If you've never done your truck before plan on *at least* 5-6 cans. The 360 wand attachment goes thru the cans QUICK and you're going to want to really soak the rockers, frame rails, door bottoms, etc the first time spraying it.

Also might want to consider Woolwax for the high wash areas...

Its kinda hard to find and its definitely more expensive than the original FF. $15/can is about normal....

Did you try kellsportproducts?

I use the aerosol cans of clear for quick touch ups and getting into door bottoms.

To do a whole truck, I'd go woolwax and the spray gun kit.

Love WW and FF, but I hear noxudol is a better spray can product.

I'd buy a case of the spray cans and yes get the wand attachment, you'll go through 6 cans easy..

after a little research i am torn between woolwax and ff.they are the same with woolwax being a little thicker from the info im getting.thicker would be better to help it stay on ,correct?also, i can get 6 cans of woolwax black w/the wand at amazon for 75.00.im sure its going to suck when i have to to wrench under the truck and everything is covered in black ****,or even clear but i suppose thats better than watching the truck rot to hell.with the woolwax black what do i need to avoid spraying?what about over spray on gas tank, rubber bushings, exhaust hangers,plastic/rubber lines.what about dripping on the tires?

I've used both and my experience with them is Fluid Film creeps better into seems while Woolwax resists wash off better. Ideally you would us FF on the inside cavities and WW on the outside.

Here's a video that might be of some help on your decision:

Hey neighbor! I'm just outside of East Aurora. They say FF or WW can swell natural rubber products, but I don't know of any natural rubber on a vehicle these days. It's safe and recommended for electrical connections, wiring, soft parts, etc. Like you say, it does create a dirty, greasy undercarriage, but I'll take that over rust any day.

I too have and continue to use both WW and FF. I've found that if you are doing the application on an ~80degF day, both products ssem to thin, cover and flow the same. I think I've mentioned it in this thread, but to me, the main difference is WW smells much nicer than FF.

WW does seem to hang on to exposed surfaces better. They both wash off areas that see heavy road blast.

Honestly either will serve you well in preserving your truck. The best way to order WW is to go to https://www.kellsportproducts.com/ and order it directly from them.

As for the black, I personally wouldn't do the entire undercarriage with the black. Its going to be an absolute mess for anyone working under there. I used the black on the rear axle because it can be seen from behind the truck and it looks like I just painted it.

Woolwax after 2.5 months. This is the frame right before the lower rear control arm, usually a spot I have to touch up mid winter. Looks really good, I'm impressed so far.575b96cf9c56b113a44083374e29860d.jpg

Yeah that should work.

I believe on the 3rd gens that’s the only access to the rockers...

I gave my truck a complete treatment with fluid film this week. Used about a half gallon total. Hope I didn't miss a spot!

Took me about 7 - 8 hours total and I haven't even cleaned up yet. I don't think I'll be doing such a thorough job every year - just too much work. And dirty, messy job, too. But maybe I'll give it a basic coverage every year and hit some of the more difficult to access areas every few years on a rotating basis.

After applying it, I have pretty good confidence it is going to work well at protecting the steel.

Yeah the first time is the absolute worst job to do. It takes forever and you get covered in it. Trust me tho, its 100% worth doing if you plan on keeping your truck.

It does get easier year after year. After treating my truck annually for 5 years, this year it literally took me a half hour to touch up the high wash areas. Everywhere else had a nice thick layer of FF.
