I'm new to the Ram truck scene, but I got a new to me 2005 Ram 1500 SLT with a 5.7. In an effort to keep it clean I would live to be able to detail the inside and out myself. The trouble is I suffer from arthritis really bad. Is there any thoughts on how I can do the detailing myself with my hands the way they are?

As I've gotten more mature I look for easy myself. I found that the Meguiar's Ultimate line of products work great, and are easy on easy off. The waterless wash, detail and spray wax put a great shine on the paint. And they will last a good 3 months. The 303 line of products are great also, but they cost a bit more. I use the 303 UV protectant on all of the plastic parts, and the interior. It makes them look as good as new. Just get you some good micro fiber towels, and take your time. It takes me a bit longer to clean up a vehicle than it used too, believe me. Enjoy that new to you truck.

BTW, both of those brands can be found at your local Wally World.

I second the above post. Those Maguire products are easy on easy off. No need to ‘rub’ and cause issues with shoulder or hand pains. I too have arthritis in my hands and I use them.
Also, maybe a light buffer will help if you are able? Plenty of battery ones around that do not need masses of pressure to use.
Last point, I know you want to do it all yourself, as so I, but maybe a good deep professional detail now early in your ownership will allow you to maintain it that way yourself easier?

I'll chime in and say the above posts are spot on. I also clay bar before applying the waxes. I have arthritis in each of my digits at the elbow joint (a gift from my Mom).

i don't have bad arthritis but i do have "old man hands".i find that if i use really good quality products, strip and polish, then apply a good hybrid ceramic coating in the spring i can get away with using just a good hybrid ceramic spray wax after every wash till the fall.and take your time and invest in some power gear.i have a 1900 psi electric powerwasher with a foam cannon, and a cheap electric simoniz polisher.they say to never use a wash brush, only a 2 bucket/wash mitt but i say bs.use a good soft carwashing brush.as for the interior,it's a long, tedious ,labour intensive job and there's no easy shortcuts for it.

I agree with all of the above and I have another suggestion...break the time it takes to get it done into maybe 30 minutes a day and see if that causes less of a flare up. Also, if you are like me and my "get it done now" attitude, I set an alarm on my phone for whatever amount of time and "snooze it" each time till everything is put away...happy detailing to you..

I have arthritis too. I found an all natural way to get rid of most of the swelling and pain. It cures 80 to 90% of it. I have a brother in law that has it incredibly bad (he had a hip replaced from it) and I have him on the same regimen. You HAVE to give it 3 to 4 weeks to work. I take 1 Boron capsule and 1 Bromelain tablet with my breakfast and the same thing with dinner. Boron is used in the UK for Arthritis and Bromelain is made from Pineapples. Bromelain eats proteins and that's what Arthritis is. Most Arthritis is caused from proteins that our liver cannot breakdown so they accumulate in our joints. And it only gets worse as we age. Bromalain eats those proteins and boron helps with that process. They work incredibly well together. Boron will also help regulate testosterone in males and estrogen in females. It's a win-win.... Oh, Bromelain also works on eating the Covid spike proteins as well.

Anyway, I know this about detailing but I hope this helps you to do it without pain. :)

Best regards,

-Mike

My suggestion is fine a good detail shop that hand washes vehicles also. It will cost you, but you don't have to deal with the pain the rest of the day.

Interesting, I will have to try this.

I currently take CoQ10 (over the counter) and it offers a noticeable reduction in pain from arthritis. If you live in a cannabis-friendly state, there are two topical products I use on the digit elbow joints to relieve pain, one is a cream called Mary's made up of a 1:1 ratio of CBD and THC. The other is a spray called "CBD Icy Spray" which uses CBD mixed with menthol. It promises instant relief but it takes time for the spray to work, the cream works faster.

I was starting to get the big swollen joints and the regimen I quoted took care of 90% of everything. I have tried those other remedies but NOTHING works as good as the boron and bromelain. And I mean nothing. I have no pain. Sometimes I forget I even have arthritis. My brother in law was very skeptical until he gave it a month to work into his system. Honestly, I have never seen him so energetic and happy before. He has a grip like a vise so when I went to see him and my sister his hand shake was like a little kids. I asked him what was wrong and he showed me his hands. You literally couldn't see his knuckles. So I asked him if he was willing to try it and he didn't hesitate. I know a lot of all natural remedies for many ailments. Been studying them since 1997. If you need help with anything else, just ask, I'd be happy to.

Best regards,

-Mike

I've been using the Bromelain (liquid) for about a year now along with relief factor capsules. Most days I'm pain free until i get up and do something. I was taking 4x the recommended (Bromelain) but have now backed down to 2x.

I'll investigate the Boron. What is the recommended dosage?

I just do what I need to and get the job done and then take 2 Aleve capsules so I can sleep. If I really over exerted, I might have to continue with another capsule the next day but at least I can function relatively pain free.

Getting old isn't great but better than the alternative...

I take 1 at breakfast with the bromelain and 1 at dinner with the bromelain. I take Swanson's Triple Boron Complex. It says on the bottle 3mg capsules.
