New Ram orders, when, where and share what you know

I did not order running boards on my 2500 CC build. I thought I would go with aftermarket but I haven't seen any that I liked. I have contacted Renae to see if they can still be added and not sure it can be. Does anyone have a source for the Mopar ones that can be added during the build? I haven't found many and what I have found is ridiculous in price.

I believe, Any changes to the order would have to be made & accepted during the first 3 weeks
You can always have the dealership install them, but they would cost normal price

It does not matter what day you place an order, the dealer sends in the order at a given date, say for instance, the 11th of the month, or maybe Headquarters accepts the order on that given date.

ALLOTMENT: ......................................

A dealership can only order X amount of Rams, X amount of Jeeps, X amount of Challengers, etc.
X is determined by an average of how many of each vehicle that dealership sells in a period of time, like say for a year.

If say a dealership sells an average of 10 Rams each month for a year, Headquarters may set their Allotment at 10 Rams a month.
Now in November, for instance, they have customers come in & the total amount of the orders comes out to be 12 Rams,
Headquarters only allows 10 Rams for November & the other 2 would go to the December ordering allotment.
That is why some Orders take a Month longer to go to Chicago for instance.
( i used Chicago as a reference point, because Chicago is the biggest Way Point for vehicles traveling by freight train )

Almost all Ram 1500s, not sold to someone living in Michigan or Ontario Canada, go by freight train to a huge freight railroad yard just outside of Chicago, then it is rerouted from that point.

Almost all of the Heavy Duty Rams leave Saltillo Mexico, entering Texas at the town of Eagle Pass Texas
When the train makes its first stop in Texas, some freight cars with HD Rams are dropped off, then i think the original freight train goes to Wichita, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, some freight cars carrying Rams are dropped off at each City, but most go to Chicago & then are re-routed

It seems to me that the Heavy Duty Rams are taking about 1/2 the time that it was taking back in October & November

( I just had a crazy thought, remember when everyone was ordering Rams & because of the microchip shortage, they could not be completed as ordered, so they parked them in storage lots.
I wonder if they are now comparing new orders to old stock & completing a modified order )

Normally the next step is to schedule a semi truck to haul the vehicles to the different dealerships that are serviced around that area

Either they are waiting on the car hauler
or it was damaged in transit
Hopefully it is the former

Update. Ram recalled my truck from the train parking lot and is sending it back to the factory. The dealer did not know why. So I punted on that truck and reordered another Backcountry edition. Wish me luck

Yeah could be. The dealer said maybe since it's a new package maybe they left something off. Who knows. It's sat in Hapeville for 5 weeks. Time to move on.

I was going to order a laramie 3500. Sales guy said 90days but then the sales manager said Ram is stopping production on trucks until March. He said real time he guessed would be 8 months depending on how many orders get put in and how many back logs they get with part shortage.

I ordered a Laramie 2500 with the 6.4 hemi on Dec 6. I received an email with my VIN on Dec 15. On Jan 10, I was able to see the build sheet and the window sticker. Also on Jan 10, my salesman said it has shipped and should arrive at the dealership between Jan 19 and Jan 24.
It was built in Mexico and I am in South Louisiana.

Material shortage is Material shortage. No matter how much people depend on something can't make stuff if you don't have parts.

What did you order and where are you located? I ordered a 2500 Limited at the end of October and it's said to deliver to the Chicago area between 1/24 and 2/2 of 2022.

That's interesting. I ordered a Limited 2500 Cummins on October 25th and got the build sheet on like Jan 3. I got the WS a couple days later. I was told the truck was finished and waiting to be shipped. It was in line waiting for a train. I did a Ram Chat and the lady said its still waiting but is slatted to be at my Chicago area dealer between 1/24 and 2/2.

GT, Thanks for all information. You are a sharp guy that seems to know a lot about how this works. I have done some research and you are on point from what I have seen from my own basic research.

My truck is on the train. ETA to rail yard is 1/25. She said it could take 3 weeks from rail yard to dealership.
