I have found information as to what 6x9 speaker upgrades people are going with. I am wondering if the speaker that most people seem to like is still "the best". I'm speaking about the Infinity REF-9633ix. That speaker's price is dropping and instead of a pair of them costing $169.00, they can now be found for $89.00 per pair. This tells me that they are starting to be outdated or have been improved upon. I had $400/pair Hertz speakers in my Wrangler that were absolutely amazing.
Has anybody found a "better" sounding 6x9? I'm also wondering what mounting depth I can get away with.

Thanks in advance

I replacedme dash speakers and rear door speakers with JBL Club series and like the sound . I just want a better cleaner sound and that's what i got . I left the front door speakers alone because I did not want to mess with the ANC system . Having said that I did buy a by pass harness just in case I decide to get an amp later .I bought mine through Crutchfeild . They came with the factory connectors for free .

I put the Infinity 6x9s in all 4 doors, Kicker 3 1/2s with 4 ohm x 20 watt resistors in the dash (I had those speakers already). You will lose bass with aftermarket speakers so I installed a Kicker 10" powered sub behind the rear seat. I bypassed the ANC with a harness. IMO, sounds pretty darn good.

Infinity Ref is still the preferred (most popular) speaker for the Gen5 Ram. They are outstanding and honestly make a huge difference. I had Kenwoods in my Gen4 and they were awesome as well. Kickers are pretty popular as well.

Never heard anyone say they lost bass with aftermarket speakers.

Me either. I guess when you use crap speakers, that happens.
I'm no expert which is why I did a bunch of research, mostly on this site. Most coversations about swapping stock speakers with aftermarket ones talk about how you lose bass. When I swapped mine, I had to turn the radio up louder than normal to hear any bass. Anyway, I am happy with the sound now.

Bass at what frequency? The factory speakers are mostly monotone, meaning they respond to a very narrow range of frequencies. After putting in 9633's in all four doors and replacing the dash speakers, a little shaping of the factory EQ and the bass actually hits, at a very low frequency. You also get much more clarity in high frequencies. Call it as you wish, and individual hearing taste varies much like food and wine, but the factory speakers are shizit and don't have any bass hit to them. The shallow cones and scrawny magnets tell the tale on those things.

Not arguing with you my friend. I guess I just like a little more thump than the Infinitys gave.

I'm just going to put JBLs in mine (Concert series 9631). Not even going for their top of the line as it's going to be worlds better than the factory junk. And they will fit in the door without having to rig it in.

I love JBL stuff (JBL and Infinity are the same company) and they have a 50 hz bass frequency so whoever said after market speakers lack bass, that is false, but then I'm. It really a subwoofer guy. I like it to blend in with a little thump, not a doors shaking thump lol.

I'm gonna wait a little bit to buy my speakers and head unit as it's too hot in the garage to install them.

Also a note, the 3.5" Infinity Ref 3032 cfx are $40 cheaper on Amazon right now than on Crutchfield.

The kenwood excelon separates kill the infinity 9633IX. It also makes no sense to install a 3 way in the bottom of the doors. The highs should be coming from a higher location in the cab to fill it properly and the mid and bass should be coming from the lower position. You could do a two way in the rear doors for some fill, what I did, with some separates up front. It will sound way better set up this way.
The Infinity’s you are talking about do sound good don’t get me wrong. I’ve installed a few sets for friends who were dead set on them. They all kicked themselves after listening to my truck, built it after theirs.
And no, quality aftermarket speakers absolutely do not produce less bass. Sounds like a bad install and probably wired out of phase. Out of phase will absolutely kill the bass. Don’t assume they are wired correctly from the factory. My right front was not. Lol. One buddy was going to add a sub but when I finished his build he decided it had plenty. Hell most thought my build had a sub before I added it while trying to decide on my enclosure, sub and amp.

All speakers are way cheaper on Amazon than Crutchfield. Don't know why so many shop Crutchfield any more.

I had Kenwood Excelons in my 4Gen and they were amazing. Plenty of bump for me. The only reason I went with the Infinity in my 5Gen is because those seem to be the preferred brand for the new Rams for some reason.

That actually isn't true. The JBLs im getting aren't cheaper on Amazon and then you have to buy the speaker harness adapters for $5.99 each where Crutchfield includes them.

What i listed as cheaper on Amazon is the only thing I've found that is cheaper that I was looking at.

The head unit I'm getting is the same price and I can get it $55 cheaper on Crutchfield IF I want to order an open box with some sort of possible cosmetic issue.
But I won't order one of those.

Anyways this is why I'm ordering from Crutchfield. They include some stuff for the same price.

I have never found stereo equipment cheaper on Crutchfield than on Amazon.

Didn't say Crutchfield was cheaper but if it's the same price and they include things you need for free then I'd rather order from them.

Of all the stereo stuff I've purchased over the years, Amazon is always significantly cheaper...even with the $5 harnesses. Plus, the return process is much easier with Amazon. I think people have a lot of loyalty to Crutchfield because before Amazon if you wanted stereo stuff Crutchfield was about the only place to go. But their prices are still very high.

For the record I've never bought a thing from Crutchfield but I research other places before buying things.
I find eBay to be cheaper on some things than Amazon.

I've never checked eBay. I stick with Amazon because of the easy return policy. EBay you never know what you are going to get with returns.
