I know, and the tire selection is even larger when one goes with 20" rims. But I kinda like the "Diamond Cut" stock rims, and 35's have the disadvantage that the spare wheel doesn't fit anymore. So 34's is a good size for me, I think.

On my 2016 the 34.8" (34.76?) Toyo C/T spare fits very tight with 37 PSI, but there's no additional clearance all around.

Well, tires and wheels are hard to sell online, as it really makes little sense to ship them. So you'll need to get lucky to find a local who wants them.

My (new) stock tires were the only thing I didn't like about my truck but couldn't justify buying new tires when the stock ones worked just fine.

RAM threw on the cheapest Goodyear tires possible but I got lucky and managed to get 40k, other were not so lucky:

I love my new shoes so far.

I don't mind you guys making fun of me because of that, I can stand the heat ;-)
But no, mpg is not a main concern, like you said, a PW will never be good at that. Main concern is pavement traction in dry/wet conditions (which a highway tire will always do better than an offroad tire due to a different channeling structure and less negative profile) and road noise. The PW I test drove with the Duratracs had an audible hum even at 30 mph, so it's probably only going to get louder at 70 mph.

Just looked at the Nitto Dura Grappler, the 285/75/17 (34") weighs 67 lbs compared to 50 on the Defender in 285/70/17 (33"). That sounds like a lot regarding unsprung weight, but I don't know what the rims weigh and if it really matters on a 7000lbs truck...
I prefer Pathfinder A/Ts. They are terrific tires on and off road!!!!!

Good luck without the 3PMSF rating on tires around here. Run them on everything, but our boat trailer.

same in central British Columbia, not only is it a mandated requirement in winter it's also a deathwish to not run 3pmsf.good thing our power wagons come with winter rated rubber, even if they are duracraps.

Not sure if they're available in truck sizes, but on cars in colder climates I used to run specialized winter tires. Those have a softer rubber formula and grip a lot better than all-year tires. But they were way too soft in Summer and wore out quickly, so I changed tires every spring and fall.
But we're getting off-topic here...

Lots of 300 to 1,000 feet cliffs here without guardrails. The 3PMSF Duracrap is better than any highway tread.

Toyo RTs are a good hwy tire with offroad ability. RT 35s on stock rims worked well for me.

yup hard to beat RT's, my biggest complaint is they last too long...seriously that is my only complaint. Smooth and quiet yet tough enough to go offroad. I used them for years on my jeep too.

Duracraps are utilized in regions where it snows a lot on 4WD vehicles other than just Jeeps.
