I think it's amazing how the auto makers keep adding functions and features to modern vehicles and then consumers ways to eliminate or bypass those features.

I suppose most of the reason why this happens is due to standards and requirements imposed by government regulations.

Just more stuff to repair right after it goes out of warranty. No thanks!
That's definitely true. I normally don't keep my vehicles beyond the factory warranty, but I'm considering keeping this truck longer as long as it doesn't start falling apart. I'll be looking into getting a Mopar extended warranty if I decide to keep it, to cover things like this.

I'm pretty sure the etorque components (motor/generator and battery) are covered for 8 years based on the emissions system requirements. Doesn't matter since I bought the 8 year extended anyway.

You're right. I guess my response was poorly worded. My reason for thinking about an extended warranty is more for covering things that are no longer covered after the original warranty expires, even though I might have indicated it was for the etorque components. Sorry for the confusion.

I bought the 7 year extended on my 15 Laramie and recently had to pay a bill of $424 for a leaky sunroof that was not covered. I have recently been told that the uconnect screen is also not covered on that warranty. Thats scarey because my ram is already on its 2nd one, and my 2018 Hellcat screen only lasted 2 years but was on the original bumper to bumper when it puked.
As I read further into my extended warranty I found more items listed that were not covered than things that were. My outside rearview recently stopped defrosting however, and it was covered. Extended warrantees are a toss up I guess. But we all fear a transmission issue etc after the warranty expires. That should be on the 5 year powertrain though wouldn't it?

The owners manual will dismiss alot if the incorrect facts on this subject.

Difference in the system is starter vs generator and 48v aux battery.

I have the eT on my 1500 . It shuts the truck off every time I come to a stop even with the heater or a/c going . If you are test driving new ones the separate batteries on the eT might not be fully charged so you might not feel the feature . If your sitting in traffic long enough the e torque will kick the engine back on to either charge it self or get the a/c back on . “Not sure “ the only down side I’ve seen is when I’m in a drive through . If I slightly let off the brake pedal the eT starts the truck and lunges it forward . It took some getting used to
