I picked my ram for a few reasons. My Grandfather (has an 07 with 37,000miles *not a typo*) and Dad (has a 12' with 180,000 miles) have both owned multiple Rams and love them. I love the sound of the hemi and dual exhaust, even stock best sounding truck on the road. I also felt it one of the sharpest looking trucks on the road. Also for the price I felt like I got a lot of options. I looked at some silverado's before I bought my ram, Hard to find a crew cab with center console for a decent price. For me when I bought there was really nothing the compared. I love my truck, tows great, great for road trips with the family!

At the time I got my Ram, I had been looking for a vehicle for a couple of weeks, and frankly, I was getting frustrated (and p!ssed off at some of the dealer interactions I had).

I went into dealerships totally honest and laid it out: I am going to buy a vehicle, give me a fair price, and no BS please. At a local Ford dealership, I walked around for 20 minutes, not one salesperson made any attempt to greet me, say "screw you" or anything.

I was actually almost ready to buy a car, a new Camry. Then, Hurricane Irma went through our area, which sidelined me for a few days, and my Wife herniated a disc in her back (a total fluke thing, and it ended up disabling her, but then we had no idea how it would progress).

So, the need for the ability to carry and haul steered me in the direction of a truck. Found mine at a Honda dealership about 1-1/2 hours away.

Took a test drive and put $100 dollars for them to hold it. Brought my FIL back the next day to check it out. He said it looked great to him, and she was mine. Paperwork took damn near all day. Sucked.

Thought Rams looked tough ever since the '97s, and think the designers nailed it with the 4th gen.

The truck was a blessing, and she has been great to me.

White 2015 Ram 1500 SLT QC 5.7L 8SPD 2WD with 28,600 miles on her and 5" Raptor step bars. She now has almost 138,000 miles. Still strong. Had normal stuff - tires, brakes, serviced trans, spark plugs, coolant, pcv, belt, brake fluid, broken exhaust manifold bolts.

Oil changes according to OCI, PP 5W-20 all but PP 5W-30 last change, lubegard on last couple of changes, fram XG10060 filter, trying to get my head wrapped around trying Redline 5W-30 next go.

Another blessing is that with my Wife's disabilty, she is able to get in and out ok with the raptor 5" step bars that were on the truck. Had we purchased a car, it would have been terrible with her injury.

Our neighbor growing up in Lynwood had a DeSoto and man that thing was cool, as a kid I always wanted one when I grew up ... my uncles and the neighbor were always adding new things to it, it was a lowrider with a crazy paint job that had some horses with the face of DeSoto on the hood of the car and on the fin area ....

HEMI Engines when we could work on them easily

Desoto over the years, including when it first had the real HEMI engine

Unfortunately, i think the broadcaster is speaking in Tagalog, or possibly another Spanish language off shoot

The very first HEMI was announced in 1905 made by a guy named PIPE

Chrysler began working on it for the military

First Generation Hemi (1951-1958)

Hemi knowledge gained during and post-WWII hit the street in 1951 with the production of Chrysler’s first overhead-valve V-8, replacing the flat head (which had its valves in the cylinder block). The cast-iron, 331ci “FirePower” engine was rated at 180 hp.
Some of Chrysler’s divisions created their own dissimilar inline-six and V-8 Hemi versions, although Plymouth did not incorporate a first-generation Hemi into its lineup.

Chrysler and Imperial: FirePower (331, 354, 392 ci)
Desoto: Fire Dome (276, 291, 330, 341, 345 ci)
Dodge: Red Ram (241, 270, 315, 325 ci), Power Giant (354 ci), intended for heavy trucks.

I know a guy who had a total brain fart and put DEF Into his diesel inlet (which we know is right next to the DEF inlet). $12k in repairs.

Maybe that's why GM puts the DEF inlet somewhere else?
I was told they finally moved the DEF inlet to where Ram (and most others) has it. When even taller people need a step ladder to access that inlet, it is a total pain. Every so often one is led to wonder what the engineers were thinking (or not) when they come up with stuff.

I'm not exactly brand loyal, usually a GM guy. I was driving my 2004 Honda coupe from college when I decided to shop for truck possibilities. Had a great job and income so I was open minded.

Went to GM first, sales staff didn't seem to take me seriously at either dealership I went to. Not to mention they were very proud of the silverado, couldn't justify the price.

Went to Ford next, pretty similar experience to the GM dealerships. Really pricey trucks that I couldn't justify.

Went to a Ram dealer in town, and drove a few 3/4 ton trucks and was really interested. But was convinced that I didn't actually need a diesel. The more I looked at their stock of 1/2 ton trucks, the more I like them. More options I was able to get for the money. After a few weeks, they presented me with a truck that is most of what I wanted, and it was cheaper than base model silverado or F150. Went to check it out, and drove it home. Still have it 8 years later. I know I made the right choice. Will be needing to upgrade to a crew cab soon as you can't exactly fit two car seats in the back of a quad cab. But, with car prices out of control, I'll hold off as long as I can.

Typically, in large corporations it's the youngest, cheapest engineers running amok. They're hyper-book smart, and really common sense dumb. Corporations no longer value experience or faster product development due to that experience - all they see is "high cost" on the employee ledger sheet and get rid of us.

They you get what you are seeing. They don't know any better - they weren't taught and aren't monitored. And if you still buy their product despite your unhappiness with such things, they really don't care about your unhappiness. Look at all the customer gripes on here about corporate non-response.

I lived the dream.

I actually wanted a Chevy. I looked at the reviews and the prices. A few guys at work had Rams . I borrowed a guys at work that had 200,000 plus on it and it rode like new. I asked what he had done to it and it was juts basic maintenance ( he is fussy but wow) I asked the other guys same story my 2nd or 3rd ram never any major issues always rode nice and just bought new to upgrade. I drove the 2020 Ram with the Hemi and bought it without parking it. I went back into the lot and said i am keeping it . I had already negotiated what i thought was a good deal before test driving it.

My Story, I was a diehard Ford guy bought them for the past 15yrs, I was looking at a Lariat f-150 and I had sticker shock that they were going about 10,000 more that the XLT's I had a 2018 F-150 2.7 eb to trade in, so I went to a dodge dealer just to look and compare I really didn't need a CC so they bring out this 2019 Laramie loaded QC, I took it for a ride and didn't know a pickup truck could handle so well I was sold, i got this truck for 15,000 less than a lariat, I got about 20,000 miles on it now and they have been trouble free

Last spring we were offered a "can't pass on this" deal on a nearly new camper. Only catch was that our 2008 Hyundai Veracruz wasn't really built to pull the thing. Started looking at pickups. I was never a full size truck person and I had fond memories of my 97 GMC Jimmy(RIP). So At first I Thought maybe a Duramax Canyon or Colorado would work. In the meantime we borrowed the FIL's V8 GMC Sierra 1500 for multiple camping trips. Realized 3 things: 1. GM's mid-sized offerings just weren't going to work FOR ME since the camper is so much wider than they are. Ditto for the diesel Jeep Gladiator. 2. Gas V8's are so obnoxiously loud when doing anything close to work. 3. I HATE paying for the fuel those obnoxious "HEY LOOK AT ME!" engines guzzle.
Tried a buddy's 3.5 EcoBoost for a weekend. It was...Nice. But not quite the fuel mileage I was looking for. F-150 diesel? Too new to be in our price range. Same with the 1500 DuraMax. And I find the newer Silverados ugly. So we come to the 4th Gen Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. Checks all the boxes on paper, rides real nice, the 3.0 does it's thing with no drama, the styling is on-point and prices are starting to become less stupid on them. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

^^^ I agree.
My cousin's wife has a F150 Lariat with the 3.5 Ecoboost and it's a decent performing engine all things considered but her mileage isn't any better than my 2019 Laramie with the 5.7 Hemi.

I had Ford and Chev trucks up until 2002 when Ram came out with the Gen 3 style in the 1500. It looked so good, I had to try it. And ever since then, I’ve always driven a Ram.

2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Quad Cab (black)
2010 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Crew Cab (red)
2014 Ram 1500 4x4 Crew Cab (red)
2019 Ram 1500 Limited 4x4 Crew Cab (black)
2021 Ram 2500 Power Wagon 75th Anniversary (black)

Very happy!

Needed a Pickup truck to tow an enclosed trailer 1-2 times a year.

After doing so was when I realized Ram was really the best choice.

First Mopar owned, and sure it won’t be the last one :waytogo:

I bought a new Ram because of a wicked good price on a new truck. The First Responder discount through the FCA fleet sales department is... BIG!. How else could I get a brand new 4WD truck with a v-8 engine for $32,500 plus tax and destination?

And, it seems to be a great truck, too. I love that hemi V-8.

For me it was having so much knowledge of the 4th gen rams and access to many used parts.

Worked in a bodyshop since I was 14. I'm 27 now and we see ALOT of 4th gen rams. I've probably painted well over a thousand of them. I wouldn't say I'm an expert when it comes to the motor and drive train but when it comes to the body and interior I know almost every detail about them. Taking mine apart and rebuilding it was so easy because of past experience.

That's going to look nice when you finish. I like purple and blue, looks like it's going to be one of them depending how the light shines on it. Please show pictures when it's finished!
