe I that said that because up until 2 days ago it was scorching hot. This weekend was gorgeous
