Hello all!

With RAM continuing to produce these 4th Gens as the "Warlock" Package I figured I would make a Thread Explaining the Lift on these trucks as its a question that gets asked a lot. Of course RAM doesn't really put any info out there to help us in the aftermarket world.

The Warlocks Come with a 1" lift from the factory over the stock ones. This is the same lift that is/was used on the Outdoorsman and old "TRX" model (not the same as the new one with the Hellcat in it) The Lift is Achieved in 2 ways.

Front: The Front of the Warlocks is lifted .7" over factory using a higher spring seat, also called the circlip. It is fixed to the stock shock body. So there is no adjustment on the stock shock. The Bilstein 5100 and 6112 has an adjustable spring seat allowing different ride heights to be achieved. This is what creates the lift.

When lifting the front of a 4th Gen ram truck it is generally regarded that Higher than 2" of front lift needs new Upper Control Arms if off-roading at all. So this would be anything over 1.4" on the Warlocks. UCA's are one of those highly discussed subjects.... The best all around replacement UCA would be the ZONE one. (Personally been running mine for 20,000 miles at the time of writing this)

Most people would suggest the Bilstein 5100's for leveling out the front of the Warlocks. Setting them at 2.8 usually levels out these trucks perfectly with a slight rake to the back.

If you do a puck spacer lift on these trucks you will have .7" of higher lift than advertised.

Explanation Photos on the front

This is Bilstein 5100's at 2.8 on a 2019 Warlock

Now onto the rear of these trucks.

RAM says that the rear lift is achieved by "HD" coils. These will have a slightly stiffer rate than the factory ones. Of information that I've gathered it seems that these "HD" rear coils tend to be .5 - 1.5" higher than stock. 4th Gen rams are known to have vastly different rakes varying from truck to truck.

When searching for a lift I would recommend getting good Front and Rear wheelwell measurements to see how much rake you have. This will help in deciding how much to lift the front.

The stock rear shocks are absolute crap.... Bilstein P/N (24-187374) and Icon P/N (216524) both make great replacements that will help the ride a lot.

Now for your bracket style 4 and 6 inch lift kits, the same applies if you leave the stock shocks in you will have a .7" lift over what is given. I.E. You will have a 4.7" lift or 6.7" lift respectfully in the front. In the rear depends on how its lifted. If you choose a lift with new Coils expect to achieve slightly less than advertised rear lift. If you choose a lift with spacers it will stay the same.

I recommend going with Zone or Superlift for 4" or 6" kits. if you are unsure about what will fit your needs reach out to members @Quick_Shifter or @Nick@GotExhaust Both of these Guys can get anyone squared away with what they need.

Hopefully this is somewhat informational and can help in understanding how these wonderful trucks work.

Awesome info, thanks for sharing! I have had many customers with Warlocks that were unsure on what fits and what doesnt and also how much height do levels/lifts offer. I am sure this will be a huge help

Thanks for the detailed write up JB Nice job!

Interesting that this has HD rear coils, which is an easy way to lift from the factory but...........My 2021 Ram1500 Quad cab 4x4 Warlock (5.7 V8 3.92 gears) only has 1415 lbs of payload and the truck is not loaded. I get that the front bumper is all metal and skid plates add a bit of weight, but it is less payload than my 2018 Quad Cab SLT Express 4x4 5.7 V8 with similar features. You would think the HD rear springs would add to the payload capacity.

Weird when somebody makes a half ton truck that can only haul half of 2000 lbs huh? :birgits_tiredcoffee

I know I was infuriated when I bought a motorbike and the first time I went for a ride in the rain I got all wet!

Don't appreciate your sarcastic comments. I've owned several half tons over the last 30 years and was surprised of the low payload. For instance a 3.6l similarly equipped may have a 1700 lb payload

The Payload on these trucks is known to be quite bad. Speaking from experience the stock coils sucked at handling weight. I had 900-1000 lbs of gear on my first long overland trip in the bed with stock coils, and interstate driving was miserable. Also towed around 5k and also not a fun experience. I will say some timbren bumpstops helped tremendously with payload and towing. I now have superlift SL-140 rear coils and it hauls and tows like a dream now.

This is stock springs and not even a lot of wood and you can see the sag.

This is stock springs and maybe 2500 total lbs of trailer weight. (loaded correctly) and she was sagging.

My ‘16 power wagon laramie (2500 truck) has less than 1200 lbs of payload. They are what they are.

Do you still use the Timbren bumps or do you need them at all now ?

Yes I am still using the Timbrens. They are my "cheat" for a longer bumpstop mount. Since they are about 1.5-2" longer than the stockers. I also tow on occasion so they help with that. With the new Springs I still have about an inch of space at load, but it's nice when hitting those large potholes at speed. The timbrens just soak it right up.

I’ve been looking at those timbrens to use as an extended bump stop. How are they when off-roading?

With my stock warlock coils - horrible lol
With my new superlift ones - awesome

With the stock ones and my overland load they we’re almost touching so everything flexing it was always on the bump stops. The new springs are progressive and taller, so by the time it gets to the bump stops it’s already firmed so it’s nice.

Interesting..so for us "city" folk that hardly load the rear would you suggest different rear springs for any partcular reason? Will it for example improve handling control on ice or wet roads..or none of the above...Thanks

If you're not putting weight in the bed of the truck I would not worry about doing anything to factory coils. If you wanted a better ride some new shocks would help a lot.

How about using them to remove the added rear spacer/puck for a Bilstein 2.8 level? Too much lift on that spring?

If you found a pair on marketplace I'd say go for it. you should come out with .5" of rake, If not. For the money I would upgrade to some Icon 1.5" rear springs.

I find all this interesting and am a first time Ram owner. I pull a 25ft travel trailer with a 2019 warlock with 3.92's. My biggest complaint is sway. I have a reese dual cam set up now which is much better than the hitch that came with the set up. From what I am reading here I may need some changes to the suspension. Anyone here have suggestions based on facts?
No I am not going to stop towing! just make it better and safer.

Do you have any modifications to your suspension at all?

If your weight is distributed correctly in the trailer, and you're still having sway I would look at 1 of 3 options

1. Timbren bumpstops - Good option if you're springs are sagging to the point where they would touch. But if your WDH has taken out the rake not sure its a great idea. The stock springs are not progressive so unless they are on the timbrens constantly I wouldn't recommend this with the stock springs. Going to feel like you're hitting a 2x4 over every bump.

2. Air Bump Stops. - Something like the Airlift 5000 would help the most with stock coils. You can add or subtract air in the bags to get the best "firmness" while towing and while daily driving.

3. Upgrade to the Icon 1.5" lift Coils + 2.0 Shocks. The shocks aren't completely needed but for that price you'll be floored how much better the truck rides in all conditions. Pair this with the timbrens and you would have a great riding truck all around. The downside to this is you *might* achieve more rear lift than what you already have.

As a bonus you could also upgrade the stock track bar. The factory one is essentially a hard spaghetti noodle. That will really help stiffen up the rear sway on the road.
