Hello All,

So like usual, the headlights on my new 22 Laramie 1500 are pretty crap. Even the high beam is not real bright. But having a look inside, they look like LEDs and I am now wondering if they are as good as it gets? :(

I have noticed LED upgrade stores online don't have my truck listed.

Any info you can supply would be awesome.

Cheers
J

The reflector LEDs for your Laramie I thought were on the high end for the truck. The only thing I can think of is the Limited style lights, but those are pricey for you to replace I would think.

So this is the headlight in my truck. Not sure if I can swap that LED for a better one. :(

Dont think you can, those are sealed up. No way to do it, unless you break them down and heat them to pull the lenses off.

May be AlfaRex or Morimoto have a compatible projector style. I thought the reflector LEDs are supposed to be better than average.

Like OC455 said, you can't replace the LED's in your headlight. You'd have to swap the entire housing. The morimoto's are an option. There are others as well. I don't know how they compare with the stock headlights though. And I agree that the headlights aren't as good as they could be. But they're a big improvement over the halogen reflector headlights on the lower trim levels.

Upgrading to Limited or Longhorn headlights require more than just swapping the housings. They are a different shape so you'll also need to swap the grille and lower fascias.

I upgraded the halogen projectors on my 14 Limited to HID, and they were 100% better.

About to pick up my new 2022 Rebel, which I think has the same LED reflector headlights as the Laramie. Anybody try upgrading these bulbs to HID yet? I think HID bulbs supposedly work better for projectors vs reflectors, but I would love to hear anybody's experiences.

The Rebel LED headlights are the same as the Laramie Night Edition LED headlights. No one has upgraded the bulbs on them because they are not replaceable. Welcome to the world of 5th gens.

I can't answer that for sure since I've never used AlphaOBD, and am not familiar with how they work. Maybe someone else here can answer that.

THEY are a heck of a lot better, I have Level II LED's which are reflectors. I will never go back to Quads/Halogens. BUT they R sealed units. One of my rear tail lights was cracked which I had replaced under warranty, and U really do not want to know the Dealer price on that item.

To help, post a pic of the front of your truck with lights on and off, may help some members to furnish info.

Oh wow, that really sucks.

Will my AlphaOBD software work with 5th gen also?
U have to get a security bypass cable for the 5th Gens. Not sure ref U need an unlocked PCM or not as I do not have AlphaOBD. U would have to go to the Alpha OBD thread and post that question.

What you got is as good as it gets, I have a 2019 Laramie with the LED automatic reflector headlamps, and they are bright enough for me, I talked to a headlight expert, and they are a sealed unit at the cost of 1,200.00 per side.
