I had the same thoughts when I was looking at buying my truck about a year ago. Get a decked out Rebel or get a TRX with Level 1. The dealer I went with (Glenn CDJR in KY) was offering 4% below invoice on both at the time. I decided on the Rebel for a few reasons listed below:

1. The Level 1 TRX was missing some of my must have options. I don't recall exactly which ones but I figured I should get everything I want when I am paying so much.
2. The increased gas cost. On the highway I can get about 17mpg with my Rebel. TRX seems to be around 8mpg which is a big difference.
3. The Rebel offers the GT package which offers a lot of the options of the TRX, paddle shifters, console gear shift, catback and CAI. I got the GT package mainly for ventilated seats but I got to admit - it sounds amazing. I have gotten many compliments that my truck sounds awesome and that is from the factory.
4. Insurance costs - the TRX was quite a bit more to insure than the Rebel.

All in all I don't regret my decision at all. The Rebel G/T is a great package and while prices have gone up more (I got mine for 63K) I think it is still a lot of truck that looks and sounds great. I love driving it and I occasionally travel for work. Couldn't ask for a better truck. If you have any questions let me know and I will be happy to answer or send pics on the G/T.

Everyone will give you a different answer, at the end of the day what will make you happy? you have to live with it/pay for it. I couldn't afford the TRX, I found a great dealership that built my truck for under MSRP. I have a loaded Rebel, with the G/T package, and honestly I would do it all over again. Great truck!
That’s great to hear thank you!

You can get a TRX for under MSRP as well, just have to order it like you did your Rebel. Buying directly off the lot you are going to pay more for any of them. Not a big difference in price between the 2 he is looking at (on the lot).

.
These are actually both factory orders for the deals I’m getting on both. Realistically it’s under 10,000$ difference at the end of the day. (Only doing level 1 TRX) so this is why I’m confused because they are so close in price lol

Thank you I really appreciate your feedback. Finally someone who was literally in the same exact position I am. Did you get the ram boxes and multi fold down? If you did have you had any warp issues? I hear way more positive reviews about the boxes and mfg but I do hear some negatives about alignment issues and warp issues

Being Military and a civilian Paramedic that moonlights on the side, I can say that the Rebel (with its oh so sweet bags) has made my life so much easier getting gear in and out of the back, loading heavy equipment, and keeping a level profile when towing or loading down the bed.
The TRX is cool and all, but if all you are getting it as a status symbol and driveway trophy, but not to use in an offroad capacity or to make real-life easier on you, then realized it is wasted potential and you could be getting something to make your FF job easier.
Off topic, but don't you keep your turn-outs and other gear at the station? Unless you do Volly work, what are you lugging back and forth?

I’m a career firefighter. I do leave my gear at my company but sometimes we have to travel to different companies to fill shifts plus in between my 24s we work overtime so I take my gear with me more then I leave it at my company. It’s easier already having it all with you when your going to work at a different company for a day, instead of traveling all the way to my company when I might be working in a company in my neighborhood up the street from me. Sorry for the long text

I basically just love fast cars. I have a Charger scatpack widebody right now but with 2 kids just isn’t practical

He said "under" $10k and it's actually $7k difference. If you can afford $73K you can afford $80K, and if you can't afford $80k you have no business buying one at $73K.

All I can say is if you can afford the trx get it..I ordered mine from koons in November 21 level 2 , carbon fiber, red accent, moon roof, bed group. Only things I didn't get were ram bar, tire carrier and decals. They did 10k off msrp with price protection. When I finally got it in june the window sticker was 96k, I payed 81k. It is the ultimate daily driver and greatest truck I have ever had the pleasure of owning. You will not regret getting the Rex. My brother owns a 16 rebel it is a great truck as well. In the end the gas mileage isn't as bad as you think im average 11.5 mpg its like driving a lifted truck.

Easy there gunpowder. Not really sure where this came from. No one said anything about not being able to afford either truck. Our comments were that $10k (or even $7k) is not a trivial amount of money. Even for someone who can shell out $80k for what is essentially a toy.

If you were in my position would you pick the rebel still?

I would still pick the Rebel. Someone else mentioned, if you were planning on selling either in future. The TRX would get more though.
For me, anyway. Having all options I want is better. You have decide for you.

I could afford both that not the problem, these are different trucks wether or not they have a lot of the same equipment. It’s not like choosing between a civic and an accord. So even with the less then 10 difference it’s still a big decision at least for me it is

I guess the closer you get to six figures, the less $10k seems to be? Seems like quite a bit of difference to me.
Not when it’s a rebel to a Trx. It could be 30k difference considering market adjustments so close to 10 difference is a huge difference. Idk how people don’t see that

For those who are questioning basically saying 10 isn’t close in price.. you clearly don’t understand. From a rebel to a Trx 10 is really close in price. Being senior members on this forum you should know the differences and have the knowledge to understand.

Thank you for your comments everyone else. I really appreciate it and it did help
