I have chatted with a few you oil gurus recently but now I am running against the clock. I am about to roll to 8k miles and I need to do an oil change. To be fair, Blackstone has told me to run past 10k multiple times I just have a hard time doing it.

Can't find any RP 20-820 filters anywhere, back-order dates are out many months...

I have ran a K&N before on my truck but the last one of those I ran, there was a defect where oil was leaking past the nut welded on the end of the filter. So that is out of the question in my opinion.

What is second or third best? I refuse to run a Fram because of the horrible videos I have seen on their tear down and inspects.

Ams oil or Wix is all that is left right?

I am sure it's not as big of a deal as I making it out to be in my head, I have just had great results with RedLine 10-30 and an RP 20-820, I really don't want to change it up.

Fram XG10060 or XG2. As I understand it, they are identical except the XG2 is a little larger.

They make good stuff and horrible stuff, the 2 filters above are great.

You can also just use the smaller RP 10-48. Nothing wrong with it and if you're worried just replace it half way through your oil change cycle and top back up another half quart or whatever.

That's what I was looking for thank you!

I feel like it's been a broken record around here lately, I didn't really pay attention like I should have. Thanks for that. So the 10-48 is the actual OEM size small filter for our trucks? Will see if I can snag a few of those.

Yes the 10-48 is what is recommended on amazon when we type in our engine/truck specs. On the forum we tend to prefer the larger ones but I've run the 10-48 before as well, and its still a far better option than oem or anything with paper media.

The 10-48 is available on Amazon but it's $18.55, more expensive than the larger 20-820.

Bummer,

Will order a few of them, I only change my oil about once a year since I don't drive my truck much.

Thank you!

Still bummed the 20-820 is gone. What the heck is the deal with that?

Have you used that one? If not I wouldn't order a bunch, but try it and see if it works. There is an issue with the smaller filter and cels.

Was hoping you would chime in, which filter do you think is second best? The Ams oil? Haven't ordered anything yet.
I have used the RP 20-820 since my truck had about 6k miles on it. First oil change was a K&N and PUP 10w-30 and it didn't seem to like it. Been RP 20-820 and RL 10-30 ever since

My teeth would hurt if I went over 7500 miles on any oil change. Regardless of UOA, which I have never done on my now 4 YOA truck, but then my truck only has 20K on Odometer. I personally have changed every 5K and tires rotated. But this is just how BOIRD does things, everybody has different thoughts on oil, filters, time frames, LOL.

I know man me too! But blackstone has said that I am less than half my oil life based on additives and chemicals in my oil. Still don't like it, that is why I want to change my oil right now!

The clone amsoil yes Oil Filter - EAO11, if not 20-500 royal purple, or new stock fram ultra xg2. Ant of these are top shelf imo. I'd probably go rp 20-500 if I were out.
I will see if I can grab a few 20-500s then. Thank you! Really don't want to swap brands. Have had great results with RP so I would like to stick with them

For whatever it's worth (which might not be anything) My Amsoil Dealer recommends going with WIX.
Your Ams oil guy didn't recommend an amsoil filter? dang! I know Amsoil is great and they are most likely on-par with RP.

The amsoil and royal purple are virtually the exact same filter made by the same company, champ labs

They recommend wix only for the smaller amsoil filter that they have a manu tsb on. They also have a partnership with amsoil, which would worry me if I used ea filters, I would want champ labs and never wix. Hopefully they will continue to use champ labs, but it is something out there.

It's just a little smaller than 20-820 but still bigger than stock. I use it.

I got a couple of 20-500 because I couldn’t find the 820’s, was easier to install. I have been using rp filters & redline 5w/30 since talking to Burla a couple years ago
