I purchased Factory Lifetime Unlimited Milage Warranty when I bought the truck. At ~40,000 miles it bought me a new Radio Screen and Chrysler refunded my warranty $100 deductible because it was out of factory warranty but that screen had known issues. I was happy.

At ~50,000 miles driving unloaded on the highway my tranny went into 4th gear limp mode (did not know that was a thing at the time) I tried manually shifting +/- , switched on Tow Mode, nothing so I pulled off the road , turned ignition off , restarted and all good. No other issues for next ~2000 miles.

When I took it in for the next service I advised them of the "stuck in 4th" thing. They said that "no codes showed on diagnostics".

At ~60,000 miles same thing , same response from dealer when serviced again. No codes.

I experience "limp mode" 3 or 4 more times between 60,000 service and ~72,000 . Back to dealer , they said "well you were supposed to have tranny serviced at 60,000, fluid change and 2 filters, that is your problem" I reminded them that I had told them of the issue 2 other times when in for service way before 60,000. They shrugged me off. I had them change F and R Diffs and TC fluids and service Tranny , fluids and 2 filters. Again, "all looks good, no codes"

BTW, owner's manual says Trans service at 60,000 if used as Fleet, Taxi, or "frequent towing" 120,000 miles otherwise. I tow a bass boat and a 2 horse trailer occasionally as I have another rig for heavy everyday ranch work/towing

At ~77,000 the truck started bucking , erratic shifts, limp mode, loud kick in the butt when shifting into reverse , shift from 1st to second RPMs skyrocket and then bang into 2nd.

I limped it to a different dealer , Moritz in Ft Worth , and the Adviser plugged in diagnostic reader right there on the spot and said "there are all kinds of codes" and next day was told my tranny was dead and either needed complete rebuild or replacement and Chrysler would decide. They decided to replace it. Today they said Tranny was on backorder and may possibly be a month or longer. They said my warranty only covers first $175 of rental but "no worries" Chrysler is covering 100% and you will get a 1/2 ton truck not a car since obviously that is what you prefer.

That $3000 warranty is golden, that truck will be in my barn till the day I die. I've put the lifetime warranty to the test and Chrysler passed with flying colors.

If you live anywhere near Ft Worth, Moritz Chrysler Dodge RAM Jeep will take good care of you! Im taking my Service Advisor a bottle of Jack when I pick my PW up.

Helllllllll yeaaaaaaaaaa! That is great to hear. I often wonder if the lifetime warranty will serve me well or not. Im at almost 60k miles and have not had to use it yet. I cringe when the time comes that I could use it yet they backpedal and leave me high and dry. I honestly think a lot of the outcome has to do with the dealer you are using.

I have to ask, is your truck 100% stock (as in no modifications)?

Not breaking my heart that if it does take 4 to 6 weeks to get the new tranny, I have a 2021 RAM 1500 loaner to pile miles on. Not exactly using the PW for much more than daily driver and towing my Bass Boat around.

My 2016 Ram Eco-diesel was a factory order & was delivered on January 16th, i tried getting the Lifetime Extended Warranty & the Finance Office told me that they were no longer available.
They gave me 10 Free Oil Changes using Synthetic Oil, i just had to buy a Fuel filter when it was due.
The Oil changes have now expired & i will be paying for them from now on.

There was a short period of time you could get a lifetime warranty. As in forever. The OP has it, as do i.
Me too! I’m pretty sure I’ll break SOMETHING, one of these days! $100 deductible isn’t horrible either! I believe the guy I spoke with(at length) called it a “100 year, million mile” warranty! ;-)

I bought my truck may of ‘16 and it was still available then.

Its possible it was not an option on the diesel?

Lifetime was available until Dec 1, 2018 in the US. Some vehicles were not eligible, but I don't remember if the light duty diesels were excluded or not.

I would have grabbed on the Lifetime Extended Warranty in a second, if the Finance Office had said it was available.

When i bought my 2009 Ram off the new sales lot, i didn't know about how the extended warranty worked, so i did not buy it.
When i had 34,000 miles on that Ram, i happened to be in the Customer Lounge getting coffee.
A Service Assistant walked in & was talking very softly to a friend, who was a customer, he explained in detail about why his friend should buy the Lifetime Extended Warranty.

I walked as quickly as i could over to the Finance Office & purchased the Lifetime Extended Warranty.

..................................................................

It was after i bought the 2016, that i found out about shopping around for a better price on Extended Warranty.
I was on another Ram forum, when someone mentioned the low price at Ziegler.

Man that 1500 2 wheel drive 5.7 loaner runs good! I'm having a hard time keeping my foot off the floor. My wife and I are going everywhere in it instead of her SUV. She commented yesterday "You like this truck don't you". My Reply "If it had 4 wheel drive, 6" more ground clearance, and a lifetime warranty, it would be OK I recon" She said "yeah but in 40 years and a dozen trucks, I've never seen you LOVE LOVE LOVE any truck till you got the Power Wagon"

I have a 2017 1500 Big Horn. I have the lifetime warranty, used it once - exhaust manifold seal (?). Double check the wording on the warranty. Mine states they will replace UNTIL the value of the fix exceeds the value of the truck, then they will pay me the value of the truck and then the warranty expires.

Part of the reason I got the lifetime warranty was to keep my ass from buying a new truck with more and newer trinkets!! lol

I have a '14 Big Horn with 90K miles. I also bought the lifetime extended warranty when I bought the truck new. I think they covered some rear brake parts when the calipers stuck, which I was a little surprised at. Otherwise, other than a battery, tires, and oil changes, I haven't had any issues with it.

I too will be keeping this truck with that warranty until there's nothing of the body left to drive...

I find it hard to believe that when a transmission goes into Limp Mode it doesn't leave any stored codes!
