Nice pictures! My new wix has those same markings on the baseplate i believe to! Looks the same except obviously the xp is black. And the centertube has holes instead of the cheese grater lookin thing, whats better do we know?
Supposedly the cheese grater style center tube turns the flow of oil into the engine better than the holes, but I don't think it really matters much IMO

I dont think so either as i have some old wix xp filters that are cheese grater center tubes and most that are holed center tubes. I emailed wix for efficiency ratings. Im hoping its been upgraded or something.

No problem. Unfortunately still a rock catcher at 99% efficiency at 35 microns and they refused to tell me efficiency at 20 microns. They said if i want a 20 micron filter to buy the wix 51372

I also found that the srt efficiency rating is 90% at 10 microns!

Sounds Wix-ish.
Royal Purple and Fram Ultra still best.

Haven't found studies of actual test results of particulates. Yeah, there's lab data, but I mean actual application data.
How much extra engi e durability is provided between best oil filters and marginal oil filters? It is well established that small abrasives wear metal surfaces. But what does that translate to? An extra 5 miles or 100,00 miles of engine life?

If not very much, then rock catchers would be fine.

Would be nice if there was some long term data

Couldn't we use the same argument for using synthetic versus conventional oil? What's the point? Wix is so bad it lets near sand size particles run around your engine. Sand = 74 Microns. Every other filter shown is 30 microns isnt getting through. Rock catcher is about right, everything else gets through. Hard to believe srt settled on this filter, unless you subscribe to the idea they don't want those vehicles to last as long as they should because their business model requires new sales.

Unsure. I think Group III/IV/V synthetic oils show a more marked benefit compared to refined Group II mineral oils to show highly probable benefits without tests.

In fact, we know it does just from the PUP marketing of cleanly piston rings and grooves in the Sequence IIID tests.

But we don't see that wear differentiation with filters. Why not? Because it doesn't matter that much to engine longevity? (unlike synthetic oils)

Highly probable versus real world miles. There has never and likely will never be definitive proof, but personally with this vehicle I am glad I used the best I personally could find. Something I never cared about or even attempted before. But then again cheap oil filters never made my truck tick before, or any oil, this was new to me. I would suggest the "thick" synthetic loose media is a feature of a filter w/o a downside, hits every metric, good flow and efficiency. I guess the only downside in theory would be less capacity, but I have never even seen much contamination in my cut open filters, I think if you did you would have larger problems with that vehicle. mopar filters are officially junk, I am a little embarrassed as the OP to have not found this easily obtainable info earlier, my bad.

Ya know i only ever looked at where the wix xp was on here i didnt even realize the purolator boss was so bad to! Poor filtration and low capacity. I just had a thought here, where do we place the wix xp and purolator boss in all these filters? Would we rather use them over a blended filter likw the mobil 1 filter due to them being synthetic media?

I agree with previous post! Grrrrrr!
Some of you may have seen a previous post of mine where the local dealer fitted a NAPA GOLD filter to my truck. I made them take it off, fit genuine which I know find out is a bad as NAPA (WIX????)
I too am fitting RP filters from now on!

I had the issue with puro and ticking, and yes it has been updated, but I don't prefer puro or wix. I only use RP 20-820 and already bought a lifetime supply. I wouldnt use blends cellulose stiffens and then as bad as wix is the wix would be better then stiffened cellulose. I would have no problem using RP cousin the Amsoil EA either, or Fram Ultra as a second option for me.
